Okay, a Chinese restaurant in Isleton? Food was well prepared, stove hot and tasty. Portions guaranteed to fill you up so you won’t go hungry. Pan fried noodles«perfect» Recommend highly.

Overall, I think that this place really deserves 3 ½ stars, which I can’t give. It’s a neat little old-style Chinese-American place in atmospheric Isleton, one of the little, old originally largely Chinese towns nestled along the levees in the delta. The food is overall very good American Chinese. The Almond Chinese Chicken Salad was very enjoyable, if a bit simple and lacking subtelty, the lettuce roughly chopped. I read one review complaining that the tofu version was bland, which I could see with the light vinegary dressing, iceberg lettuce, etc. However, the version we had was great with the fried chicken pieces really making it. The chicken was very nicely fried, hit, crispy, and tender, and married nicely with the vinegar, crunchy lettuce, and toasted almonds. The orange chicken was a but intense and slightly on the slaty side, but very flavourful and again the chicken was nicely fried with a good texture. The Szechuan beef also was a bit salty but very tasty and nicely cooked. The sizzling rice soup was great, with a very nice richly flavourful broth. Wonton soup was also great. The honey walnut prawns were good, but a weak point as they were not very crispy. The service was good and friendly. The place and dishes could have been a touch cleaner but it was fine. For lunch in Iselton, I would recommend this place and would go here again when in town.

Best chinnese food I’ve ever had. The service is impeccable, amazing decorative theme and accurately priced dining. Those who complained about the tofu. commit to your unsatisfactory choices; You cant ask to replace meat with tofu and expect it to be good. I love this place. I go here at least once a month and it has never disappointed me. The general shrimp are my favorite.

I don’t give a rat’s ass about zombies but if you want some of the best Chineese food in the USA(I travel a lot) this is the place. It is fresh and very good. The prices are reasonable and service is good… There’s a reason it has ben in business for 75 yrs and its not the Zombie idiiots.

My grandparents live in Rio Vista(a short drive from Isleton) and they really like the Pineapple Restaurant. I’m not a huge fan of Chinese-American restaurant dining but I enjoy photographing the buildings and streets in Isleton and I find the zombie-apocalypse atmosphere intriguing. I’ve dined at the Pineapple twice. The first time I ordered a tofu and vegetable dish that obviously wasn’t very memorable since I can’t recall how it was cooked or what kinds of vegetables it came with. I remember being bored with the food so I ordered a large sake and I’m fairly certain it was heated to such a degree that the alcohol evaporated(it burned my mouth and I didn’t feel buzzed in the slightest). The second time I ordered a chinese chicken salad with tofu instead of chicken. Worst mistake I could have made. I’m not sure how that salad is with chicken, but I wouldn’t anticipate a significant improvement considering the tasteless lettuce and mediocre dressing. I expected the tofu to be cooked. Pan-fried or sauteed, or even deep fried; I don’t care, as long as it’s relatively authentic-tasting or worth leaving the house for. If I want iceberg lettuce with raw tofu, topped with little else: I will buy it at the store. If not for the hot chili garlic sauce and bites of the cashew-vegetable dish my mom ordered, I would’ve gone home hungry. If they incorporated outdoor seating, they could use Isleton’s quirky charm to their advantage. Instead the restaurant feels like a hole-in-the-wall or a dive, both of which can be a great time – just not in this case.

Worst tofu I’ve ever had, and I’ve had stinky tofu. The waiter was nice but food took way too long and since we were getting it to go we needed utensils which he forgot. Then I open it up in the car and it’s less garlic tofu and more clumpy squishy bready chunks with soft tofu inside in a ton of sweet sauce. With no rice. My husbands Asian salad was a lot of tasteless lettuce and dry chicken. Yikes.

Very small portions. Food is Good but price is expensive. This is one of those restaurants that charge u for every extra thing. I was even charged for hot tea that comes free with most Chinese restaurants. The owner is friendy.

No box required… not good enough to take home. Service was ok to good. but food was greasy. We will not go back. My tip would be to keep on driving.

We keep a boat near here. It is a treat for us to get the takeout and bring back to the marina. It has become one of our favorite Chinese restaurants, so much so, we keep a menu on the boat for ordering. Their food is fresh and well prepared and all at a very reasonable price. The menu has a wide selection for every taste. This is truly a family operation with everyone friendly and helpful. Isleton is a true Delta town, so don’t expect much ambiance. But I notice that they are always busy, which says something. If you are in the area and have a craving for Chinese, try this place. I am sure you will be happy.

