Grandpa’s Southern Bar-B-Q

This is a favorite. We had the pulled pork parfait and it was perfect portion. It had a layer of pulled pork, Bar– B-​Q beans, then delicious coleslaw on top. I loved it! Also the homemade pies were wonderful. The crust was flakey and light. We tried the buttermilk while the peach cobble was all gone! Had a side dish of collard greens that was exceptional!
The place was a little difficult to find in a old downtown hotel. It’s small and not fancy but we were treated well and no waiting! Food is all homemade and fresh! A must try for those meat eaters. Will make it a favorite when in town!

The BBQ parfait was interesting, but delicious! I have never tasted better pulled pork. The service was wonderful, the guy (I assume he’s «grandpa»?) brought us a little dish of potato soup that was amazing. Both the cobbler and the buttermilk pies are to die for!

Get the Mac n cheese. All the meats were great and both the buttermilk and sweet potato pies were outstanding. Lloyd is from Western Kentucky so he really knows his stuff.

Simply the best BBQ. The service was amazing. You will love the food and will want to come back again.

Definitely a hidden Gem. Best BBQ in the area. Location is interesting but not hard to find. Owner is from the south and the food tasted authentic. I had the triple combo consisting of chicken, brisket and ribs and it was all super tasty. The corn bread was sub par but their side dishes: mashed potatoes, bbq beans and Mac n cheese was phenomenal. To finish things off I had sweet potato pie, delicious, and their buttermilk pie which was out of this world. They were out of pecan pie but I will definitely get that the next time.

Super succulent, scrumptious food. Baked beans are perfect. Loved my pork sandwich. Gumbo incredibly flavorful. Best people ever, too! We were greeted by Lloyd, who welcomed us warmly and made sure we ate well. Definitely planning on coming back if I’m ever in Idaho Falls again.

This is an awesome little place for southern style bbq and food all around. Make sure to get the gumbo and save room for the buttermilk pie!

Really good BBQ. Thank goodness for Unilocal!I ordered the baby back ribs. Great flavor. Not «fall off the bone» like I prefer but good nonetheless. The potato salad is awesome as is the pecan pie. I will be back if I ever pass through Idaho Falls again.

Thank you Lord for the best barbecue I have had in a long time. Chicken ribs and brisket are out of this world. Great hospitality, can’t wait to come back. If you’re in the area looking for some good food you have to get in here.

We broke down and had to take our car to Les Schwab. So we decided to Unilocal and see what was around the area for lunch. We saw BBQ and thought it sounded good. Well we were not disappointed.
At first it is hard to find. You have to go thru the door on the street and then they are in the back of the lobby on the left. It is worth it to search them out.
We were greeted quickly and everyone is super friendly! If you are brave order the «swamp water» for a beverage. It’s delicious. The best way to describe it is a mix between ice tea, lemonade and juice. They will offer you a sample if you ask.
While we were waiting they gave us the gumbo to try. It was very good. I had the pulled pork sandwich w/​coleslaw. The coleslaw has no mayo and is kinda sweet with a crunch. My husband had the brisket w/​potato salad. It is a mustard and pickles type of potato salad. Both delicious!
We will be back if we pass thru Idaho Falls!
