I should have known when I saw Hispanic chef making my food that I wasn’t getting real Japanese food. Interesting menu… Huge portions but probably won’t return because their food wasn’t really«hibachi and roll.»

It was that time again… for me and my guy friend to meet in the middle… and have dinner. My friend suggested this place because there was a groupon for it. I said sure… might as well. We get there and it was an old A&W turned into a japanese place. It wasnt as cheesy as I thought it was going to be. My friend ordered a sushi roll… and I had the ramen. My friend said the roll was good… and my ramen is ok. I doctored it up a bit and it tasted pretty good. We also ordered the fresh spring rolls… I didnt mind the excessive veggies… but my friend would have preferred more meat in the roll. The one thing I didnt care for was the peanut sauce that came with it. Lets just say it looked like old ketchup that turned brown… I said something way worse… but you get the picture. It wasnt bad for fast food japanese. They even have a drive through that is quite busy. We were the only ones in the dining area. That was fine with us as we talked for 3 hours about everything as always. The lady at the counter was very nice… and we enjoyed ourselves. I cant see myself coming here everyday because of the distance… but when I am in the area… I wouldnt mind popping back in again.

Quiet fast food quality option for Sushi. Went with a Groupon which made it an ever better deal. Probably would have never tried this place if not for Groupon but I would definitely consider going back after going.

The service staff was friendly. I had ordered the chicken hibachi, hibachi soup, and a chicken spring roll. All items came out at once. The chicken spring roll was made fresh and came with a peanut dipping sauce. This was quite tasty! The hibachi chicken was very dry. I get the impression these little chunks of chicken were precooked and thrown back on the grill to reheat. They had no flavor whatsoever. The soy/ginger sauce helped. The fried rice was very dry as well. The hibachi soup was ok. It was a beef broth with some veggies in it. Nothing too complex. Overall not terribly impressed. I visited just around 5:30 as traffic was awful. Would consider coming back at a different time to see if this was just a result of things being slow. As a plus, they had the tv on Syfy and Sharknado was playing… Wow! :)

I am digging this place for a little spur of the moment cuisine. Grab a bento box to go — I ordered the teriyaki chicken one which came with steamed vegetables, a few California sushi rolls, edamame, and your choice of either steamed, brown or fried rice. All for under 10 bucks. It’s fresh, not drowned in any weird sauces or anything, and it’s fast. I’m loving it and there’s lots more to try. I hope they stay around for a while. We need more choices like this in the area that are set apart from typical greasy fast food joints.

U walked in to koi and the first thing I noticed was that it was a john silvers . I sushi was terrible. The service was average. The sushi was bad tasting and had to throw it away. Would not revisit this place.

Friendly staff, great food and clean restaurant overall. They have fountain drinks available, contrary to a previous post. Definitely worth stopping in here, I’ll be coming back again for lunch. The drive through window is convenient as well! Overall, great experience.

I tried this place twice. The food tasted fresh. There are healthy, low sodium options that are super tasty, and there are traditional items that are well prepared for the hibachi and noodle bowl lovers. Jalapeño with crab was so different. Yummy with some heat! I’ll be back!

Rip off. I ordered brown rice with steamed veggies on top so why did this cost me $ 6.44? Side of brown rice =$ 2.00 according to menu I received about half a cup of veggies… broccoli, carrots, and zuchini(one piece of broccoli was black so that went in the garbage), and I didn’t receive any sauce by choice. This should have been $ 4.00 max Can’t stand being overcharged for veggies and rice. Ridiculous. Never going back.

Just OK… somewhere between a 2.5 and 3 star for sure. I do respect that they are targeting a healthy menu as reflected in the food prep, but nothing stood out, and the bento box had a few misses. Teriyaki Chicken was drenched in sauce, overly sweet, nothing special. California roll crab appears to be in a mayo base… kind of yuk… finished 2 pieces and left 2 on the plate. I did like the Edamami… nice touch, and well prepared. Veggies were steamed with no seasoning, oil or butter… a nice touch but probably not to the taste of most customers. Overall, I would eat here more often if closer to my office, and not so much for the great food but more for the healthy preparation. Perhaps they can find a better blend of flavor and health in the future. Interior clean, comfortable, and the staff was friendly and helpful.

