I found this to be the nastiest BBQ period. Is had hunks of fat in the sandwich. It was cold. Also it is most with bread long bun size. No thank you.

Awesome service. Awesome for lunch for smaller group of people. Fast service and you get free vanilla ice cream! Would recommend and will be coming back.

It’s okay, but nothing to write home about. I don’t see any difference between Dickey’s and any other mediocre BBQ joint. On the day we went, even though it was sunny, it didn’t look like they had cleaned the ice off the side walk where the handicap parking was. The men’s bathroom was a mess, with stains on the toilet seat. The food was the same as other places, and even though I told them no pickle, it came with pickle anyway. If you want fair BBQ then this is one of many places you can go. The people behind the counter were very friendly.

Living in Kansas City, I am soooo lucky to be in an area where there are lots of good choices for barbeque. So any chain barbeque place that comes to town had better be able to «bring it». Dear Daughter #1 and I made a visit to the Dickey’s Barbecue Pit location on Noland Road in Independence this week and based on exactly one visit, I’d say I am a fan but with reservations. Let me explain. The location is handy with lots of parking but the inside set up doesn’t lend itself to convenient access. If you come in the entrance on the south side of the building, you must cross in front of the station where the soda and ice tea machines, BBQ sauce choices and free soft serve ice cream are all set up. Come at a busy time and the line to order may extend across this vital area, making for too much congestion. The main menu is on signage above the food prep and serve counter, but because of space constraints it is a little difficult to view once you are standing at the counter, so try to make you choices while waiting. First timers have a whole bunch of choices to make, such as the type of meal — sandwich… meat plate… salad or baker… choice of up to 12 different sides… and that’s just the basics. On a first visit, I generally want to try at least two meats and brisket and sausage are nearly always the ones I want to try. They HAVE to be good to guarantee repeat business from me. Dickey’s came through with two thumbs up. The beef brisket was fork tender and my serving and DD#1’s were more chopped chunks than sliced, which she likes, while I generally prefer slices. That said, this was flavorful, juicy and very tasty. My Polish style Kielbasa was equally yummy. Dickey’s has three basic sauces, Sweet, Original and Hot. My sauce cup had a mixture of the Original and the Hot and it complimented both meats very well. Nearly all the sides were tempting but since I could only have two I went with Fried Onion Tanglers(crispy, salty, lighter than onion rings) and Bacon & Onion Green Beans(Italian flat pod style beans seasoned to enhance the flavor). DD#1 suggested that I try one of her favorites: the Baked Potato Casserole and it did look lovely, so maybe next time. We both did«make it a plate» which gives a bit of a price break and includes a pillowy soft bread roll, good for loading every last morsel of meat on your fork or sopping up a bit of BBQ sauce or green bean juice. A couple of dill pickle chips and two raw onion straws rounded out the combo plate. That brings me to the bill: The Two Meat Plate and a Big Yellow Cup drink set me back over $ 15. So eating at Dickey’s isn’t a cheap lunch. However, the food was quality and the ice cream cones are complimentary. So, sure, I could be persuaded to make another trip to Dickey’s Barbecue Pit when we are in the neighborhood.

We went as a family of 5. So I can review several things. The ribs… Not great over cooked, and had a“crust” cooked on from the rub. For$ 13 the size was small and as I said not great. The big BBQ, was a decent value. Meat was good, but again was expecting more for the price. Sides were tasty and acceptable. Overall we will go back, Oklahoma Joes it is not.

Food was just okay not great my hubby had the ribs not that good he said they where kinda tough and not well cooked. I had the pull pork it was good but, the only thing that turn me off was sitting there and seeing flys around near the tables, that turn me off, it said to me that the place is not that clean, I would not eat there but would order to go.
