Cindy and her daughter are amazing and make you feel so comfortable! There is convenient parking and they work hard to accommodate any of their customer’s needs to make sure the experience is positive(ie: cucumber water, comfortable waiting room, etc.) This is a family owned and run business and I wouldn’t go anywhere else!

Long story short: Lily at Urban Gypsy is my stylist and I highly recommend her, see below for why. Regarding Urban Gypsy, the salon is cute, and the store section is fun to browse before or after an appointment. Highly Recommend. Backstory: It’s hard to find a stylist who will both listen to you regarding what you want, but is also ready & willing to offer suggestions when you are ready to switch things up. At my first visit with Lily almost a year ago, I walked in with an over-grown mop of hair like a chia pet because I had been without a stylist for awhile. I personally think finding a new hair stylist is a terrifying ordeal. I’ve had some horrible haircuts in my lifetime, and that is always the gamble you take when trying somewhere new. Lily took the time to assess my hair, ask me about my daily routines(i.e. how much time I spend getting ready, which let’s be honest, I’m low-maintenance & I don’t even dry my hair most mornings), asked me about what styles I’d had in the past, etc. I was instantly comfortable chatting with her(not always the case with new people), and within the hour, I walked out of the salon with one of the best haircuts I had ever had. No one else has been allowed to touch my hair with scissors since that time. I’ve recently started venturing into hair-color, and have been leaning heavily on what Lily thinks would be best for my cut, complexion & personal style. Both hair color services I have had so far have been excellent, and my most recent one has already received a lot of compliments. As long as Lily is working in the Indy-area, I can’t imagine letting anyone else touch my hair. In addition to her excellent hair skills, it’s just fun to chat & catch up with Lily each visit(& her friend Miriam who works in the same room). The awkward small-talk conversations of styling visits used to be something I dreaded, but I look forward to catching up with Lily & Miriam each visit now. They’re fun and hilarious. The salon itself is really cute. It’s located in a converted house in Broad Ripple, and has an inviting atmosphere. It has ample parking when you include the little lot that is to the side of the building, which isn’t always the case with Broad Ripple businesses. I love that there is a little boutique section of the store, including jewelry, accessories, hair products, some clothing, and other fun items. I like to browse the store before or after appointments when there is time. Also of note, this location uses the«Spot On» service. So be sure to «check-in» when visiting the salon or store to rack up points toward rewards for products or services. Urban Gypsy isn’t convenient to my home or commute, but it is worth the extra driving for the outstanding services. I Highly recommend Urban Gypsy & Lily for anyone looking for a new stylist.

Roxy is amazing and my absolute favorite waxer ever! She is funny and witty and will help you forget about the horrendous treatment(waxing) you are getting done.

This is the absolute best salon for French bikini waxing. Roxy is friendly, professional and truly cares about her service. I’ve been receiving services from her for more than a year and she is the best. The space is private and everyone in the salon is so nice. I highly recommend Urban Gypsy.

My hair stylist Miriam is newer to Urban Gypsy, but she’s been working with me to get my hair healthy for over a year. After years of box dying my hair Miriam stripped the black out, & matched my natural hair color perfectly! Now I see her for regular trims & highlights but she’s always introducing me to new products & techniques. So, regardless of whether you want a whole new look or just a fresh cut, I definitely recommend Miriam & Urban Gypsy! Everyone I’ve interacted with that is so friendly, plus there’s a cute little clothing/jewelry store you can browse in the back! :)

Miriam is my hair stylist and she is amazing! She’s super creative with cut and color. You can tell that hair styling is her passion. She’s also great at taking direction from you about what you want, but making it even better than what you thought it could be. She’s really great at her job and my forever stylist!

