I’ve been to a few Ruth’s Chris locations so I’d like to think I’m pretty familiar with the food and its expected quality. However, my visit to this location had me leaving a little disappointed. The service was great. Chris, our waiter, was fantastic. He checked on us just enough to the point of him not hovering or anything, but he was still always somehow around if we needed anything. So that was perfect. Definitely a five star rating on the service. To start, we got the barbecued shrimp which were delicious. Very yummy. I ordered a rare petite filet, my boyfriend ordered the mixed grill trio(a super petite — 4 ounces — filet, crab cake, and chicken breast), and we got mashed potatoes to share. He was pleased with his food and thought the star of his meal was the chicken, and the mashed potatoes were soooooo good. My steak was amazing as usual… what I could eat of it. There was a portion of it I couldn’t eat because it was pure fat. Never had a filet like that anywhere, especially not at Ruth’s Chris. The main reason I get filets is because there’s not sections of fat like you might find on a ribeye or something, nor is there any gristle. So while the steak was amazing and cooked perfectly, I was disappointed that I wasn’t able to eat it all and get my money’s worth, you know? Having also been to Grille 29, I will say I think the filet is better here than there, but there was no huge sections of fat in theirs, so out of the two I would have to say I’d recommend Grille 29 instead, or just committing blasphemy and not getting steak here.

The service was great but the food was just ok. I had the apple walnut salad(great), ribeye med/rare(ok), and bread pudding(ok). For the cost I expect much better food.

Save some time and a lot of money by not having dinner here. We had reservations on Christmas Eve for four. We arrived approximately 10 minutes in advance but weren’t seated until 25 minutes after our reservation. Later I found out why. We were seated and ordered drinks. They came relatively fast and we ordered the entrees, no appetizers. It took almost an hour for us to get our entrees and not one time during the wait did we get rolls or more drinks. Other tables did though. I asked for a steak cooked rare. Not only was it cooked wrong but we got the wrong orders too. My steak was blue and cold except for the outside edges. When I say cold, I mean like frig cold. We ate what we could and again waited and waited. People that were seated the same time as us were gone. The server finally came by asking for desserts after we were two hours into the meal. I told him to bag it up and we left. I’ve eaten everywhere in the US at a Ruth’s Chris and it is always good. But please please do not waste your time and hard earned money going here. We certainly will not.

Hung out at the bar two nights in a row, and was serviced both times by Mike, who is amazing! Very attentive, willing to make conversation and able to provide small but meaningful insights into restaurants and things of interest in the downtown area. Good ambiance in the bar, though it does sit in an internal courtyard of a hotel.

Stopped by the Ruth’s Chris bar connected to Embassy Suites on a vacation and was served amazing cocktails by the bartender Mike. He served an excellent dirty vodka martini. While slightly salty, the vodka/olive balance had a smooth even taste that left me wanting for more. The service was great, and the bartenders were very accommodating to my requests, including changing the channel to the Vandy game(Go Dores!) and making custom drinks to match my picky taste. If you are in Huntsville, I strongly recommend stopping by to see Mike and the rest of the crew at Ruth’s Chris!

