the selection of food and variation is fantastic. however one day we were there and the food was not warm. i let a manager know and he turned on the steam tables they forgot to turn them on. beware food was very cold that day and not sanitary.

I guess this is my go to place, When I want fresh, friendly, and affordable. Please check out my previous reviews for this establishment. There only drawback is in the atmosphere, and I’m not about to the doctor I am tire star just because the place is a few years old.

The food its ok. Unfortunately they pick up all the sushi and Mongolian grill at 9:20pm 40min before closing. All the options should be available if the restaurant its open. I didn’t pay less than the table you guys serve at 8:00

First visit there for lunch. Staff was there to greet you and very friendly and quick even at the night of the lunch hour. Place was clean and wait staff very efficient and friendly. As for the food. The Mongolian side was a bit of a waste since you had to find the bell to ring., would have more business if someone was there the whole time. As for the sushi. Very basic but was fresh and well made. Have to try the Kim chee was good. As for the selection was of and everything was cooked well and nothing too dry,

Upon entering, East China Buffet felt like a decent place. It had adequate seating with booths on its periphery and different sized tables all around. For it size, the placement of Mongolian grill and sushi bar on one side and other usual Chinese fares on the other side felt apt. I was, however, really disappointed with the taste of the food. The most disturbing thing was the taste of fried rice, egg rolls and noodles: both Lo mein and thin rice noodles were bad in texture and taste; how could you get that wrong in a Chinese place. Their salad bar or whatever it is was had few good items but lacked other essentials, so felt kind of half-hearted. Apart from the Crab Rangoon, fries and garlic bread, everything else, I could have done without it. The Mongolian grill was alright but didn’t have enough veggie options but they had three types of thin-cut, fresh meat to go with it. I didn’t try the meat items, maybe, they are better tasting and they do have fish and other sea food items too. The sushi felt somewhat hard and were OK tasting. They do have few veggie options, which is commendable; the one that I tried, broccoli had both fresh and not-so-fresh pieces, so not sure what to make of that. They had string beans and cheese spinach too; the string bean was alright, didn’t try the spinach. The French fries were really good. At 8.49 for Saturday lunch buffet, it was very inexpensive but in the end you’ll feel like, I could have paid few extra bucks and had better Chinese buffet a little further at Uno1. The waitress was attentive and nice but sorry, the food, I wouldn’t say mediocre at best but definitely needs to improve a LOT.

We found a roach on the cup that my girlfriend and 3 year old nephew were drinking water from. We didn’t get an I’m sorry from that waiter and the host didn’t seem to care cause I still had to pay. I’m not asking to give me free stuff but at least be polite and try to keep customers happy.

I live in the area and I figure I try out this place with a few of my friends. They have a great selection of food like any typical chinese buffet. The quality of the food was surprisingly great for the price. I really like their dragon rolls and chow mein. The service was great and very friendly. You are getting what you paid for basically. Overall, I would come back to eat at East Buffet again just during lunch hours though.

Went for lunch because we wanted Chinese, we came out full but not satisfied. The place is not very clean, and the food is not kept hot enough. The choices all taste the same.

I was in Irving during lunchtime and I wanted Chinese food. The two places I used to go to had closed so I found East Buffet. They had several steam tables set up so I thought the selection was going to be really good. I did find several things that I liked. But my primary complaint is that the food was cold. Fried dumplings were cold and the sauce felt like it was refrigerated. Green beans were cold. Chicken with broccoli was warm-ish, but not hot. I thought the Black Pepper Chicken was delicious, but again, not hot. It is dangerous to serve meat at that temperature. Where are the health inspectors? Again, the food did not taste bad. It was just cold.

I had a coupon for a free buffet meal if it was your birthday with a party of 2 or more. I arrive at the restaurant and ask the hostess if I could use the birthday coupon since my birthday was on a Monday and its Saturday night. She looks at the coupon and then checks my drivers license and tells me no. I have to come ON the day of my birthday. I found them to be very unaccommodating since any other restaurant I have worked at that has offered birthday coupons would accept them on the nearest weekend of your birthday. Needless to say East Buffet did not get my business this evening.

