I love this café SO much. I have never been disappointed with anything I have ordered — wraps, omelettes, coffee, speciality iced tea, soups, sides of delicious bacon — you name it. The staff is incredible and eager to make your day a little bit better. Great ambiance. Probably my favorite place in Irvington!

Oh man, talk about terrible wraps. They look great coming out — I got the chipotle wrap, nicely pressed with tons of sauce. But when you bite into it you want to immediately spit the food out. Imagine biting into what must have been last weeks chicken just pulled from the freezer and attempted to be heated under the buttocks of an overweight chef. That’s what this food tasted like — barely unfrozen, poor quality chicken. But nice ambiance!

Nice food, nice café. Burritos and soups are tasty, but the French toast and home fries are to die for. Sandwiches aren’t phenomenal but still very good. The prices are rather high, but considering the area it’s not a bad deal. We usually stop by if we’re in the area.

Went there with high expectations based on review in my local paper. The soup is fresh, tasty and a good value. The rest is an embarrassment to good food. I have no idea where they get their provisions but anything they serve in their sandwiches and wraps are horrible. I believe Boars Head has destroyed deli food. There was a time a deli or restaurant would cook or roast their own beef, chicken, turkey, pork and cook or prepare fresh salad and vegetables. The crap they serve should be only purchased according to price and convenience not because you enjoy food. Nasty

Came across this place while in Irvington running an errand. Great find! Super coffee au lait though could be served hotter. Lovely staff. Bohemian coffee house atmosphere with books on shelves and local art displayed on walls, black board menu of creative breakfasts and sandwiches, wraps and soups and juices, tea, coffee. Veggie breakfast burrito is particularly good with eggs, mushrooms, spinach, tomato, cheddar, home fries — we added bacon.

We ordered a lime chicken sandwich on a 7-grain roll and spicy breakfast burrito. The breakfast burrito was rather small, but the sandwich was a decent size. Taste wise, the roll was a bit dry but the roll was toasted just right — crunchy and nutty. The breakfast burrito was also good with«real» eggs. The mint chocolate was awesome. The décor was comfortable and had a small town feel to it. Cash only.

Excellent little café with a great coffee menu, and extensive list of teas(both hot or iced), and plenty of options for both breakfast and lunch/dinner. It’s close to the train station, which makes a perfect stop on the way into the city.

«Yay! I’m a fan.» Fits. It was not perfect. It was good and the morning we went was lovely. Rose colored glasses maybe, a stretch to give it four stars, sure. But it was a nice morning and the breakfast burrito was great the 2nd time around, after we sent it back to make sure our bacon was fully cooked. They seems a bit over whelmed and I noticed a few other tables did not get exactly what they ordered. I will go back. I liked the whole vibe.

Damn-what a funky spot. I’ve been in the area doing some errands every so often, and drive by here quite often, but seem to be always in a rush and never had the chance to. But today, I wanted to just chill and chitchat with my friends up in here. Black Cat Café is that type of café that takes you away up in the mountains. It’s super quaint, charming, antique-looking, eccentric and above all, totally unique. The mood is soooo freaking comfortable, that for quick second I imagined myself with fleece pjs and my super warm Ugg slippers up in here. With all that said, you can actually lounge, nosh and have a cool time. The owner Surya(apologies for misspelling your name) is very sweet with a pleasant demeanor. Her Café has wonderful art work from local artists, great teas on sale(and coffee) and other items on sale as well. I’m gradually weaning myself from buying my teas at major coffee franchises. Gone are the times of coffee franchises offering me a cold, sterile and cookie-cutter interior design which don’t appeal to me at this time. And supporting small businesses such as Black Cat Café is essential for me.

Awesome space on the lower east side. There are always comfy couches or chairs open for you to chill out and they never ask you to leave or give you glaring looks because you finished your coffee 6 hours ago and you’re still lounging or working on your computer. The baked goods are also really tasty. I usually come here on weekend afternoons to hang with friends and it’s always a very relaxing experience!

Fabulous. That is all. Love the atmosphere, it’s funky and inviting. Art, old books, rustic decorations. The pastries and cookies are delectable. Get there early if you want one of their famous almond croissants, though! There’s a huge breakfast and lunch menu as well, with lots of fresh café options like smoothies and panini. The staff are wonderful, the merchandise is wonderful, the location is wonderful.

We came here a lot. It was a quiet place to work. The service was good, coffee/tea were decent. However, the service has gone down hill. The wifi constantly is not working. We have to find another good place to work now.

The most wonderful coffee shop on the Hudson River. Not only is the coffee and tea excellent(along with all the variety of preparations), but the food(breakfast and lunch) is healthy and well prepared. I go here almost everyday I am in Westchester County. The owner and staff are friendly and very competent! You’ll love it!

