I will forever more be addicted to the fried green tomato blt. Possibly the best thing ever. I don’t even know if I’ll ever venture out and order something different!

Great food. Been there probably thirty times, and only had bad service once(new person). Chicken fried steak and chocolate cake are great.

Great food and atmosphere, I eat here often enough to know, it’s a restaurant people, not everything is going to be perfect every time but when the food or service it’s sub-par, management(Roger)is always there to make it right, and he does. I stop in just for pie and coffee too and I’m always satisfied!

Located in a little strip mall next door to a bar and grill. I mention this because it is hard to see that there is two places. I got blue plate special. Which was roast beef, brown gravey, and butter beans for about $ 8. Pretty good deal and not bad flavor. Recommendation, put it on sliced bread and call it open face sandwich. Ordered peanut butter pie for dessert. That was a little pricey at $ 4.

CFS = CHICKENFRIEDSTEAK DNGNC= DONOTGONEARCLOSING! 3 pics included! See that dreaded spud! -.- I heard the food was awesome here. Went there last night about 8pm. Still really busy. Took 5 min to get seated. My party of 3 all knew what we wanted. Chicken fried steak. First off we were told«We are out of mashed potatoes» Really? Wow But we do have baked potato. So I got the potato. Everyone else got sides of mac and corn. Apps fried pickles $ 7.95 over priced but ok. Food came and looked great. My daughter took a bite of the mac and it was cold. She had waitress take back I assume to nuke it! It came back hot. My CFS was good hot fresh. I dug into the potato and wow. Brown old and cold. The butter was not even melting. I assume this last spud was in the oven for hours. I asked waitress for another“We are out you got the last one” I figured that. I asked for a discount and let her know I was not happy. She didn’t do much and walked away. For a place that says all food cooked to order, I find it hard to believe. Overall the CFS we all agreed was good. Gravy was a little thick. My advice“DNGNC” DONOTGOTHERENEARCLOSINGTIME«YOUWILLBESORRY! No pie review as it seemed all the workers were rushing to get home. If I was the owner and I read this I would be mad as hell… As this is not a chain and can afford to loose guests. All you have to do is make sure your cooks and mgmt have enough of food prepared to deliver what is on your menu. Simple. Wont be going back. Also cooking 101 how not to ruin a baked potato/when to toss and when not to serve… really… that was the kicker! $ 47.003ENTREESAND1SIDE2WATERS. Was it filling? Not at all…

Classic Texas charm, fabulous home style cooking and PIE! What’s not to love! I’ve been here many times and every time has been great! The service can be a little slow when it’s really busy, but our servers have always been polite and apologize for any inconvenience. Parking can also be a bit of an issue, but if you have to park down the street and walk, I don’t think you’ll regret it, plus you get a little exercise to burn off all that pie! I took caution into the wind the first time here and ordered the salmon salad, and wow! The salmon was cooked perfect! I’ve been to fancier, more expensive places(by the beach no less!) and had them mess up cooking salmon. But I’ve ordered it here a few times now, and every time has been perfect! Looking for a one of a kind, mom and pop, local favorite? Look no farther, you’ve found it!

I’ve eaten here twice. If you take the Toll/Loop around Austin, it’s a great place to stop for lunch. It’s full of history in old downtown. Great home cooking. I loved the chicken and dumplings. Ok, I loved the dumplings. You could just serve me a bowl of dumplings and I’d be happy. The pies are awesome. The cook screams a lot — haven’t figured out why but he cooks well enough that you just overlook it. :)

My first time there even though I moved here in 2008. I am kicking myself in the but right now. I am an urban guy big time. I understand how service is supposed to be. I loved the service and guess what the food was awesome to boot. I admit awkward cause no diversity but who cares these guys are respectull and mastered the craft. AWESOME!!!

My second time here. Always good home cooking. I had the meatloaf and my hubby had the chicken fried steak. After that of course we went for pie. Yum yum as usual. More than the food I think you come here for the atmosphere. Nice small town joint. Same servers always, Etc. will visit again when I visit Hutto

Service is not the best, but the pies are. Nice, small-town café. The fired green tomatoes are awesome too. Pie is #1!!!

Been going here for years, server Lori was great, we had cheeseburger with onion rings. Burger cooked prefect, fresh veggies, onion rings handmade with a cornmeal batter. Excellent!!! Also had chopped steak with mushrooms, onions and gravy. Cooked prefect and veggies were great. Packaged gravy was good. But rather have homemade. Sides were zucchini casserole which was great tasting, and broccoli casserole great taste and texture just both were a little cold. Still a great meal overall. Always great food and service

Not a fan. I only wish I had gotten what we ordered. I wanted to try their baked potato, but ended up being served loaded mashed potatoes after the fact. I didn’t care for the abundance of potato skin in the mashed potatoes… or that they were mashed. The catfish breading was good and well seasoned, but the actual catfish was very fishy and the portions of fish were way to thick which caused a very uneven cook on the fish. I think with the right size pieces and less of the brown meet it would have tasted great… The tarter sauce had good flavoring. I also had some of the coconut cream pie, which tasted like a frozen store bought pie… This is definitely not what homemade pie tastes like. I wish that the food would have tasted as good as it looked. Pretty disappointed.