Having eaten there a year ago when we were staying locally to fish for salmon, my buddy and I headed back this year expecting the food to be good. After waiting longer than it should have taken, my chow mien and deep fried chicken arrived. The chicken was like a brick. It was dry and hard. I ate most anyway since I was famished after a day on the river. The chow mien was plentiful, but not tasty, even by my redneck standards. For the first time in my life, I left some Chinese food behind. Next year we’ll forget Chinese food in the Isleton area.

isleton, you are so interesting. we were on our way back to san francisco and found this little town. this town reminded me of that town woodbury in walking dead. most buildings are closed up although they are decent looking. and there’s nobody on the street. zombie apocalypse. i told my friend if we heard any moaning noise we would run back to the car and leave as fast as we could. but no zombie. phew… good. and we saw this chinese restaurant. it looks… historical and very chinese. we were not very hungry but we just HAD to eat here. the owner seemed to know everyone in the restaurant, so they greeted us like we were strangers who just came to town, which we were. the food was nice. but nothing outstanding. nicely cooked. nothing offensive. it was cheap. we paid up and left. i was still pretty wary that a zombie might pop out from somewhere. three seasons of walking dead would do that to you…

Read Robyn J’s awesome history and explanation of Isleton because you will never intentionally drive to this place, but in a zombie apocalypse when you’ve been running pell mell for days, look up and find yourself in Isleton — I know the best place to eat. It is the Pineapple Restaurant.(Read Robyn J’s quizzical references to the name Pineapple…) I had shrimp and veggies and it was great. Better than I’ve had in more populated areas. My dude thought it would be awful because in Isleton, the handful of restaurants have a captive audience — so to speak. My story about winding up in Isleton: I took a windsurfking class on Sherman Island and googled and Unilocaled around looking for an interesting place to stay. We settled on Rogelio’s a few doors down from the Pineapple. If you’re in to photography or history, you might consider a weekend in Isleton a diversion… ok, forget that. Don’t go. But, that zombie thing. The Pineapple.

This is a wonderful Chinese restaurant with great food, at reasonable prices. Yee is a hands on owner who enjoys inter reacting with customers. She is effusive, and a lot of fun. The food is excellent, and quick to the table. Real good choice for dinner in Isleton, if you don’t want prime rib at Peter’s.

We went to Pineapple Restaurant with family who live in the area. We were so impressed with the food and service! We had a family style meal(Menu A I think) and it seemed the food just kept coming and it was ALL amazing! We will make this restaurant a «must visit» every time we get out to the delta area! Go… you won’t be disappointed.

Just a tidbit of information here with the emphasis on «population». Isleton is a city in Sacramento County, California, United States. The population was 804 at the 2010 census, down from 828 at the 2000 census. It is located on Andrus Island amid the slough wetlands of the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta, on the eastern edge of the Rio Vista Gas Field. Name of Restaurant: Pineapple(huh?) I was at a friend’s house carrying on about the worst Chinese food I have ever had at Wongs in Antioch(see my review for more information). My friend suggested that we go downtown and have some Chinese food at Pineapple. Pineapple??? Would I drive to Pineapple again? No, too far away but will go there again when visiting my friend. Downtown Isleton is sort of a ghost town; the buildings are a historical part of California’s Chinese influence. Unfortunately Isleton has felt the economic downturn and not many businesses have survived. Pineapple is easy to get to, street parking is available. The front of the building is quirky and reminds me of an artsy/fartsy Berkeley kinda place. Inside is an eclectic mess that is entertaining and quite appealing. It’s like an ocular candyland with all sorts of knick knak’s and colorful items. The dishes/glasses and silver ware was clean. Funny when the server brought out water glasses I gasped in recognition… I had the same glasses as a kid in the late 70’s. The menu is filled with all the usual Chinese dishes: Beef and Broccoli, Fried Rice… I don’t really eat Beef but I tried their Beef and Broccoli and I don’t think I have ever tasted such deeply flavored oyster sauce concoction. The meat was so tender it was like butter. I also had the Pork Fried rice which is usually a dry dish in my travels. The meat was very most and the rice was perfectly cooked. My friend ordered the Honey Walnut Prawns and carried on about their deliciousness factor. I let her have her prawns; I am allergic to both Walnuts and Prawns. My friend has lived in Isleton for an eternity. When the server came out my friend mentioned to me that the first time she ate at Pineapple the server(daughter of the owner) was just a baby. Here she is an adult and the family business is alive. The server was very friendly and knew my friends name(well in Isleton most people know each other). It was nice to experience a down home friendliness. The prices were not much different than most Chinese food menu items. My 2 cents: Very simply put; when in Isleton, go where the locals go. Friendly, affordable, delicious and homey.

My wife and I went there in August after a good review from the T.V. show«Eye on the Bay.» Met the owner. She was a character. Not professional. The place is OLD. The prawns were as if they bought them pre-breaded from the frozen food section. More rice and noodles than the main coarse. Service sucked. And it was not crowded. It was a waste of time and money. I wonder what it looks like in the kitchen. I can only grossly imagine. The place should be shut down. Good Luck if you go their.

4 stars for good food. Very old chinatown garage sale atmosphere. Take out superb. Have dined in 3 times. Really nice wait people but the SLOWEST service ever each time. Crab cream cheese appetizers awesome. Sweet sour dishes great. My favorite Chinese fare fried rice is really not so good… almost anywhere else is better.
