We visited this past Saturday evening on a whim. The line was long and it was full outside. It always seems to be that way and now I know why. This place was AWESOME! The staff greeted us and was very friendly suggesting food and drinks since it was or first time. I had the steak quesadillas and my husband’s had the burrito. We are very picky about Mexican food. We prefer it as authentic as possible but some of the finer dining establishments can be pricey. This was a fresh and authentic meal for food truck prices! Perfect for our quick date. We decided to share a LaPlaya Margarita. It was a tasty blend of citrus juices and cocunut tequila. The bartender actually split it for us in 2 cups since I wanted sugar and my hubby wanted salt. We enjoyed the relaxed and casual atmosphere. It’s now officially on our list of faves!

My husband, son and I stopped for a quick lunch on Saturday around 11:45−12. The food was fresh tasting, the service was quick and friendly. We were a little worried about trying a new restaurant without a lot of time to spare but it everything was so efficient we finished lunch with enough time to get to where we were going next on time. I made my own nachos, my husband had a «yo mama» burrito and my son had a chicken and cheese soft taco. Everything was delicious. We will definitely be back.

Great music. I got the Judge, my boyfriend got the FatBoy… half way we traded both liking the other one better. Over all the price was very good and the food was fresh and very tasty.

al fresco food pretty good-they always seem to be in a hurry to close-not good enough to be in a hurry to close-feel it out with some cheese dip-i guess my favorite thing was the poster of the monkeynaut in the rest room-try some cheese dip and taco-nothing special-and do not expect them to be open past posted close–

We visited Taco Mama on a Tuesday evening. It turned out to be ½ off the Margaritas and this included most pitchers. Needless to say it was PACKEDOUT! the patio was full and inside. The line was to the door when I walked in and this was about a little after 7… Service: so you order at the front and they bring you your food. The food comes out really quickly and you get to add countless toppings at no extra charge to your burrito, taco or nachos… The people were SO sweet and although we ordered a pitcher, they let us try some of another flavor we inquired about… We got this SUPER service in the midst of an EXTREMELY busy evening!!! Very polite people! Food: Food was yummy. The shrimp was delicious in my husbands burrito and my steak was good as well. Venue: Your very best Americanized Mexican Restaurant. Didn’t use restroom to see how clean it was but everything else was very clean. Love the option of patio seating and high top tables. Location: this is located in Twickenham Village and has a nice patio. Love the atmosphere. Could go without the downtown hassle of parking. Try this place out if you haven’t!

I’ve been here multiple times since they opened and always look forward to it! But, this time when I asked for grilled fish I got fried and was quickly helped. The burrito I got back had all the fish at one end and all the guacamole, cheese and salsa at the other end. Not what I expected for such a small issue. That’s one Taco Mama! I’ll be back though.

Had the one of the best experience of my taco life with this place. They need to aim at keeping things neat and clean but other than I luv the atmosphere and the food !!

I love this place, but could only give it 4 stars because the place seems to always be dirty. The last time I went in the place had JUST opened and was dirty as if they had been opened all day. The salsa is the best of the best. Food is always fresh and good but I just can’t get past the dirtiness.

$ 8 for queso dip? Small sizes, bland food, and a borish atmosphere — I can’t think of a Mexican place in town that is worse than this place. Skip it.

I’ve only been here twice, so I still need to try a few things. But for a simple taco restaurant, I love it. It can be a bit bland sometimes, but I’ve never been disappointed or disliked what I ordered. Their Mexican Mac and cheese is just regular Mac and cheese. While delicious, it is nothing special and there is nothing«Mexican» about it. TM is fairly priced and the atmosphere is nice. Overall, they could step their spice game up, but even if they don’t, I will still go back because burritos.

Read Molly C’s review below. Couldn’t agree with her more. I live around the corner so sometimes when I’m rushed or too tired to cook I have to grab a meal here… bland every time.

Love the downtown ambience, yet always super quick if you need to get in and out. Staff is always very helpful and greets you from the second you walk in the door. Orders come out quick too! Their menu is really versatile and love that they have«build your own» for bowls, burritos, and tacos. Plus the ingredient options are a mile long! Favorite foods: salsa is a must try if you love cilantro! And the judge is my favorite burrito with the queso dip. My husband surprisingly loves the barbecue sauce. They have a unique list of sauces. This place is a must try!

