We don’t have many places like this in Phoenix. It’s a dirty little stand with good food. I had a pastrami sandwich fries and a shake. The pastrami was small but good I expected a huge sandwich the fries were excellent, homemade chip fries.

This place makes the most simple burger taste great. Nothing fancy just good cheap food. Ask for a pastrami burger. Awesome. Not on menu. This is NOT a fancy place a real dive as restaurants go but it is good value for what you get.

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid. For an inexpensive burger it tastes awesome. But what really keeps me coming back are the fries. They are the best and still taste the same as when I first had them as a kid.

Do not stop here! The burger meat is smaller than McDonalds and it only comes with pickles and a drop of mustard. The«fries» are potato skin covered grease slivers.

Honestly I don’t know why this place has 4 stars. The burgers are small and the fries tasteless. This a HORRIBLE place to get a burger. The customer service was just as bad. Do not come here unless you want to hangout with the gang in the parking lot that sells stolen tvs and brew. I’ll never come back.

Love this place!!! Really takes me back to when I was a kid. Foods good and not expensive. You get what you pay for.

Decent spot for a burger and other quick fast food items. In an old gas station and has a tiny liquor store that sells beer and sodas. Figured I’d try this over corporate crap.

Sorry people this place is disgusting… The cheeseburger was abysmal… reminded me of what I remember Mcdonalds being like. No lettuce, no tomato it just felt like it had been sitting around and the beef was clearly a frozen factory made patty. Just go to In and Out!!!

For what it is, Burger Box does a good job. Cheap, tasty burgers, friendly staff and quick service. We usually get our food to go because there are only a few tables outside and it’s lacking in ambiance. The price is right for a quick burger fix. :)

Finally stopped into this place. I genuinely thought it was closed for a while, but, it is open still. This place gets a solid 3 stars at best. It was nothing special and only memorable because of its location lol. If I’m driving by and hungry I might stop by again. It’s not something I’d have cravings for. The Cheeseburger was good at best. It wasn’t great at all. It was just good. Had the basics; mustard ketchup pickles and onions. That’s it. It gets served to you nice and hot with melty cheese and a soft bun. But that’s it. Nothing great about it at all. Not even the price. I’d rather throw in a extra buck if that(literally) and get a double burger from the burger place with an arrow«cough cough» and get the works, but that’s just me. The fries are good. Just potatoes cut into really thick chips and lightly salted. I do give them credit for using fresh cut potatoes and not frozen freezer burned crap in a bag. Again nothing great about them either. But they are good. Fried chicken basket again, was just OK. It came with 3 good size pieces, some fries, and a toasted bun. The flavor was good. Sort of bland with nothing interesting to my palate at all. The batter was thin, not as thick as your typical fried chicken, but it was crispy. My chicken was pretty dry. Not even slightly moist. I noticed it was sitting under a hot lamp when I got there but gave it a shot anyway. It didn’t seem like it was there for too long but long enough to dry it out. Or maybe they should give it a quick brine, not to sure. The date shake gets 5 stars. It was delicious. Very flavorful. Nice consistency. Not to thin not to thick. And the price was great. Very refreshing in a hot day.

Are you ready for an adventure? This is literally a hole in the wall burger joint. Right on Indio Blvd. surrounded by old seedy motels and trailer parks, this unassuming former gas station houses cheap, simple, and delicious burgers! I had to try it out after all the great reviews on Unilocal and I wasn’t disappointed. They are really good. 2 things to note though. 1. The burgers are SMALL. Think Whitecastle if you’ve ever had one. A double cheeseburger was the size of a kids hamburger from McDonalds and 2. There are flies EVERYWHERE! When I mean everywhere, I mean everywhere! If this doesn’t throw you off, then go try this place, it’s really worth it.

4stars for the burger 4 stars for the service. Ok here’s the break down: i like my burgers without cheese, ordered double burger, two patties with pickles, fresh onion and buns. Simple as that! No sauce or lettuce. The meat was fresh, so was the buns, pickles were crunchy(next time I will ask for extra pickles). This burger was not greasy at all! It did not leave an after taste like the chain burger joints due to their sauce. Their fries were not the typical French fries, it’s cut like discs, it’s excellent ! You would need to eat them right away because it will get soggy if you wait! The vanilla milkshake was delicious! Next time I will get the basket of chicken(didn’t know it was fried chicken) with my burger!

This place has really good burgers. The fries are unique and hand cut sliced circles. They got date shakes that are really good also. The building is really cool also it’s like a 50s throwback. I would do only do this if it was my place. I would rename it fries and flies or I would clean up the area and get rid of the hundreds of flies that are always around the place. If you decide to eat there the flies will tickle your arm.

Saw this appearing in my newsfeed so decided to check it out. Place is an old non working gas station. Sort of a hole in a wall except that there’s no wall. Place is clean enough to dine. Ok. Got me a pastrami burger with cheese. The verdict… Not bad. Fresh onions with mustard plus the fresh buns with the meat. Burger is thin but juicy enough to taste. Got me some chips to go with it and its good enough. The best part is that they have some date shakes. Will probably come back. Maybe.

