It’s a toss up on this review. or should I say a flip. Cause while the bacon burger was made oh so delicious with just the right balance of bacon crispness and the flavors were just right. The fries were the weakest link of the dish. I guess it’s just part of the curse that if you have good burgers(in-n-out) then your fries are going to be lacking. Maybe it’s cause the burger is so good that it highlights the fact that the fries aren’t anything to talk about, hell, there things you just don’t want to talk about at all. One thing that sucks about this truck is that they really don’t do much in the way of promoting themselves. I stumbled upon them by accident because of my raging alcoholism. I went to Bootleggers cause I needed me some Knuckle Sandwich DIPA and seeing this truck there had me thinking this was somehow new. Nope, at least according to the reviews so far, this sucker has been cruising the OC for a while now. I couldn’t find any social media for it and for a while I thought it was the flip truck. Which I guess is going to be a confusing matter that you have two burger theme trucks in the area with Flip in the name. Either way, the burger is really good all on its own and while the fries don’t live up to any sort of expectation, they were still decent enough to eat.

Had my first experience with this food truck at the OC Foodie Fest today. They are all nice people, and I’ll try them again someday, but it wasn’t the greatest first meeting… I’m a sucker for sliders, so a slider truck that I hadn’t seen before grabbed my curiosity. I ordered the BBQ Bacon Chipotle, with fries and a strawberry lemonade. The person in front of me ordered a slider and lemonade, and received his order and ate his slider… while I still waited. Aware of what happened, the ladies in the truck asked if I’d received my order, and I said«no». A little while later, they confessed that they thought somebody else got my order, so they’d give me some extra fries. Honestly, I appreciated that… not only the awareness of my not having received the order, but the effort to correct it or make up for it was both nice and appropriate. When i got my order, I found that i’d been given not only a double order of fries, but I also got a slider that I hadn’t ordered! Maybe it was meant for me, maybe not — I took it as another apology, which I accept and give thanks for. Unfortunately, the fries were not good. They were soaked in truffle oil(and I’m not a big fan of truffle oil), maybe even cooked in it. The problem was that the fries wee undercooked, to the point that the centers of most of the fries still had some raw-potato crunch to them. Perhaps the crew was rushing to get me my already late order? if so, I’d have happily waited another minute to get properly cooked fries. The effort was there, but the delivery fell short. The sliders were good. Not OMG great, but definitely solid. King’s Hawaiian bread is great for sliders, and I was happy to see that the truck was well stocked with them. Good sliders, good ingredients, and well executed. I hope I find this truck again, as I’ll give them another try. Sliders are good, had a bad experience with service and fries, but not bad enough to scare me away forever.

I caught up with Aaron Craver and«Flipped Out Burgers and More» today near the Habitat For Humanity in Garden Grove. I’m telling you if you haven’t tried him out yet, you’re missing some seriously good food. Today I sampled the BBQ Pork Taco’s, 4 Cheese Patty Melt, french fries, and churros with salted caramel sauce. OK, my favorite of the day was the BBQ Pork Tacos. Roasted corn tortillas, chopped BBQ pork with with BBQ sauce, cabbage and a little bit of cheese. There was a smoky sweetness I liked and the tangyness of the BBQ and pork was a nice foil. The mild cabbage added a nice crunch factor. If you like patty melts, The 4 cheese melt I ate will please. A great quality patty, cooked medium well and juicy with the traditional four cheese blend on grilled bread. Meaty, cheesy goodness! The french fries are also good. Great fresh potato flavor cooked crisp but soft inside. Don’t spoil them by drowning them with ketchup! Salty caramel sauce. ‘Nuff said. I finished the churros and still had some sauce left. My fingers never tasted so good.