A nice and inexpensive place to get some Japanese-styled food. It even has a drive-through if you are in a hurry. Got the Chicken hibachi. The chicken was really good, felt distinctly superb unlike other hibachi places in Irving where it is similar to Chinese style. The fried rice was little harder than I like but nevertheless was good and so were the steamed veggies that you can just dip in the sauce that comes with the food… that is one good sauce, in fact two good sauces! I felt the portion was little less but honestly that is all it fits in that cute tray. The guy was superb nice to come to the table and ask how it was. I was hungry and asked for extra fried rice and came a bowl of fried-rice free of charge… wow! Some place charges 1 – 2 bucks for extra rice. I was told if I want little more rice I could just tell while ordering… Great! It is a new restaurant with cool and calm finish… almost a cross between diner and fast-food; a lot of tables to fill the weekdays working crowds of Irving. It is definitely worth a try… I will be BaK ~!~

Food is fresh, tasty, and well priced. You could just transfer the food onto your dishes at home and it looks and taste like you went to a sit down restaurant as opposed to a fast food place. The restaurant is clean and the owner is on top of everything, service is friendly and efficient.

Was craving teriyaki and feeling head achy, didn’t want to get out of my car, solution! Koi express! This was my first time trying their food, I had my doubts. Located in an old A&W restaurant, only the sign had changed. I decided it was worth a risk not to have to wait in line somewhere else. I ordered a chicken teriyaki bento box with steamed rice. For just under $ 10, it came with steamed fresh vegetables, 4 piece California roll, edamame, and beautifully cooked white meat chicken over very good, dense sticky rice with a light, sweet and tangy teriyaki sauce, lightly dusted with white and black Sesame seeds. This was one of the better bento boxes I’ve had in Dallas. Seems closer to Chinese style chicken and veg. rather than Japanese, but delicious and plentiful nonetheless. Very good portion size, tasty and very fresh. I will definitely return for more. It’s good to know there is an option besides burgers and tacos with drive thru convenience close by. Can’t wait to try the spring rolls and noodles.

I wasn’t too sure what to expect from Koi when I pulled in but by the end of lunch I found my new favorite fast food Asian restaurant. I’d say this place could easily serve as a replacement to panda express based on the fact that they have sushi rolls alone but the tastes and flavors are just as good as any restaurant you would sit down and pay double or triple for. If you’re on the fence about stopping here don’t second guess it any further. …The meat is tender, the vegetables are fresh and the flavors well. …The flavors will make you glad you stopped in.

The food is no where close to being on the same level as those sushi house that I go to… but for me I like this place for that quick meal. I just feel healthier when I get a hibachi bowl or even just a noodle bowl… Much better then hitting up all those fried food express places up and down that road there.

I ordered hibachi tofu and brown rice and it was great. Spring rolls were also great. Both dishes came with yummy sauces. the food tasted really fresh.

For a drive-through hibachi place, it’s really not that bad. Sometimes I’m craving some udon, or hibachi, but don’t want to get out of the car or call in an order for pickup somewhere. This place is conveniently located, in that strip of a million fast food restaurants off of 635 — easy to stop in on my way home! I’ve gotten the shrimp tempura roll before. It wasn’t as good as other sushi places, but for a drive-through, it wasn’t bad. The hibachi is good, although I always ask for a little extra sauce. The udon noodles are fantastic! I get it with chicken and tofu, I get almost everything with chicken and tofu, and it’s always yummy. Basically, it’s probably the healthiest option of all the drive-through places in that long strip of fast food places. Well priced and tasty!

Udon noodles are yummo! I get it with the tofu and it’s pretty damn good for drive thru food. And only $ 5.95. Spicy tuna roll was decent as well. Good enough for me for cheap fast food. Hope it stays open. Nice change from reg fast food places. Been here three times and will continue to go back.

I’m a roll fanatic and I tried plenty of different restaurants that serve roll, but I am disappointed with this places. I ordered a spider roll and for 8 bucks I only got 6 small pieces. The soft shell crab inside was not made fresh and I’m pretty sure it was made this morning and they just microwaved it. I was really craving for some good rolls but now I’m just pissed