Lowering from 3 stars to 1. To update from previous review, I had my wedding luncheon in the private dining room earlier this year. The food wasn’t as the written agreement stated(and was subpar), and the service awful. They also set up the tables incorrectly, creating a disjointed seating arrangement. Afterwards, I contacted the catering manager and told her what happened. We were given a $ 75 gift card. Well, can’t undo what’s already done, so I was at least thankful my husband and I could return and use the credit. We dined there on Friday, November 20, and it was one of the worst meals we’ve ever had. What on Earth is wrong with his Ruth’s Chris location? And the service was atrocious. I’ll upload photos of our steaks. My «medium well» filet was medium rare and I couldn’t eat it. I gave it to my husband, who likes rare steak; he took a bite and said it wasn’t good(and steak is his favorite food). His prime rib was gray and not seared well. He was in disbelief that a steakhouse could let a steak that bad looking out of the kitchen. He tried to eat it(his favorite cut of meat, no less), but it was so bad that he couldn’t. We literally only took it home in a box to give it to our dogs. Literally, that was about $ 90 worth of steak… inedible. And the sides! How can they mess up mashed potatoes and creamed spinach? But they did. They were both runny and tasteless. We’ve had them at other Ruth’s Chris locations and they were terrific. They were even served to us luke warm. And the service… oy vey. Our head waitress seemed«lost» mentally. When she was at our table, she’d just stand there and smile and not know what to say. How awkward. She never came back during the meal to ask if we wanted another drink, which my husband did, in fact, want, and Ruth Chris could’ve made a lot more money from us had she checked in with us. I was eating and the assistant came to top off my water, and pushed my hand hard with the water jug. A minor thing, but not something that should happen in a fine dining restaurant. Golden Corral, yes; Ruth’s Chris, no. Waitress was wearing crocs, too, which wasn’t professional. We waited 10 – 15 minutes for her to appear after we’d given up on our food(clearly). She again stood there smiling at us, and we’re looking at her like, um… speak? Cat got your tongue? She asked if we wanted to order dessert. I reminded her that it came with our fixed price dinner. She then started rambling about ice cream and sherbert and who knows what else(we couldn’t follow her)… and then she walked away from the table. We looked at each other and laughed at the absurdity that was this dining experience, and figured she may or may not bring us dessert, and we won’t have a clue what we get. What we got was so awful we took one bite and gave up for the night. When she ran my credit card and gave me the receipt to sign, she stepped away properly. As I’m concentrating to how much to tip and reviewing the bill, she suddenly reappeared and just stood next to my daughter and out of no where says, «Do you have any idea how adorable you are?» I nearly fell out of my chair. Seriously? Let’s give bad service all night, and right when I’m ready to write down your tip, you try to butter me up? She kept standing there and smiling at her… more awkwardness. Hubby and I both agreed we’d never return. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. Don’t forget to look at our«steak» photos.

This spot had a nice intimate dining area with a quick attentive wait staff. I ordered the T-Bone, Med-rare and was real happy. Cooked to perfection and hot as always. Chris and the other staff were great and synced well with each other. I can’t wait till next time, see ya soon Chris…

I fully expect that my food may be good, it usually is, when it arrives in a few minutes. However as multiple repeat lunchtime customers, I was astounded to be told we needed to wait 15 minutes due to a lunchtime surge, or eat in the bar. Not a particular problem, but I walked thru dining and counted tables after placing my order at the bar. 15 occupied, 30 empty at our arrival. Host didn’t ask my name to look up and log my visit(probably 20 – 30 times by now). Am NOT pleased with this poor excuse.

First time at a Ruth’s Chris and I was highly disappointed. Service was good until we complained about the food. Salad had old lettuce, mashed potatoes and spinach came out cold. Definitely not worth the price. I have heard good things about Ruth Chris but this one isn’t up to par.

Awesome dinner for two and our waitress Michelle was perfect. Dinner was a little pricey but the food was perfectly cooked. I had the special ahi tuna and Ken had the salmon and we ordered a bottle of Treana red wine. Thanks for comping the dessert Michelle. We are looking forward to our stay in Alabama

Took about forty minutes for our food to come out. Bar had limited selection. Bartenders were great but the wait staff was non-existent. Definitely better places to eat around town.

When my paleo craving hits, it is time for medium rare-rare meat. I eat premium steak about 3 times a year. Someone suggested Ruth’s I said fine since I have never been to the Huntsville location. I reserve my meat money for the best… this ain’t it !! Overall everything was good, but the steak for 3 of us was a disappointment for the price. Too much dissecting and gristle. I grew up in New Orleans and frequented the original Ruth’s. Another example of chain corporation dumbing the food down while raising the prices. We would have come out better getting on a plane to Tampa and eating at Bern’s Steakhouse. NOW that’s a steak !! Guess next meat outing will be at Connor’s steakhouse. Never been there, hear great feedback.

