Food here is not that great. i found out why. talked with a cook and was told they use instant hash browns and the biscuits are frozen not fresh made on site. that sucks.

I went here after looking at the pictures of the food and was disappointed. I sat at the counter and the man serving me was slow, not patient, and messed up my order. I had to ask for silverware and napkins, and to top it off the sticky bun I was wanting that I saw in the pictures was not in the menu. The food was decent, I had a ham and cheese omelet and hash browns and bacon. Eggs were a little runny. I would probably try somewhere else if back in KC again. Although the biscuits and gravy that is their specialty apparently, looked awesome.

This is the«original» BB and it used to be my favorite place to get a robust breakfast. I would like to give today’s experience about 2.5 stars, mostly for the prompt service and excellent coffee. I ordered the Veggie Scramble without mushrooms, and whole wheat toast. It came promptly, but I noticed that the toast did not have a speck of butter, and the«veggies» were hard to spot. There were a few raggedy strings of spinach and about two tablespoons of chopped tomatoes. I’m not sure if they use real eggs or substitute the liquid or powdered version. A lot of places don’t use authentic eggs because of the high cost. I do wish they would say so on the menu. Service was first-rate and the so was the coffee. But they do need to re-name the«veggie» dishes, or put more veggies in them.

Food was decent. Typical diner food. I was intrigued with the service. The hostess who sat us down and our waitress were very curt. Not friendly or welcoming. This was my first dining experience in the Midwest and thought people would be friendly. Nope. We weren’t being fussy or bad customers … They just seemed like we were an annoyance to them. Too bad for them.

The food was decent but nothing to rave about, their waffle was too dough-y and the fried potatoes were way to salty. The coffee was just ok and the service was very slow. Good price for the amount of food you get.

Wanted to try someplace new for breakfast and decided to try Big Biscuit. I had heard great things things about them. I can honestly say it was nothing NOTHING worth bragging about. The food was mediocre at best. Definitely overpriced! I would advise anyone who wants a good breakfast to avoid Big Biscuit!

Still awesome. Incredible big biscuits, good service and a really tasty breakfast. Had the large ham steak and over medium eggs with hash browns and really enjoyed it. We also tried the corned beef hash with eggs, also very good. Took 4 extra biscuits with us, so good. The OJ is nothing special but the food is comfort food at its best.

Best Breakfast place in Independence! I love the people, the atmosphere and the food is amazing! They give out cards you get punched when you go there for free meals to get once the card is filled up. I have never had one bad experience at this place and been there several times, the Country Benedict is epic and a huge amount of food, the biscuits and Gravy is the best anywhere, huge and savory pancakes and my OJ glass never got empty. Even my girlfriend and her friend that had never been there before loved the place and the food

This is my first review of the restaurant. However, I have eaten here multiple times. The food has always is good, but the wait staff is sometimes overwhelmed with the number of patrons. I will really come back, but not during the weekend. Since we came on a Saturday morning, we had to wait on a table. That was not a problem. However, so many people left when we were waiting that one would have thought that a table(s) would be available shortly. What I observed was that there were appeared to be an adequate number of waitresses, but the bus staff needs to step up. Too many hostesses for this business, so someone might want to reschedule who works where and when.

The server was very nice but ultimately I am coming to a restaurant for the food first. I ordered the two eggs with bacon, sub cottage cheese for potatoes and sub tomatoes for toast. The cottage cheese was rotten, yes rotten. After I brought it to the server’s attention she quickly brought me some toast. I chased down my rotten cottage cheese with toast and a few gulps of water. Eggs and bacon were just ok. My companion ordered the pumpkin pancake. It was VERY, VERY, dry and lacking pumpkin flavor. Imagine licking a paper towel with cracker crumbs on top. The ultimate disappointment was when the check came. I expected the meal with the rotten cottage cheese to receive a full credit. They did not even provide a credit for the rotten cottage cheese. Really, you serve rotten food and charge me. Sigh. The back of the restaurant has a serious building issue too. Management needs to address quality control, customer service, and facility issues which may be a building code violation. I’m positive serving rotten food is a health code violation. Get it together The Big Biscuit/Hormel Foods.