The Black Cat is in the perfect location for a commuter. I pull right up to one of its parking spots on Main Street, right in front of it, and grab a coffee. The coffee is delicious. I love it. Plus, they always have an awesome coffee sleeve. I have a few saved and they sit on my desk at work. One says«smiling is contagious.» How do you throw that away? As I write this review I’m drinking a mocha latte and eating a yogurt parfait with berries, granola, raisins and nuts. Needless to say, I’m having a swell morning. Warning: Cash only!

Best café in the area. Good food. They use the same Chai as Coffee labs and it’s never too crowded. Food comes fast. They also serve fresh juices. Right by the Aqueduct Trail.

I really liked this place. I had a French vanilla latte that was really delicious — way better than any Starbucks coffee I’ve had. The place had an old, quaint feel, which I expect in a sweet, historic community town like Irvington. What made this place great is the friendliness of the barista, who I found out upon further conversation, was the weekend manager. Late on a Saturday night, we were the only two people in the place, so she spent some time talking to me so I didn’t feel so isolated. I will definitely be back to say hello and meet some of the other town folk. Additionally, I didn’t get to try them yet, but this place has freshly squeezed juices and smoothies. I can’t wait to go back and give it a go!

Nice place! I had about an hour to kill in Irvington before a business meeting and had a serious desire to go to an independent coffee place. Surprisingly easy street parking available at 4:30pm on a Thursday. Very cute interior, local art hanging on walls, and the menus are handwritten on chalkboards. Cool hipster girl behind the counter was totally unpretentious and didn’t roll her eyes when I asked what latte flavors were available. Woohoo! Unfortunately their kitchen closes earlier in the day so I wasn’t able to try one of their paninis/sandwiches(they looked amazing) but my coffee was great. Expensive though, a 16oz(large) latte runs 4.50. But it comes in a cool Black Cat Café mug with a cool slogan… «Leave Your Superstitions at the Door.» I like that. Free wifi that is tremendously fast, and free cups of water. They’re cash only so make sure you’re aware of that. I’ll try to return someday!

I’ve found my go-to Sunday morning café. Finally. After two months of searching. They have extensive breakfast, lunch, and hot chocolate(!!) menus, as well as a nice assortment of caffeinated and non-caffeinated drinks. The food is pretty pricey and not particularly memorable, but really, the location and atmosphere of the Café pay for itself. The café — even when full — isn’t particularly loud, which is conducive to hardcore studying(or Unilocaling). There aren’t many outlets though — I think the only two I’ve found are by the tables closest to the doors. and these tend to be snagged pretty quickly. The few times I’ve been here, I’ve been able to find street parking directly in front of the café. The signs say that you only get an hour of parking, but I’ve parked in front of the café for 3 – 4 hours at a time and it hasn’t been a problem yet. Tip: They are cash only, so remember to stop by the ATM on the way in!

A place that has about a dozen different varieties of hot cocoa earns four stars simply based on that fact. Apart from the hot cocoa list, this is a very quaint and cozy place nestled into Main Street of Irvington, a short walk up the hill from the village’s MetroNorth station. They provided an assortment of sandwiches, soups, salads, teas, coffees, and pastries as well. Seating was enough for perhaps 16 or so patrons, if I may guesstimate*. Unfortunately, when you come in with a party of three and single people are hogging tables meant for multiple patrons with their laptops, you do have to impatiently yet politely wait a bit for those people to «get a clue» and move to a table that wouldn’t inhibit three people from sharing a common eating space.(Side note: FREEWI-FI! Oh, happy days!) I ordered their Grilled Fontina Cheese Sandwich with roasted red peppers and avocados on ciabatta bread. Beyond fabulous! One friend ordered a veggie burger that was to her liking. My other friend ordered a Caprese sandwich that was decent enough for her; she complained about the lack of promised pesto and never did finish the sandwich. You get your choice, with some sandwiches, of potato chips or pretzels. I’ve NEVER been offered pretzels as a side option, but it’s an option I certainly like!(I ordered the chips, however, because I needed some salt and grease in my life. Of course.) When it finally came time for my hot cocoa, I opted for a small Nutella Hot Cocoa. Real Nutella is used! I saw the waitress scoop a spoonful straight from the jar and blend it with my cocoa. The result was delicious! Not overwhelmingly loaded with hazelnut flavor; quite complimentary, in fact. I’m sitting here typing and fantasizing about it… no shame… as Nutella pretty much equates to ambrosia in some culinary circles. Their menu boasted some tasty looking breakfast options! My friends and I will definitely be coming back to try them, along with the other varieties of cocoa. I’ve got a dozen more to try! * — I hate that term. Alas, I couldn’t think of anything else to say. Have mercy.
