Cool place, great people, great food I always get the cheesesticks & jalapeño poppers. Good place to chill and escape (literally it’s pretty much underground). Monday’s are my jam since it’s really relaxed downtown.

Great place to hang out with friends. Amazing atmosphere and a great staff. They honestly take great care of their customers. It also offers something for everyone. Those who just want to hang with friends and those who are looking for something more exciting. Highly recommend.

Great place to hear original and cover music.
I absolutely love catching Dave Anderson on a Thursday night here. The bartenders are amazing and very courteous.
Expect to be known rather quickly as they have a knack for making you feel like a regular.
I enjoy that it is non-​smoking and an easy place to relax and listen to tunes!

Imagine your high school cool friend’s basement complete with a bar and limited seating. This describes Voodoo in one sentence.
Unless you score one of the few tables toward the entrance or at the bar you’re out of luck and will have to find a place to stand, while dodging other patrons squeezing by you to get either to the bar or the restroom at the rear of the lounge.
This place encompasses the true essence of a basement lounge. The DJ/​Emcee that managed the karaōke songs will make your visit so much more enjoyable.
I’m not sure about the food and drinks, but the atmosphere is worth checking out on a Sunday night if you’re not willing to let your weekend go without a fight.

These people don’t know their ass from their head. Went in for Happy Hour one day and had 3 Miller lights. When I cashed out the bartender said my tab was $ 9 and some change. I asked why so much since I was there for Happy hour and he said it was 7:05 and happy hour was over. When he saw my reaction and realized he wasn’t going to get one over on me he quickly changed his tune and told me the right amount of $ 5.75. I don’t go there often and it’s the second time I was overcharged so I’ve come to the conclusion that if you’re not a regular and the bartenders don’t know or recognize you they will try to rip you off and over charge you.

Poped in for a drink with co-​workers while in town for work. Smokey, which you almost never encounter anymore. But because you never encounter it anymore, its really gross. Also, the place itself had a sorta grimy feel. Not a «dive bar cool» layer of grime, but plain old filth. Also, really expensive. Not a great place. We left after a single drink and went elsewhere.

If you’re looking for a hole-​in-​the-​wall, underground, this is your place. The place is dirty, grimy, the patrons are all young but friendly, and it’s way longer than wider, but man was it fun to be in. They had live music the night we went and played a couple of 80s tunes (which surprised me for the median age of the crowd.) The beer selection was minimal, but all good. And I have to say it was a nice change of place for all the «hipster» kinda joints — these greasy-​type of places I really do enjoy.

Voodoo Lounge is the trendy hipster/​musician bar in Huntsville. It has a really good vintage atmosphere and the best local music you’ll be able to hear on the weekend. The small, hidden basement entrance really gives the place style. You can easily imagine listening to the Alabama Shakes give an unpublicized concert here. However, there are some downsides. The space is extremely narrow and long, which is fine for a quaint lounge, but this place is a vibrant music bar. It makes for cumbersome movement, claustrophobia, and significant noise amplification. The light can be a little harsh & your clothes need to be washed immediately after spending more than 5 minutes here. You may also wish you had earplugs during the band, which sort of defeats the purpose of going to a bar.

Located in the basement of Papou’s on the Southside of the square in Downtown Huntsville, it remains one of Huntsville’s hidden gems.
The staff is always friendly and very knowledgeable. There’s live music 6 nights a week and karaōke on Sundays. Personally, I prefer to go on Wednesdays when James Irvin plays, but Dave Anderson on Tuesdays is another act that you wouldn’t want to miss!

Being from NY this place was a great find. It’s very much like a lil dive bar in the east village yet not… cuz ur in huntsville. Dark, very old looking this place still had an awesome vibe to it. Everyone seemed very friendly especially the bartender. There are a few dart boards in the back bt chances are there will be a live band and you’ll want to stick around and listen. The two times Ive been here they have been great. I guess the only draw back is how much the smoke lingers in there. I’m not use to that so it could be that im just a lil bitch when it comes to smoke but in a way in kinda added to the vibe there somehow. You should def. give this place a try.

Wheew! The Voodoo Lounge is a breath of fresh air. Located in downtown Huntsville, this place is worth the trip!
The bartenders are super sweet, and very attentive. Their prices are wallet friendly and the Voodoo Lounge has awesome drink specials. The bartender serves up all kinds of delicious shots and mixed drinks– such as the ‘Dysfunctionator’…and my personal favorite, ‘Grown Up Chocolate Milk’. Tehee. The bartender that served me should get an award for her delicious drinks. Seriously.
Voodoo offers LIVE music almost every night. The schedule rotates but they have a few weekly regulars… Wednesdays are fun. I saw James Irvin last week and he was great. Check him out!