We stopped in for lunch and had tenderloin sandwiches. Hot and good… good value for the $. We sat at the bar so we didn’t have to wait on a table. Service was great.

We tried this place yesterday after church. Let me start off by saying that I never like writing bad reviews. I myself rely on reviews before trying places. Okay, so in saying that… this place does’t even deserve the 1 star. I noticed they hadn’t received an awarded Top Restaurant sticker like they had in years passed. This may be why… It wasn’t the 27 minute wait outside that bothered me. I can appreciate small places and large crowds. The parking lot is a nightmare! Not only can you not turn around, but when you go back to Hwy. 40 to swing back around, it’s a one way. So plan on going to the light a couple of times. Also, I know they can’t help who frequents their restaurant, but while waiting I had to distract my young daughter from reading the shirt of the woman waiting aside us. Which read, «Men suck because they’re M — -F — -ers», only it read the entire thing. What bothered me is how filthy our table and chairs were when we were finally seated. I had to dust off my chair before sitting. I’m not just being picky… it looked like a toddler had maybe sat there before me and wiped their hands on everything. Still… I’m a Mom, I get it. I cleaned it off. The waitress came over and looked frazzled. No smile, very impatient stance while asking what we would like. I told her we had never been here so I would need to look at the menu. He response: For drinks? I said okay, I’ll take coffee. It was rushed and unprofessional. Honestly if I had time to look at the menu I would have ordered lunch and gotten water, but instead chose breakfast based on my rushed coffee request. The food was greasy and cold. We didn’t even eat ½ of our food and I felt sick for the rest of the day. So for my husband, 11 year old daughter, and myself the check was $ 40!!! What?! We noticed she charged my daughter food as sides instead of her kids meal. Our waitress never did come back so we couldn’t tell her. We bit the bullet and just left cash(plus tip because I’m not a jerk) on the table. We will NEVER go back. I will forever try and talk anyone out of going to this place should they mention their interest in front of me.

While on a road trip we stopped in here for breakfast and were pleasantly surprised. All of the staff were super friendly, the food was pretty good and the atmosphere was cool. The place is covered in really cool photos(think Lucille Ball and John Wayne).

I really enjoyed The Big Biscuit. It’s unpretentious diner food. Great service, great food, great portions, at a reasonable price. I had the Big Breakfast. It was that. Everything as ordered. I mean, how difficult is it to cook an egg? Very difficult for some places. This place was perfect. Pancakes the size of your plate. Soft and delicious. Coffee was decent, not gourmet, but good. Service was excellent. They even warmed our mugs up. You bet this place gets busy and you will have to wait if you come too late. There’s a reason for this that, this place is really good.

I have been here many times, but the first time since I started on Unilocal. As always the restaurant is clean and the wait staff very friendly but in the case of our waitress today who I won’t name her name was very inattentive, not once did she stop and ask if everything was ok, or find out if we needed more coffee and only saw her when she took our order and eventually had to ask the manager for our ticket And you may ask then why did you give it a 4 star, simple because the food is always good and you get a lot for what you order and the price is always right. I have never had a complaint about the food here no matter what I ordered Part of why I enjoy coming here is that it is a small diner on steroids, meaning I have never been here when it wasn’t extremely busy, which is a good sign especially on a Wednesday morning. …I would advise if you are going to come here on a Saturday or Sunday morning though., you had best be there before 9 or you WILL be waiting a while, but it is worth the wait Great food, usually good wait staff but 1 person won’t keep me away… I would say Best Breakfast in Independence or is it Kansas City… maybe Raytown. …If you live in the area there you get the joke… iffy not I don’t have time to explain My name is Bill Lockhart and I approved this Unilocal