I’ve been wanting to try TM for some time now and had a chance to last Saturday afternoon. I really enjoyed it! The menu has cute names for the dishes, the interior is cute and the staff are really friendly, helpful and kind! I had the(insert cute name that I can’t recall) fish tacos, one fried, and one baked/not fried. Both were good, but the baked would be what I would order in the future, just to avoid fried foods. The guac was creamier than I prefer, as I like mine chunky, but it was the side I selected and had good flavor. The tacos come dressed with slaw and a sauce. The chips are light, crispy and fresh — zero greasiness. The plate shown in the picture and a glass of pinot grigio and iced water with tip was ~ 20.00. Why no 5th star? because on a cold day, if you sit in front of the door, you freeze… was thinking maybe they could install one of those heaters above the door, so that side of 4 tops does not tremble the entire time. Maybe they have plans to do that in the future — so, just avoid the door side of the restaurant in the winter and you should be good to go! Rock on Taco Mama, glad you are in Twickenham shopping center!

We love Taco Mama. The create your own is the best way to go, and all of their toppings are free! The grilled shrimp is fresh tasting, and you get around 8 in a burrito. The burritos come with your choice of a side, and we have always just ordered the side of queso. Service is quick, and if we have any to go orders, we can order the to go and run across the street to Publix and grab whatever items needed and it will be waiting on us when we get back. All of their ingredients are super fresh. Their chips are thin and crispy, homemade salsas. The best salsa is the tomatillo habanero salsa(super spicy) we will definitely come back!

Let me start off by saying that I really, really want to LOVE this place. The concept and atmosphere is something that most HSV restaurants are seriously lacking with its open, fun vibe. I love a good taco spot but the food here just hasn’t done it for me. I have just visited for my third time and once again, I left feeling blah. First off, the tacos are okay. Nothing special about any of the meats or ways that the tacos are prepared even if it comes with a «crema» sauce. Everything is still pretty tasteless and needs a good dollop of Sriracha to pep it up. And then I went for the side of the Mexican corn… honestly, it took me back to the corn kernels that used to be served next to my square pizza in the lunchroom. As I stated earlier, I want to love this place. Everything could be wonderful with some salt and just a few kicks of flavor.

So I really like Taco Mama but don’t go at prime time, this place is SMALL and gets crowded really quickly. It is an order at the counter/get a number for the table style place so there are always people saving tables and not letting the people leaving/people getting there work out. It just makes for a frustrating experience, I prefer to avoid that. As for the food they have a lot of options and the menu can be overwhelming, we’ve been several times and so far my favorites are there soft tacos — i really like the grilled shrimp and the steak.(or whatever crazy name they have for them). and side of guac or queso. my only real issue with the food is that the burrito BOWL is actually on a plate. so it’s not a bowl. it’s a plate.

Prices are great, food is fantastic, and the crew are all nice and professional. We came here two days in a row while downtown for an animé convention. No stares or questions from staff about costumes, which is really nice. Cups are small, but that’s not too much of an issue because refills are free. Chips are a bit flimsy, which is only a problem when dipped in the queso because they get soggy immediately. My only issue with prices is that the chip and dips are a dollar more than I would want to pay.

Came her on a Wednesday night, it was pretty crowded but mainly due to the rain. No outside seating with bad weather. There were 3 of us, we shared a table with another group because it’s first come first serve tables. No hostess. The food was good, drinks good, one person in our group had a Margarita and said it was good. All in all not a bad place to go to. Just remember, grab a table quick and ts a little loud but good food.

I was really tempted to go with a 3 star rating, but that was really just because I’m comparing them to other ‘Mexican’ places in town. The 4 stars is an unbiased review for their food/service. As others have noted, the seating is extremely limited and cramped. With warmer weather, hopefully the outdoor seating will relieve some of this problem. That being said, even on a crowded Sunday for lunch, the food did not take long to arrive and everything tasted very fresh. I love the ability to customize everything and the abundance of optional toppings with no extra charge – that is what sets this place apart from others in the area and makes the price worth it. I can also agree with other reviewers that some of the toppings and meat lacked in seasoning and flavor but their margaritas most certainly do not: top notch.

Fun taco place, great for a long lunch or dinner. They get pretty creative with their ingredients but it always seems to come out alright. The long and short of it: 1. Drink service. If you start a tab they’ll keep the drinks flowing at your table. It wasn’t terribly busy when we were there and they were spot on with keeping my wine glass full. Can see this as less of a good option when it’s busy but it was nice all the same. 2. Tacos/Burritos. Really good Mexican fusion affair. My favorite is The Sizzler but it all depends on what your in the mood for. Never had a bad taco here. 3. Salsa. Their salsa tastes fresh. I’m not sure if it is, but I always enjoy it. There’s nothing all that special about this place but it’s always nice to have a solid taco place at your disposal. Overall Grade: B+