I didn’t like the food and won’t go back. This is strange to me as I usually like Chinese food. I ate a little bit of everything except the Mongolian grill. Did not like the egg rolls and usually like egg rolls no matter where I go.

I’ve been coming here for many years as my work is less than 10min away. That was more than a year ago when I used to frequent here as I enjoyed their mongolian bbq. However, I stopped coming due to their lack of quality and taste in food. Given it’s your basic Chinese buffet, my expectation wasn’t very high, but the place just felt old and little run down. Not to mention few other Chinese restaurants nearby offering similar or better food and option. OK, that was more than a year ago. Recently, I went back to order $ 200 worth of take-out for an employee event for work. I first called in and talked to Wayne, the new manager over the phone. I decided to just stop by to meet him to decide on the order and payment. He’s the new manager for the past 3 months. He said he’s slowly turning the business around to make it fresher and better than ever. He was very friendly and even offer to give 10% discounts for the local AA employees(there is also coupon for 10% in the local newspaper called DFW Newsflash(they have the paper as soon as you go in the front door), along with 10% for senior and free lunch for birthday). Back to food. We got about 8 large tray entrees for our take-out of various beef and chicken dishes, along with 1 vege green bean dish. Have to say, they all look very fresh and everything was emptied by the end of our luncheon event. I planned to go back again with some of my colleagues next time for lunch. Until then, I thought I would offer an update on this place as most reviews here were dated 2012. There is really nothing unique other than it seemed brighter and cleaner than what I recall over a year ago. Just keep in mind that it is still a Chinese buffet, so don’t set your expectation too high. But I do believe the new manager(Wayne) has done a good job, or at least in customer service.

I used to love East Buffet but I was there a couple of weeks ago and their little cakes for dessert was moldy on the bottom. The staff apologized and didn’t remove the moldy cake for about 10 minutes. I researched the Irving Restaurant Inspection site and East Buffet has a grade of «C» which is poor. I’ll will not return to East Buffet.

My new roommate told me about this buffet when I came to irving. So I tired it and it is good to me. It is a general Chinese buffet and the food is tasty on average. However, the Sichuan Boiled Fish is excellent and it is the reason I go there at least once a week :)

I am kind of surprised by the reviews because we have been coming here as our Friday lunch out place for a few months now. The place is always busy which means the food does not have time to sit around and get old. Also, a packed restaurant is a good sign to me. It is not the largest buffet around, but the things on it are very tasty. The salad bar has a nice selection and the dessert bar is typical of a Chinese buffet. I have not tried the Mongolian grill, nor have I tried the sushi. I am a little weird about sushi — I want to see it made in front of me fresh. Since they do not do that here, I won’t try it We are always seated immediately and the wait staff is pretty good about keeping drinks filled. They are quick to whisk away used plates. If you are there over lunch on a Friday — wave at us because we will probably be there!

Found a cooked cockroach in the sweet and sour chicken. I dont know if that was part of the recipe? Mgmt offered ½ off on the price. Really?! Rather addressing it? Dont even bother!!! Someone please call a health inspector! Epic Fail!!!

I tried East West Buffet tonight, I was not impressed whatsoever. I actually think Panda BBQ is better, that says alot. Service was decent, tables/chairs/floors were pretty clean but there was something about 90% of the food that just sucked. Its not worth the 8.99 something for the buffet.

Okay, first let me say that I’m not accustomed to eating yellow fried rice. Before rice is fried in Minnesota, it’s white, not yellow. That was my first visit to East Buffet but it didn’t sway me from going back since the vegetables in my shrimp fried rice seemed to be fresh and crisp. Anyway, I placed a 2nd order last weekend: Shrimp WITHMIXEDVEGETABLES and steamed white rice(I didn’t want to deal with that yellow mess again). I was really disappointed when I got my order home and found that I pretty much had a container filled with shrimp(61 to be exact) and 6 pieces of brocoli. WTF! Do these idiots not know what«mixed vegetables» means? Needless to say, I took the order right back to them and asked for my money back. If I wanted shrimp + extra shrimp and brocoli, that’s what I would have ordered!!!
