I’ve always loved Soulman’s and have been to a few of their locations and always loved it. I was so excited to see that one was opening up here in south Hurst. They have a good price on a slab of ribs, and they are very good. I also like their sliced beef and the sauce is excellent. However, two weeks ago I went to get me a 2 meat plate with sliced beef. Despite the menu specifically stating«2 meat(s)» the person behind the counter insisted that I needed to choose 2 separate meats. I’m not sure if this is a franchise or what, but if they do not sell an item a certain way, they need to change the menu to represent what they do sell. I have always found it irritating whenever a restaurant has the food I want, but wants to be all particular about how, or even if they will sell it to me. I also complained on their website with no response for 2 weeks. I now pass Soulman’s on my way across town for the BBQ that I want, seems ridiculous…

Just good old Texas BBQ. I’m a brisket guy, and theirs is about as good as you’ll find. The flavor is very good. I’ve had the ribs and sausage here as well, and while they’re way above average, I still prefer their sliced brisket. I’m not big on BBQ sauce, I prefer to taste the meat, but I did try some of it and it was better than most. The sides are what you’d expect in a BBQ joint, but they serve a very good creamed corn. I think they call it southwest cream corn. It’s a bit spicy, but not overly sweet, and that’s how I like it. The only dessert I’ve tried is the buttermilk pie, but it’s pretty darned good. I may be a bit generous with the 4 stars, but it is worth more than just 3 stars. GIven their prices I think they may be a bit stingy with the meat, but it might be that they thought I could probably stand to lose a few pounds.

The meat is tender and they are generous with it. The okra is crispy, the potato salad and other sides are delicious. The employees are very friendly. The prices are good. I would like it if the sauce were a little thicker and maybe chop the onions smaller. Other than that this side of the metroplex finally has a really great bbq spot. Finally!!!

Just yes to everything here! I love the baked potato with chopped beef. The bbq is delicious and the staff is always friendly. My only request is that the banana pudding to have actual bananas and not just the banana flavored pudding.

We started going to Soulman’s right after they opened in Hurst and have been continual patrons since then. However we went for lunch Thursday March 24th and I ordered what I always order 3 meat combo sliced brisket, sausage and pork ribs. The person dishing up the meat took a little piece of brisket and chopped it put in the plate and I told her I asked for sliced brisket she argued with me and the other person working there gave me flack. Needless to say they have lost me as a customer and everyone I know will be told to stay away. I will have drive further but it is back to Riscky’s we go.

This is the first time I have been to this soulmans bbq location. The only other location I have been to is the one in rockwall. This review is for the one in hurst. First off the restaurant is small, not a lot of comfortable seating. Plates were left on tables, and trash laying everywhere. I had the 7.99 pulled pork w/2 sides deal. The sandwich itself wasn’t bad but the sides SUCKED. Very bland and had no flavor whatsoever. Honestly I was still hungry when I got up to leave, and that’s even after I had an ice cream cone! Red, hot and blue bbq is WAYBETTER to me, their potato salad is awesome and I am always stuffed when I leave there. I ll pass on this place.

My friend Teri and I met here for dinner tonight, based on the reviews from . We dined in and I believe we were the only ones here the whole time. We sat in the front room so I am not sure if anyone was dining in the other area. I opted for the rib plate(pork) and was given a choice of four, six or 10. I went with six ribs and two sides. They have a hot side selection that includes ranch style beans, pinto beans, macaroni and cheese, green beans and southwest creamy corn. I picked green beans and mac and cheese. Then I went a smidge farther down the line and saw their cold sides… whoops! Had to get coleslaw because that’s my fave. They also offered potato salad or homemade banana pudding on this buffet table. Desserts included buttermilk pie and pecan pie. My friend ordered the regular smoked sausage link(they have regular and spicy), macaroni salad and cole slaw. Oddly enough. At 7:30p they were out of chicken, which was the daily special! My ribs were very tender, but not super moist. They had a great, tasty charred part on the outside and the BBQ sauce was a little sweet and not too vinegary like some. Mac and cheese was super creamy and not mushy or dried out like other places. The cole slaw was chopped pretty finely but really didn’t have much flavor. Teri’s sausage was good and she shared my feelings on the slaw. Her potato salad was almost a mashed potato salad, with a very few chunks of actual potato pieces. She enjoyed her dinner whereas I found mine to be very average. I ordered buttermilk pie to go, one for me and one for hubby. I will eat mine later but his was gone in about three minutes! Hubby is a pescatarian(fish/seafood only) so I brought him mac and cheese, pinto beans, spicy potatoes and the southwest creamy corn. He proclaimed those all quite tasty. We did see a sign for a Fish Fry on Fridays, so I may bring him here on my next visit. I do plan to return to try the brisket and some of the other meats and side dishes. Everyone we met was friendly, professional and helpful, which is always a nice treat. Speaking of treats, they offer complimentary vanilla ice cream so of course, I had to indulge. Quite good, actually!

