Best cold brew I have ever had. I think it’s an iced French press, which gives the coffee more flavor than the iced coffee at other places. Highly recommend!

Delicious coffee, great atmosphere, a tattoo shop in the back, and really sweet, welcoming baristas. I wanted to know the different syrups they had and the barista was more than happy to talk through their options. I got their small vanilla latte. The latte art was pretty good, definitely better than Ithaca coffee house. The shop is now my favorite coffee place in all of Ithaca.

This hipster coffee shop is one of the best in Ithaca! The barista is super friendly and there is a nice atmosphere/vibe of college students doing work or chatting with friends. The ginger vanilla latte is awesome! Also they have a juicer so you can order healthy fruit/veggie juices :)

Great, relaxed atmosphere, a barista who clearly knows what she’s doing and one of the best cups of coffee ever! No exaggeration — really amazing coffee! Yum!

I’m over 50 and hopelessly unhip, so getting coffee in Ithaca can be tricky – and I admit that the tattoo parlor in the back had me thoroughly intimidated. But once I went, I became a convert! None of the judgment of Gimme! or the weak, insipid coffee served at CTB – just a friendly, knowledgeable barista who made a really, really good cup of coffee at a reasonable price. The Shop is now my first choice for coffee downtown.

Mm! The customer service is wonderful and so is their fresh juice! I felt very comfortable the first time I walked into this shop. I love how they ask local artists to post their artwork around the café and the plants that fill the store makes you feel more welcomed. The staff is great and the people who walk in and out of the shop are pretty attractive too.(Haha) Highly recommend this place if you want to catch up with a friend or just enjoy their food/drink/coffee selection.

The staff is really friendly and the friendliness extends to the customers. No one takes themselves too seriously. It’s quiet but at times the conversations can get loud. Lots of tables should you need to bring work with you. But make sure you are fully powered. Outlets are few and via an extension cord.

Best coffee, tea and Danishes in all of ithaca!!! The blueberry cheese Danish is absolutely amazing in the morning with a cup of coffee! Not to mention it has the best service of any coffee shop in town, I always feel like my service is their priority regardless of how busy it may be. The staff is always very friendly and professional. The scene is great, the vibe is good and they always play awesome music! Oh and don’t forget it has one of ithacas best tattoo shops built right into the back! Keep up the awesome work!

They serve french pressed Gimme coffee and it tastes much better than the drip from the Gimme store. There’s no off flavors from dirty equipment, and less grounds in the bottom of the cup. They also do pour over coffee from other roasters, but I haven’t tried any yet. Probably the best black coffee I’ve had in Ithaca.

I have been in Ithaca for 5 years but yesterday was my first time in The Shop. The place is very quite and quite suitable for studying. I had a cup of jasmine tea and the quality was amazing at a reasonable price. The only drawback is that the place is a bit dim.

Best coffee in Ithaca, the baristas are all super sweet, and the place itself has ample space and is nicely kept. For people who have lived in Chicago, LA, or NYC, it will remind you of a cross between a homey neighborhood coffee shop and an Intelligentsia. The atmosphere is definitely on the young, hip side – especially given the tattoo parlor rather incongruously located in the back of the shop – but you don’t get the sense of being out of place if you come in with kids, or if you don’t own horn-rimmed glasses and a macbook air(looking at you, Gimme Coffee).

As a coffee BAR to just grab a to-go cup from, The Shop is pretty good; the coffee is Gimme’s blend — although, for whatever reason, it never quite tastes the same as brew from Gimme’s own cafes to me. Major props for being one of the only cafes in town to have free water out to refresh one’s palate, as all proper coffee bars do and should. The baristas tend to be friendly, and the place has taken the nice step of moving their menu over the bar rather than being located where you couldn’t see it while ordering or waiting to do so. I’ve never felt 100% comfortable hanging out here or working for too long, though; some more welcoming furniture(a couple more couches, perhaps?) might make it live up to the cool-yet-homely feel I think it’s going for, and something about it can also feel a little unclean. Maybe the tattoo place in the back has something to do with that latter complaint. I guess if you want your coffee shop to feel«alternative» above all else, The Shop is for you; it’s definitely many notches up the hipster scale from CTB, next door. But my biggest complaint is that the food could use refreshing more often. I’ve seen the pastries on display wrapped up from previous days but still on the shelves, for sale, with no indication that they’ve been sitting out there, and others that didn’t betray any hint of being old when I looked at them have tasted stale.

my new favorite coffee shop. Serving up, of course, Ithaca’s own Gimme! coffee as well as Counter Culture. They do a great job with their coffee, espresso drinks as well as pour overs, good music(usually a good indie mix), and not quite as crowded as Gimme. There’s a tattoo place in the back, which creeped me out a bit at first, but now kind of tempts me every time i’m there to get a tattoo of their cute little french press logo.

I don’t know about the rest of you but I don’t consider having a tattoo parlor inside a coffee shop as an ideal atmosphere. In my opinion, coffee isn’t noticeably better than CTB down the street, and costs more for a smaller cup than there. It is relatively spacious per table here though so if the tattoo parlor doesn’t bother you, it may be a nice place to get work done.

It’s a nicely decorated coffee shop. I come with a friend for a short study break. The atmosphere’s peaceful and easy. The weather is gorgeous, it’s very nice sitting outside. The iced coffee I ordered is great and the macaroon and cookies are both very tasty. =D

As a newcomer to Ithaca, it seems like Gimme! gets a lot of love here. I get it. Slick packaging, good coffee. The advantages of a Starbucks without the burnt coffee. The Shop isn’t like that. It doesn’t have the slickness that comes from chain marketing. What it does have, though, is really stellar coffee, a great atmosphere, and a tattoo parlor in the back. A whatnow? It certainly sets a certain tone to have the buzz of a tattoo needle sounding out from the back room as you try to get some reading done over a cup of coffee, but I dig it. I like the plants and the shabby chic(can we still say that?) atmosphere. I like that when I’m too hopped on caffeine to have another cup, they have a good tea selection and(what I hear are) excellent juices. The baked goods leave something to be desired, but so be it. My judgment of a coffee shop does not live and die on their munchies. The bottom line is that The Shop is fun, and a great place to get some work done over a nice pour-over.

This is the best coffee shop in Ithaca. Now how can I say this given that I don’t even drink coffee? Well, because every time I take a «first date» here, I end up getting either lucky or stalked for several weeks. I hypothesize that the shop gives my dates the false impression that I am cool. I’m not sure what it is about the Shop that gives them this idea; perhaps its the great coffee, neat artwork, plentiful viewings of hipsters or maybe its the awesome looking tattoo parlor in the back. Unfortunately, visiting the shop is the closest I’ll ever get to a needle, or being the cool kid for that matter. So back to those dates; they usually dump me when they realize its all a ruse. Frankly they should have noticed this when I ordered the ice tea. And by the way The Shop’s iced tea is absolutely fantastic!

It’s got the best atmosphere for any coffee shop in Ithaca. A lot of tropical plants here. Quite a sunny local coffee shop. The coffee quality is great– hand tampered espresso shots. The customers are chill– as are the employees. I think you can also get a Tattoo here while drinking coffee. Cool! Dinosaur cookies!!! What is it with Ithaca and dinosaurs? I feel like this is a good hood for them. Perhaps they like to munch on the tropical plants when nobody else is around. They also have the dinosaurs at Level B you know?
