A W Salon

Just had the most bizarre experience. Made an appointment at AW and everything was confirmed with texts, etc. I went in and they didn’t have my appointment in the system. After haircut was done, I was told I got my haircut from Danckut’s?!? Ended up with the worst hair cut and worse didn’t even get a haircut from who I was supposed to. Worst and most confusing haircut experience ever. And no in there from AW at the salon at all and no one to tell me what was going on.
Would never come here again especially since they don’t understand responsibility and customer experience.

Went the first time to get a simple cut from Allison because she’s next to the hidden gem Quickly! Lets be honest, I could’ve went to any other salon to get a haircut, but I like how Allison is so detailed when she cuts hair! I would really recommend you schedule an appointment with her because things could get a little busy over there. Overall good customer service and good haircut! Will be definitely coming back for more haircuts.

I have known Allison for a long time. She used to do my hair but as time went on and we got older/​busy/​kids/​work, it had been some years since she had done my hair. But her salon is so great! I stopped by when it was being built and the finished product is really nice. And I love Allison’s style of doing hair. For me, I like sexy, sleek, long hair and she always does it like that. The cut is so good that I still get compliments when my hair isn’t even styled, just air dried after a shower!
AW Salon is drama free, good vibes, no cattiness and no gossip. Which I love. Because I’ve been to salons where you can just FEEL drama going on behind the scenes. And who likes that? That’s not this salon. And thank goodness for that!

Love Allison! She does such a great job.
She has fine tuned her craft to prefection. Allison takes the time to really listen to her clients needs. She has a very positive and upbeat attitude. .

I wanted to write an update and respond to the owner’s comments on my previous review.
All of my «acquisitions» opps, I mean accusations are in fact true, simply stating that they aren’t doesn’t make them any less true. The business owner claims to not know who I am, which is fine as she was not my stylist. Between March 2015 and August 2015, I went to this salon and witnessed firsthand everything in my review. The salon did start out fine, but as time went on there were numerous problems as the result of being poorly managed.
Allison H. (the business owner) did in fact cut my husband’s hair and she did a terrible job.
I think it is incredibly bizarre that this business owner has taken my poor review of her salon as a personal attack. I don’t «dislike» her, I don’t know her personally to even begin to form an opinion on her. A belief that any negative opinion of her hair cutting ability or salon management must be because someone doesn’t «like her» is ridiculous. If she is implying that I wasn’t actually a customer of her salon, I have included screenshots of 3 charges from AW Salon to my credit card as proof (I have numerous others). I spent thousands of dollars here during the time I was a patron and pretending as though I wasn’t a customer because she doesn’t like my opinion just won’t fly.
Instead of crying afoul because I have a negative opinion of the salon, better the salon and fix the issues. I had a valid customer experience at this salon and it was negative, maybe others didn’t but I did and I have every right to share my opinion and experience with the people on Unilocal because that is what this website is for. It isn’t a place for friends and family to only write glowing 5-​star reviews. Which by the way let’s talk about honesty, there is a fake 5-​star review from the business owner’s mother Cynthia H., who actually was working for the business for a while at the front desk. I have also included a screenshot of Cynthia H.‘s profile pictures which include a picture of her «beautiful daughter Allison (the business owner).»
She also did write me a message here on Unilocal asking me to stop writing «nasty reviews about her on her account» whatever that means. Can I not write a negative review about my experience because it was … negative and not 5-​star? Sure, let me get right on that. I am not going to fight with this business owner as it is a waste of time and petty to say the least. However, I will respond to allegations that my review was not true or the implication that I was not actually a customer in an attempt to discredit me. Almost every business has negative reviews, take the criticism, try to be better, and move on.

I had a fantastic experience at A.W. Salon last week! not my usual venue, but I was especially beastly and needed a cut. Everything was really clean, very friendly staff, and the atmosphere was good. Allison suggested trimming my eyebrows, I let her. I liked that an honest opinion is hard to come by. I will be back for sure! Thank you for making me handsomer.