One of the best fast food spots in the Coachella valley to have a one of the best burgers, fries, milkshakes an so on. The food is always on point! An never disappointing. The service is excellent an worth the wait if it ever takes long. I highly recommend this little burger spot any day.

Ok let’s see… I’ve had burgers w/a king, in a parlor, in a basket, but in a box? Nope, better investigate this further. Burger Box, situated out in the desert in the city of Indio, is a hidden spot for some no frills quick service eats. They don’t have an extensive menu, but what they do serve up here is quite good. First, let me start out by saying this place looks like death. I’m not trying to be rude, but to quote Sergeant Calhoun from«Wreck It Ralph» this place looks like«Doomsday and Armageddon just had a baby and it is ugly!» This place is housed on the property of what appears to be a old run down gas station that was closed a long time ago. It doesn’t appear to be in a very prominent location and there are train tracks right across the street and, yes, a train did come clanking by during my visit. I did not see any random cars passing on the street and the cars I did see were either arriving or leaving here. This place doesn’t look like much, and I thought I had passed it until I saw their sign. Heck, I don’t live in the desert so the only reason I stopped was because I saw the high reviews on Unilocal(and I’m a sucker for burgers). BUT, as they say, you simply can’t judge a book by its cover. I parked my car, got out, and looked over their menu. They offer burgers(a hamburger, cheeseburger, double hamburger, or double cheeseburger), hot dogs, burritos, a fish sandwich, fries, drinks, milkshakes, pastrami, chicken nuggets, and a «Chik’n Box». No, looks like the burgers were not served in boxes after all. They have two windows: the left side is where you place your order and the right is where you pick up/pay. I noticed they also take phone orders as well. Holy geez is this place cheap! I paid $ 5.50 after tax for a double cheeseburger and a small date shake. Wait, what? Yep, you read right, a date shake. Indio is known for their dates so this little joint that could pays homage to that by offering probably their most diverse item on their menu, the nefarious date shake. This costs a little bit extra as opposed to their standard vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry shakes($ 2.69 for a small size), but this place is already so cheap so it’s really no big deal. I must admit, as I was standing there waiting for my food, I surveyed my surroundings and noted how run down everything looked: they had outside seating tables I decided I wasn’t going to eat at, there were flies buzzing around annoying the crap out of me and as I was glazing over their menu again, I couldn’t help but think that the prices were so cheap because the food was bad. Did other Unilocalers lead me astray? Would the old moniker«you get what you pay» hold true here? I still thought this as I received my food and headed back to my car to grub. Well, my momentary fears were unfounded. The cheeseburger tasted great! It had that old fashioned style look and taste to it and the cheese was melted nicely. There were no frills to this burger as it only consisted of the two ¼ lb beef patties, cheese, mustard, onion, and pickles. Boy did it hit the spot! And that date shake? O.M.G. It was amazing!!! And I was surprised how big the small size was; definitely more than enough! So, while Burger Box may not be the prettiest thing to look at, their majorly affordable prices, friendly service, and rather tasty food earn themselves another visit from me as well as my recommendation.

Feeling a lil sentimental about«the old days»? Stop here and grab a bite of the past! These aren’t my stomping grounds but it sure reminds me of where I grew up! Your definitely buying nostalgia… and at old school prices! The fries are AMAZING! Truly the best fries I’ve ever had. They’re cut short ways so you get these thick fried chips that are crispy but soft… it’s hard to explain! You just have to try them. I drive out of my way just to get some fries. A box of fries(small fries) is 1.29. Double cheese burger is Yuuummy! It’s a simple ¼ lb burger with cheese mustard mayo n pickles. There fish is okay. Super greasy. They’re basically like a van de kamp fish. As long as I’m alive n as long as they’re in business, I’ll always find my way here to satisfy my «burger box» craving!

Cheap burgers! That don’t taste bad either. Rather plain though but if you want some quick grub this is it. I don’t care for there fries there like big chunks of potatoe slices it seems they never fully cook them for me. There date shakes are amazing though and cheap! You stand in line outside order your food… wait in there lil shaded area or in your car.

If you have been living in the desert for a couple years now and have YET to eat at Burger Box or tried there food, then clearly you’re doing something wrong or your friends have failed you! Anyways, this is a place desert natives need to cross off their list of trying. It’s off Indio Blvd just pass Madison and before Clinton. It’s adjacent to a convenience store. You can take your order to go or eat there. Cash is good, but they do take Visa and MasterCard… no American Express! The hot sauce here is AMAZING! You must put it on any of your hot food and always ask for extra hot sauce because trust me haha I always get the bean burritos just so I can pack them with hot sauce, but the burgers will do as well. Milkshakes here are very good too! The basket o’ chicken isn’t my go to, but will do the job. Warning if you’re going to eat here, be prepared to eat on their outdoor area and be bothered with a few flies! No outdoor A/C or misting, so just an FYI. The staff here are Hispanic, but they can speak English so be prepared to ask them to repeat themselves when they speak Spanish and you only know English haha Plenty of parking here! Staff is always helpful and friendly! Great food and hot sauce!