I came here to check out their lunch menu for an upcoming farewell lunch, figured since I was there I might as well try it out. The staff at the restaurant was very pleasant and quick on the services that they provided. The lunch menu is very affordable, items as low as $ 8.50. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Club sandwich with fries. The sandwich was huge, made with fresh ingredients. Plan on coming back in a few weeks for the farewell luncheon.

My husband and I had a great time. The service & food was good not fantastic. I believe I thought the steaks would taste better… We paid total 140.00 for two on February 15th. Defiantly for special occasions in our home. The only area I would say I didn’t care for is how close the tables are to each other. My friend went to one in TN and she said the tables were not so close. I believe this may be due to the limited space they have in the hotel.

Before I go to restaurants I read the reviews on Unilocal but today I learned that all reviews aren’t created equal. My experience with Ruth’s Chris was nothing short of phenomenal! My husband and I decided to go there for our 2nd Anniversary. I decided to make reservations simply because I wasn’t sure of the crowd and I’m glad I did because it was a packed house even on a Wednesday night! Any who we opted for the BBQ shrimp(I could drink the sauce) as an appetizer, and we both ordered from the prime time menu. If you haven’t looked at their deals lately go to . We both had the mixed grill trio with a crab cake stuffed chicken breast and a 4 oz filet with mashed potatoes salad and a dessert. Everything was delicious. I was impressed by the staff who were very attentive. Our bill was well over $ 100 but it was worth every dime and then some especially for a special occasion. So that you aren’t turned off by sticker shock, review the website above for promotions or ideas about what you would order so that you can budget for a nice experience! Thanks Ruth’s Chris for a wonderful 2nd Anniversary! P. S…another misconception is that the portions are small is is totally incorrect. Both my husband and I ate twice off of our meals!

I’m thinking 2.5 stars. It would be 3 if the service would improve. Background: I’ve been here in numerous and varied configurations from my husband and me to a few friends at the bar, to a ballroom-filled work Christmas party. The food is good, and yes, pricey. My favorite dish is the«Ruth’s Chop Salad» and I think it’s nickname is the«stacked salad» — they stack it in a perfectly circular shape and it has a delightful crunch and taste. Went yesterday to try their(newly advertised but maybe not new) happy hour, called«Ruth’s Hour,» with«promotionally priced prime bites» from 5 – 6:30 Mon-Thurs [more info here: which offers apps(it’s restricted to the apps printed in red) at half price. Note: you cannot get these items«to go.» BF and I got the following eats: *Barbecued Shrimp — $ 7 at happy hour *Prime New York Strip Sandwich — $ 12 at happy hour and *Scallops(Not sure of the price). FOOD: The BBQ shrimp were great, as were the Scallops. There were ~ 7 shrimp on the BBQ shrimp dish and ~ 4 huge scallops on the scallop dish. The sandwich and side of french fries looked great, but I didn’t taste it. So, all the goodness is in the consistent quality of the food, appealing presentation, and timely delivery(especially while seated at the bar, where the happy hour is offered). SERVICE: **Consistently,** even though they are adequately staffed,(3 bartenders were working during the happy hour) the bar staff stay super busy/on the move doing«side work»(i.e., rolling silverware, wiping glasses, even cleaning windows, stocking shelves, etc.) while patron’s glasses are ¼ or less full. You have to flag them down to order a refill and please note, there are no happy hour drink prices, so each glass of wine I had was 11.00. You would think they would be thrilled to refill that glass and increase my tab for heaven’s sake. In fact, when seated, a young lady(bar back /bartender in training maybe?) was trying to answer my question regarding unoaked wine. She showed me the drink/app menu, mumbled something that I could not hear, and walked off. Five minutes later, I notice she is no longer in the bar, but is cleaning the glass door leading to the patio. Sooooooo, ~ another 5 minutes, I flag down the male bartender who has circled past me ~ 3 times not noticing I did not have a drink in front of me, and order a glass of wine from him. I’m all about cleanliness and people staying busy while at work, but, wouldn’t you think that primarily, the bartenders would keep your water and beverage glasses filled?