Delicious! So glad they opened up in Hurst. Been there a few times. Usually have the lunch special, pork sandwich, 2 sides and drink. Their pecan pie is delicious, too.

Great, friendly family atmosphere. Very sweet lady behind the counter was super nice and made us feel welcomed for our first time. I got the half slab combo. The ribs were literally fall off the bone tender. I prefer ribs with sauce already on the meat, however, the meat barely needed any sauce it was that good. Husband got the three meat special with sausage and brisket. Unfortunately, the brisket was bland and the sausage was just good compared to the ribs. This visit was topped off with free ice cream for the family! Thoroughly enjoyed our visit!

BBQ is tasty, sliced Sausage had a great flavor smoked well and seasoned well in addition. Portions are more than most others chains. Staff is friendly. They have specials and combos. Also free ice cream for the kids after the meal. Sliced brisket could have used a little more flavoring but still pretty good with their bbq sauce. Slides were good as well, Mac n Cheese, Cole slaw, corn etc…

Wow! You walk in the front door and that smokey, meaty aroma attacks your sense of smell bringing out you inner carnivore. That smokey aroma is making a promise to your taste buds that many places don’t live up to, but Soulman’s delivered! The pulled pork was moist, but not fatty and had that awesome smoked flavor that makes me love BBQ. I had the pulled pork platter that comes with 2 sides. The selection of sides was good and typical of BBQ, baked beans, green beans, slaw potato salad, spicy home fries, mac and cheese and more. I tried the slaw and spicy potatoes and both were good. The slaw is a creamy style, not real finely chopped and was a little sweet and very tasty. The added red cabbage to the mix for a little color and a slightly different flavor. The spicy potatoes were tasty with tomatoes, onion and bell pepper in it and a nice little spicy bite. I sampled the mac-n-cheese a person in our party got for a side, I was average, tasting like it was made with cheese sauce and not baked. The other average part of the meal was the bun. It was a nice sized hoagie type of bun that held the generous serving, but it was just a plain white bread bun. Toasting it or having a bun with a little more flavor would have really offset that delicious pork. For those reasons I give 4 stars and not 5, although the pulled pork itself was a definitive 5 stars!

We tried this place for the first time today. After waiting in line for about 20 minutes(with only 4 people in front of us), we ordered our food. Two, 2 meat plates, 2 drinks and one extra side. Total: $ 36.65. Yep, almost $ 40 bucks for the same quality food you can get at Dickie’s for half the price. And probably half the time. The food was fairly tasty, my meat was juicy but my boyfriends sliced brisket was dry. The sides were fresh, but there really wasn’t anything about the cooking or seasoning of the meat or sides that made it stand out from anything else. So, I give it an edible average of two chopped briskests out of five.

Best BBQ I have had in a long time. The portions are generous, the sauce is really good, and the meat is pretty fabulous. I had sliced brisket and pork ribs. I got the end rib, which was a little dry, but passed that they were awesome. My husband had the pulled pork and hot link, he really liked both meats. For sides we had what appeared to be house made creamed corn {yum), fried okra, and spicy potatoes. They had potato salad and cole slaw, the side we had were really good. I look forward to trying their salad next time. They have free ice cream and soda refills. We will be back.

Great find for a Sunday lunch. Portions are generous. Thuy and I split the lunch special, sandwich(chopped beef or pork) with two sides and a drink for around $ 8. We had the pork and it was quite tasty. Surprisingly varied choices in sides, we had fried okra(Thuy’s fav) and Texas creamed corn(had chili peppers I believe), a not seen before item for us. Service was quick and staff was quite friendly. Condiment bar was a bit small and hard to get to, as it’s in a corner next to the drink station and(free) ice cream machine. Bottom line: Our new choice for Que in Hurst. PS. I forgot that cashier suggest I just leave the buck cup in the car, as they will wash it before using it. I have yet to try, but hope to soon.

This was a very fun grand opening. The restaurant is sort of small not sure if they had an extra room for private parties. The food was good they have a variety of meats along with some sides that everyone would enjoy. The drinks are a variety along with sweeten and unsweetened tea. They do have desserts a couple of pies and some banana pudding. The parking outside is also small, but the food will make up for the small parking area.

Very friendly staff. Got our family meal to go. The brisket and sausage are good. The ribs were soso. The bbq sauce is good. There was a large option on sides. More than most bbq places. Defiantly way better than the last restaurant at this location.

Had dinner with my husband at the new Soulman’s in Hurst. Ribs were awesome, fall of the bone, chopped beef was great and the best was the Buttermilk Pie. Pie was homemade by the same person who prepared the meat. Service was excellent and the restaurant was very clean. Will be back again Barb & Chuck Svoboda
