The Chocolate Bar

Very slow service. Mediocre food. I had a roasted chicken sandwich. It had bones in it. The deserts looked good, but it took so long to get food and then so long for the waiter to come back that I couldn’t wait any longer.

30 Jan 1:30 pm. Ordered steak blt. Was ok bar food. Had drink and waffle fries. Fries were best part of meal. Friend sitting next to me had chicken parmesan sandwich. Chicken a small bone in it. Not sure about source for the chicken. Server disappeared and has not brought check. I should have checked Unilocal review before coming here. This place is not busy. Must be under staffed.

Just showed up for a 6pm reservation and they told us they gave our reservation away, said it would be an hour wait, will never go back.

Service was terrible … Had eaten entire app and ordered dinner before our martini flight made it to the table the appetizer was good (buf chick flat bread) our martinis were not good… Dinner was average bar food… Desert was good but we were there for over 2 hours because it took SOO long for everything!

Dined at CB today. Our entrée (Flatbread) was dry and flavorless. The server never returned to the table after dropping off the food (until she finally brought the check. but forgot the pen). Unfortunately she forgot to bring us some of the items we ordered so it would have been nice if she had come back (we were still charged!). Wanted so much to like this place. Manager was nice and came over and acknowledged that he saw we received very poor service so that is the only reason they are getting two stars instead of one from me. Hopefully they will improve because Huntsville needs more interesting concepts like this to survive and thrive!

The food here is very very good. I had a salad wrap and it was delicious. The chocolate shake was also really good. The only down point to eating here was that I also ordered gnocchi soup (soup of the day) and it was good BUT it had chicken in it and since I’m a vegetarian that was kind of horrifying to find out. But our waitress was great and very attentive. I would recommend and would eat here again.

Terrible customer service. 5 minutes before anyone said hello. Empty tables that have 2 glasses and hostess said it would take 20 mins to bus. Seems to be a new location. If I didn’t need a chocolate fix I’d be on my way. Waitresses look as if they are bothered. May need help in kitchen. Here’s hoping that the chocolate dessert menu redeems the sluggish start.

My friend and I had Highhope’s for this restaurant/​bar, but we were disappointed. I think the flimsy napkins were our first indication that this restaurant would be less than stellar. The French onion soup too salty. The Waitress delivered the soups to our table without a tray and with her thumb inside the soup bowl. The molten lava cake was sub par as well. It needed sugar and tasted a bit tart. We are not certain that we will give this restaurant a second chance.

Went with some friends last night and had a good time. The desserts are delicious! If you want something decadent this is the place. Service was a bit slow but food was worth it.

Food was excellent, but we never got our drinks, then the Lead Server verbally told us he would give us our drinks for free and still they never arrived, Then our server informed us that because she had taken our drinks off our bill her manager told her it was illegal to give them to us. This man’s name is Habib, and in our opinion he hasn’t a clue as to how to manage your restaurant. We are only giving you a 2 because of the managers lack of attention to paying customers. He never even showed his face shame on him. He made our server Bridget very uncomfortable as well. And she did an outstanding job.

Can’t give them any stars!!! Not because of the food or servers, but because of the manager. They are known for their martinis, we ordered 4 and received NONE!!! 2 hours with dinner and not ONE drink. Shame on them. We have been here several times and spent a nice amount of money, but this time may be our last. The servers were very apologetic, but the manager wouldn’t even come to our table. The manager’s name is Habib Shams… my advice is don’t come here when he is on duty!!!

Great for drinks and dessert and possibly «bar food». Entrees were disappointing. Had the Cajun chicken and shrimp and the quality of the meats were poor. Dry. Lack of flavor.
Really wanted it to be a great place. Server was awesome. Atmosphere is very good. Location excellent.

OMG — my new favorite place. Why am I just now finding out about this place?

I’m really surprised at some reviews here. I went with my family last Saturday night and we had a blast! Our server was lovely and attentive – she even helped us move outside for an after-​dinner drink! We all had salads – Mediterranean and Caesar. They were very refreshing. The timing of the drinks and food was just fine. As for drinks, I had a pomegranate martini because I’m not into sweet drinks. It was great! My parents also enjoyed their chocolate martinis.
We had a great time and would definitely go again. Sometimes it takes new restaurants a little time to work out the kinks. When you’ve got specialty martinis, they can take longer to make because of all the ingredients. I was a bartender – I’ve been there.
Particularly compared to some of the other specialty drinking options around Huntsville, I found CB to be welcoming and fun. I’d go again!

Great place for appetizers and desert. Tried both steaks which were horrible.
Appetizers arrived 10 minutes before 1^st drinks. Steak knives arrived 10 minutes after steak served. Needless to say staff needs a little more experience. Everything else we ate was very good.

Sadly disappointed. It could be a fun place but they need to improve customer service.

CB is just OK. The layout is odd, the chicken sandwich is among the healthier options. The bartenders are not especially attentive nor outgoing. I had to get my own utensils and then a steak knife from the employee area for myself to cut the sandwich. If you spend 35 you get a bottle of wine for $ 15. Wine selection was sparce with just a few standards. No one was proactive. Maybe their chocolate is good. I didn’t try any chocolate.

I was happy to go through the effort to add The Chocolate Bar to Unilocal because it was that delicious, great atmosphere, décor, and service! I strayed from my usual red wine and tried the martini flight with the Crème Brûlée, Jolly Rancher, and Chocolate martinis.
We tried the white chocolate pasta; it sounds so wrong, but it’s so right! I recommend it for anyone too scared to try it. My sister got the pecan chicken. It came with a maple mayo that they make. It was really flavorful. My brother-​in-​law also got the peanut butter and honey banana sandwich with sweet potato fries with the maple mayo. He loved it.
My niece was celebrating her birthday, so they brought a little brownie out with a sparkler and sang Happy Birthday.
Shakes: My nephew got the peanut butter cup shake. Definite must for peanut butter lovers! It comes out with a dollop of whipped cream and a chocolate straw.
My niece ordered the chocolate salted caramel shake. Mmmmm! Yummy!
Only con: The A/​C was making a high-​pitched noise. I brought it to the attention of our waitress, Jessica L, who was awesome and attentive, and the staff was on a mission to get this corrected.

If you love chocolate and anything decadent, you’re going to love this spot. They even have make it yourself smores and chocolate martinis! I ordered the caramel latte, and Nutella crepes. I’m not a huge fan of ice cream, so I told them to hold off on that.
Cons: they charged me for an item that I didn’t order. Then they came back with my new bill, with the item that I didn’t order. When I questioned it, he said they charged $ 2 extra for some drizzle of caramel. I ordered a CARAMEL latte… Kinda ridiculous considering it wasn’t even a caramel latte like I ordered, which should be infused in the coffee not drizzled on it. It’s like ordering an ice cream sundae and they charge you extra for whip! Cool menu selection but with all the hidden fees, misleading and getting my bill wrong twice, I’ll probably lay off of this place for a while.

First try and I’m happy to Unilocal that it’s been worth the wait. Food was great, drinks even better! Suggest the grilled cheese with bacon.