This is going to be a very odd review of Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. Why? Because it has nothing to do with steak. Whatsoever. Deal with it. Staying in the hotel, I just wanted an app to bring up to my room. Calamari sounded good. So, I was directed to the bar to place my order. Done so by a friendly gentleman, I also decided to order a Chopin martini while I waited. The summary?: Calamari — very, very good. A nice mix of rings and the(blatantly) better tentacles. Nicely fried, it offered a crispiness while still being soft, moist, and flavorful — the full flavor of the meat came through, not just the breading. Quantity was good too, but it should be for $ 14. One potential negative is the Thai chili sauce it comes with. It doesn’t so much come with it as it comes bathed in it. If you like it, it’s fantastic. If you don’t…you’re SOL. If you have any question, I recommend ordering it on the side lest you dislike your entire app. I would prefer an option of plain calamari with some kind of garlic aioli, but it was still very good. Martini — Excellent! Smooth, with great olives(which is a big deal to me). That being said, Ruth’s Chris needs to get over themselves a bit. I should not pay more for a martini in a bar in northern Alabama as I have for the same Chopin martini at a nice bar in downtown Chicago, LA or Washington. All in all, quite a delicious non-cow meal, though not without fault.

I will start off by saying that this location of Ruth’s Chris is not quite up to par with some its others. I do like the feel of the restaurant, the décor is very modern and luxurious(lots of deep reds and golds). The service has been wonderful every time I’ve been there. The servers and server assistants are always on top of things and happy to give recommendations. Not to mention, if you haven’t been to a Ruth’s Chris, the steaks come out on plates that are supposed to be like 500 degrees so handling those bad boys is pretty impressive in my book. The steaks have always been wonderful. The sides are shareable so you can choose a couple of different options if you have more than two. I will mention what everyone mentions, the prices are very high. Do not go here if you have not at least checked out the price list before. That being said, I do like this for the rare nice occasion. They serve lunch, with much more reasonably priced options, so if you have the urge to try it out but don’t want to spend at least $ 100, you have that option.

We have been to Ruth’s Chris several times and always found our dining experience to be incredible. Not so much this time. We were greeted by their amazing host staff. It went downhill from there. Our server was NOT attentive to say the least. Neither was his co-waiter. We all were quite amused that we had 2 servers and still found the service to be lack luster. My step daughters Filet was wonderful. The other 3… far from it. My husband was excited about his pittsburgh rare ribeye. He has bragged for ages that Ruths Chris is the only steak house in HSV that can pull it off. His steak was delivered charred… and medium. FAR from rare. He was very disappointed. My daughters Filet which was ordered medium rare was VERY rare. I ordered my filet medium well and could have used it for a hockey puck. It was very dry, obviously overcooked and just not good. Our server continually ignored us, all the while we could see him holding up a wall, chatting with others from the wait staff. We waited 10 minutes for a drink refill that he said he’d be right back with. After we had received our salads, my daughter decided she would like extra dressing. Neither waiter appeared… for at least 15 minutes. Needless to say, we will not be going back. Our dinner bill for 4 was over $ 250.00 Worst money we’ve spent dining out in ages. UPDATE: The general manager called to speak with me personally. I was very impressed that he is bending over backwards to earn back our business. It’s obvious that he takes customer service very seriously. I respect that and am in high hopes that we were there on an «off» night. We will give it one more try. I’ll update afterwards! Adding a star for them reaching out to us. Most wouldn’t.