This is a great little place! Tucked in the northern end of Broad Ripple, right across from the vintage store. Urban Gypsy personifies the eclectic charm we’ve come to know and love from Broad Ripple! I highly recommend you see Miriam or Lily! I’ve seen them for years and followed them over here from their old salon. I most recently saw Miriam and can not rave about my hair enough! I wanted to brighten up my hair for the upcoming summer season just a bit. Miriam recommended just a few coppery highlights around my face and through the ends. They’re very subtle and natural looking but gave me that little bit of «oomph» that I was looking for! I can’t recommend enough!

I just switched stylists and salons(so this was my first time at Urban Gypsy) and had a great appointment with Lily! I wanted to switch it up and try something new with my hair and both she and Miriam were so helpful with suggestions. The experience was so fun and they made me feel great about my new hair cut! I’ll definitely be coming back to Urban Gypsy!

I just had my first appointment with Cindy this week for a Brazilian. I love this place! Cindy is so welcoming and friendly. She takes the time to ask about any health conditions you may have or if you’re taking any medications. A previous review mentions having a wax done in the basement and there being no door to the room. No idea what she’s talking about. Absolutely no problems with privacy as there was a door on the room and definitely not in the basement. Cindy is the fourth esthetician I’ve visited in the city for a wax and she’s by far the best. I’ve recommended her to others already. The online booking is also a HUGE plus! I think Cindy’s prices are spot-on. I’ve paid a lot less for a wax and the ol’ «you get what you pay for» when it comes to a wax is so true.

Great service! Called and they got me in the same day! Great atmosphere, great staff! Will did an amazing job on my hair and took the time to listen to what I wanted… After being new to area and having several bad haircuts I was so excited to find this gem in Broadripple!

Great family owned hair salon. I have had my hair colored and cut by a few different people here. Chris is my favorite. He is super friendly and always has great suggestions. I have done all different kinds of colors to my hair and loved the color every single time. I believe they do tanning and brazillians to but I haven’t tried them for that because I already found my favorite place for brazillians.

Chris is my stylist and he does the best, most natural-looking highlights and color, knows how to cut my curly hair to diminish the«poof» factor, and does an excellent, bouncy blowout.

Love this place! I’ve been going for several years now and the quality and price can’t be beat. The entire staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating(there have been a couple times I’ve had to reschedule and they’ve worked with me every time. Once they even helped schedule me so I could get a Brazilian wax and haircut in the same day). I would highly recommend my stylist Chris – he’s not only professional, timely, and skilled but also great to talk to! I’ve unfortunately moved away from the area but every time I come back I always make sure to book an appointment.

Cindy and her family are the best. However, I really do not understand how they received a «best Brazilian wax» award. I visited the salon right after broad ripple had major flooding. Cindy mentioned it had affected their salon. Well. Guess where they do the waxing? The basement. I also disliked the fact that there was no door. There were people getting their hair done upstairs and likely heard me Unilocaling(pun intended). It was honestly the worst wax I ever received. Maybe Cindy was having an off day, but she called me a «bleeder» like it’s some regular occurrence for some clients. that is not normal. I couldn’t lay on my stomach or touch the area for almost 2 days. it is also the most expensive wax I’ve ever had. I would suggest going to European Waxing Center in Carmel. They are all professionals and they have excellent prices.

Don’t get a massage here unless you feel like being sexually harassed for 70 $ an hour. I would give it no stars if possible.

Tried this place for a brazilian wax from a friend’s recommendation. Not too much of a fan, the place I regularly go to is much better. My dislikes: 1) Lady took way longer than a ½ hour to do my Brazilian(too long in my opinion) 2) She used hard wax on certain spots which I personally hate, and when I tried to get her to do the other way, she was quite resilient in doing so 3) Was more ‘painful’ than another place I regularly go to(and I’ve been getting brazilians for more than year) It’s an okay place, but I’d go elsewhere.

I can see why they keep winning awards in Indy: This is a seriously professional Brazilian. Cindy is thorough and professional and makes it as easy as possible. The whole process took 30 minutes and the flat-screen tv on the wall playing comedies really helped distract me. It’s never fun to get it done, but this was the best result so far! I will be back.