I discovered Allison, the owner of A W Salon around 10 years ago from reading a great review of her on Unilocal.All these years later, Allison is still who I trust with my hair. She is not only exceptional in her stylist abilities, but she also offer her beautiful salon, top of the line products, all in comfortable, modern setting. Allison is always up to date in the industry, offering her stylists continuing education and a beautiful place to create in. Her own expertise in color and cuts for both men and women is unparalleled. She welcomes all into her salon with a big smile, generous hospitality, and the warmth of being in her home away from home.

I’m an avid reviewer on various sites and so I had to leave one for AW, especially since I don’t believe in posting false or negative reviews to be spiteful or nasty. AW Salon is a cute chic salon with great stylists. All the furniture and overall salon styling is very bright, unique, and upscale. It’s also nice that the salon uses really high end products that aren’t readily available — Davinas is a great line and I’ve been using it for a couple years so I’m glad that I can get it from my salon now. Plus the stylists are great about giving you samples so you can try it before you buy it.
Each time I’ve been to AW Salon there’s been lots of music with a good vibe. To address some of the negative comments — I’ve been to AW during the summer while it was hot. The salon was a good temperature, I was not sweating. Is it possible the stylists were hot? Possibly… I sweat myself when I’m blow drying my own hair at home and my AC is running. But as the customer, I was not sitting there in my own sweat. Neither did I see or hear other stylists sweltering in the heat. But again, could they have been sweaty working? It’s possible but I think the other reviews are a bit «dramatic» to say the least.
Did the salon run out of towels when I was there? Well, they almost did once. The salon was busy and almost every stylist was working… I heard the owner send out an assistant to buy more black towels because they were running low that day. On every other occasion there have been PLENTY of towels. As a business owner you’re always going to run into something — did they completely run out of towels and leave clients dripping with wet hair? Absolutely not. Were the towels low that day? Yes… did they resolve it immediately, YES!
I’ve always been very pleased after a visit to AW. I actually drive from the San Diego area just to get my hair done here and trust me I have A LOT of options from my house and the entire drive up! Allison does a great job, is passionate about her work and ensuring her clients are happy and that the business looks good. I like the prices I pay for my cut/​color and the products. I don’t normally post this kind of review but its unfortunate that people can post negativity for the sake of being negative. AW is a great salon with a bright future — support small business and women owned business. Period.

I have followed Cristi since I moved to CA 10 years ago. She is hands down the best colorist in Orange County. In addition, her hair cutting skills are second to none. Her cuts are always stylish and flattering. In fact, I can go for at least 8 weeks before I see her again and my hair still gets compliments. I’ve since moved but always end up taking the time to make the drive to go back to get my hair cut & colored by Cristi. I think she is on the higher end in terms of cost but honestly, she is worth every dollar. The precision in how she colors and cut is not easy to replicate.
Save yourself time searching, make an appointment with Cristi and start loving your hair. Just be ready for a ton of compliments!

Cristi is great. I would follow her anywhere. She does a rest job with the cut and color. The cut always grows out nicely.

I have always been scared to cut my long hair and try something else but Allison is so nice and made me feel comfortable, she knew from the moment I got there and told her what I wanted she knew what to do! I prefer someone who takes their time with me the first time to get it right and keep the customer happy. My new favorite salon I highly recommend Allison to anyone!

Followed Corinne over here from her previous salon and I LOVE it! Everyone is so friendly and helpful and the salon is so cute. Corinne has been doing my hair for about 8 years now and has always done a wonderful job. She takes the time to listen to me and always gives me exactly what I ask for! See you in 8 weeks, Corinne!

I’ve been having my hair cut and colored by Allison, the salon owner, for over 10 years now. She keeps up with current trends with her training. She really cares about her clients and goes above and beyond to please them. She has also done the Brazilian straightening on my hair as well. I trust her so much now that I pretty much let her do whatever she wants with my cut and color. She just opened this new chic salon and has a team of very professional stylists on board to work with her. I highly recommend A W Salon.