Yummmmmmm! Hutto had a delicious restaurant in town! BURGERS! This place’s burgers are on point! We came here one evening when I was in the mood for a burger. Hell yes, this place totally satisfied that craving and had continued to. Try the bacon and bleu cheese burger. It’s got bleu cheese crumbles AND a delicious bleu cheese dressing plus a pepper crusted, thick sliced bacon. They forgot the bacon on my burger the first time we went but the beef was so good I didn’t notice till half way through. The mushroom Swiss is also excellent. Comes with mayo instead of mustard. If you stick with the fries, as for them extra crispy. They often come out under done :(but seasoned well. So weird. The pies… The pies are the only reason I give this place 4 stars instead of 5. We’ve tried the key lime, the smores, the pecan, the German chocolate… all very unimpressive and covered in so much sugary nonsense. Whipped cream and sprinkles on everything :(just Bleh. I know everyone raves about the pies but I’m so unimpressed by them. Next time we go, we’ll try a fruit pie. Maybe those are the amazing ones? Try the burgers! THEY’REAMAZING.

Let’s talk pie! After a busy day of errands and appointments, I wanted some pie to top it all off. Turned to Unilocal, and, our first stop was a flop as they only specialized in cake. No worries. The Unilocal world of life is like rolling the magic 8 ball sometimes. Yep. Unilocal rolled our asses right into Hutto. God bless Unilocal. Texan Café is old school down home country cookin’. Owned by two guys that know what they’re doing when it comes to pies for sure(We never tried the food). They have a pie lady and she is golden! When it comes to making pies, this woman is walking on water! After walking through the door and picking up the pie menu, I became a little boy in a candy store. Seriously! I went to the pie case so I could see the pies on display, then, I went back to the table and started whispering all the pie selections to my sidekick. He was like«why are you whispering?». I was like«I don’t know». Our waitress was super duper friendly. She giggled at how silly I was acting. I mean come on it’s scratch pies people! Real crust. Real deal. I couldn’t decide, at first, on one single pie. She recommended the«Guy Pie». That is a combination of coconut, banana, and chocolate(i think) cream. Umm. Not today says I. It was pie happy hour, and, I was a little too happy. I wanted some pie damnit! I got pie. We ordered the coconut cream and blueberry a la mode. I am a huge fan of Marie Callender’s Coconut Cream, and I can honestly say that pie pales in comparison to the same here. In other words MC ain’t got shit on these pies! The blueberry was sinful Heavenness(is that a word?). These two pies, with their homemade flaky crusts that literally melt in yo mouth would make a preacher punch a priest! These pies are slap ass delicious! Seriously folks, if you want some damn good homemade scratch pies, come here! So many pies, so many pie holes to stuff. Happy pie hole stuffing! :)

Stopped by here right before Thanksgiving to pick up a couple of pies. The pie display is unreal — I seriously think all the pie flavors I could ever imagine(and many I’d never heard of) were on display. Beautiful and delicious. Service was super quick and friendly, and the space is quaint and charming. Next time, we’re definitely going to sit down for a bite to eat.

The only reason I am giving this one star is because of their pies. We had lunch during the Christmas festival and decided to get a pie to go instead of eating one there. When we got our bill we noticed that the pie was $ 21. We already had the pie and didn’t feel comfortable returning it. So when we got home and decided to eat it, we were disappointed to find out that this $ 21 pie was just completely filled with whip cream with crumbled oreo peices on top with more whip cream on top. It isn’t really a pie. Just a bunch of whip cream. Being a pastry chef, I love to try other people’s desserts. I have had people rave about the pies here so I was excited to try. I don’t even charge $ 21 for my pumpkin pie which I make from fresh pumpkin not and from a can. For $ 21 I would have expected homemade vanilla pudding with oreo peices and maybe an oreo cookie crust with homemade whip cream on top. So disappointed. Our total bill for our family of 5 ended up $ 73 total with tip. My three kids each had a kids meal. It’s hard to believe that with three kids meals, another $ 9 hamburger with a salad, and a salmon Caesar salad, and a pie would that expensive. It sucks spending that much for lunch. We won’t be back.

Went there for happy hour pie which is on a Tuesday to Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. Where you get a pie and a drink of 3.99 plus tax. Absolutely relish! My almond joy pie was delicious and came with a hot tea, which is a great combination. Note do not get the ice water from the city of Hutto. It tastes horrible…

My review is solely on pie & customer service! I stopped in strictly for dessert, and can’t wait to return for dinner.(And more pie!) I had Skillets BBQ for lunch, but had this place bookmarked forever. I was right around the corner, so hells yeah! Pie. This«award winning pie» at that. Yeah! And I was solo — triple yeah! I wanted Rhubarb Pie, Pecan Pie, Cherry Cheesecake, Turtle Pie & Strawberry Cream Cheese Pie — and settled on Strawberry Cream Cheese Pie. As you can see from the pic, it looked delish! It was. It really was. I would loved to have tasted a thicker layer of the sweetened cream cheese, and a little(just a little) less strawberries. Crust was flaky, strawberries perfectly sliced & sweetened and the heap of whip was perfect. The manager was so damn friendly. Made SURE I was interested in coming back for dinner! Showed me the menu & explained why the don’t have TVs in the joint. Takes about the cruises he & his partner take, and the water park trip he’s taking his employees on. Damn fine fella! I’m dying to try the chicken fried steak, so we will be back!
