Whenever I’m in Ithaca, I always make it a point to stop by this place. The dessert waffles are so, so good and almost make me want to relive my 4 years on the Cornell campus… almost. Very reasonable prices for the sweet stuff but I can’t speak for any of their savory options. I never could wrap my head around chicken on a waffle.

cornmeal waffle with chicken chili. Cute little place in Ithaca NY. Breakfast and brunch. No table service, but it’s a very short walk to pick up your order. The meal was wonderful. A real crunch on the cornmeal, very good chili. My friend had the same waffle, with bacon and egg. We had coffee with our brunch. I would recommend this place for a quick bite. Great place to take the kids. Washrooms were very clean.

Love their waffles here — when I came back for Slope Day, I had breakfast here for 3 days and I was here for 4 days. I recommend trying the buckwheat waffles, it really adds a lot of flavor to the waffle regardless of what you put on it. The savory waffles are actually pretty good, if you get eggs, they come in runny and pairs really well with the waffles. The sweet waffles are amazing too — I usually get something with green tea ice cream. I really appreciate their customization — for example, I changed the ice cream in the Lemon Drop from vanilla to green tea for no extra cost. Changing buttermilk to one of the other options only cost an extra quarter.

Great place! They are very busy and may forget a few details of the order but they will fix it quickly. They are very friendly and helpful. Most of all the waffles are great!

This was an amazing experience! I just relocated to Ithaca from Syracuse where there’s another version of a Waffle House. This place was beyond better. I can’t eat dairy so I went with the vegan waffle. To my surprise it was rich, soft and so tender unlike other stale and mealy vegan waffles I’ve had. The options were endless and I can’t wait to go back to try the burger waffle!

Very busy when I went(Saturday morning) but delicious waffles. Be warned: while a twin size looks good, I found that I really only needed half of the portion I was served. If you get sugary toppings this is exacerbated. So, if you’re a woman with a decent-sized appetite get a single or split a twin with a friend. I had the Mr. Popular waffle which was very delicious, although next time I might try a less-sweet waffle. There was almost too much sugar. Overall: if you can bear the crowds, definitely come check it out.

Go for the waffles, skip the Purity ice cream. I came here for a scoop of Purity ice cream and coffee. The coffee and latte was delicious. However, being a fan of Purity ice cream, I think the flavors they had experienced a bit of freezer burn and the scoop I tried was not great. My friend did not enjoy her ice cream either. Either way, the environment is hipster-ish and cute(there is an adjacent room and second floor), the place is so much bigger than it looks like on the outside. However, in the future… I’ll make sure to go to the original Purity location if I want ice cream(because it IS good) and stick to Waffle Frolic for the waffles and coffee.

Best place for breakfast or brunch in Ithaca. Get the fried chicken and waffles.(Or even just the side of fried chicken — honestly, that’s the main reason I come here these days. The spicy maple sauce is amazing!) The only downsides are that it’s a bit expensive for a casual waffle place, and wait times can be long, especially when it’s crowded.

Ok, now I get it. Chicken n Waffles. Mana from heaven. Three pieces of fresh fried chicken on a really good waffle. Savory sweet that can’t be beat. Very good coffee on top of that.

Pricey breakfast. Over $ 40 to feed two adults and two kids. Also took about 20 minutes, which is a little long for a fast casual joint. When it came, neither of the kids’ waffles had whipped cream(which we paid for), and my wife’s had Nutella(which we requested be removed). Food was fine for the most part — we had the Mr. Popular(tasty) and the Fried Chicken and Waffles(meh). All said, expected better service from a place that charges this much.

In Ithaca quite a bit but this is my first time eating at Waffle Frolic. I ordered the chicken and waffles along with an iced caramel latte. Being from the south I am particular about fried chicken and I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised. The chicken(3 pieces) was cooked perfectly! Crispy and well seasoned outside with a very juicy inside. The waffle was good but not as great as I excepted in comparison to the chicken. I was a little disappointed that the syrup was not real maple syrup but a prepackaged store brand. Although the maple hot sauce was good in small moderation. The caramel iced latte was very good and would definitely have again. The $ 17 price tag was a little much in my opinion but is ok for a once in a while treat. If you are in the area it is well worth a visit lots of options so anyone should find something they will like.

Three words. So. Many. Choices. I stopped by here with my Vegan friendly. Now I understand many places in Ithaca are vegan or vegetarian friendly and when you think of a waffle joint, beef or chicken(yuck) don’t come to mind, eggs maybe, but not beef or chicken. However, what sets Waffle Frolic aside from many other Ithaca eateries(who are more so Vegan accommodating) is that Waffle Frolic labels everything that is Vegan or Vegetarian. On top of that, they have a vegan ice cream. I mean come on. My vegan friend’s eye lit up when we walked in. Never mind the forever existing line for a Sunday morning. The shop has a simple and straightforward menu. You walk in and you follow the easy steps: pick a waffle(gf/vegan options available), pick a size(single or twin) and then pick your toppings. Indecisive? No prob. They have tons of pre-«arranged» waffle meals including chicken with waffle(next on my list to try), waffle with two eggs and bacon(yum), grilled cheese, turkey chili with a cornbread waffle, and they always have some specials. The day I went, they had a hangover waffle(with everything but the kitchen sink) and a florentine waffle. We went during brunch hour so the line was long but it is so worth it. Once you order, head upstairs to grab a seat. It is definitely first come first serve and if you get there at the wrong time, you might just need to grab a seat outside on one of the benches in the Commons. I settled on a single eggs and bacon(it’s brunch after all) and then a single buttermilk waffle with Nutella and fruit of the day(strawberry). My friend got the twin with vegan ice cream. We were stuffed. I also want to mention they have drinks available. We each went for heir chai latte. They even have drink substitutes for their drinks. The only thing hey did not have that I feel could have been made was vegan whipped cream, but no biggie at all. I would say the waffle was very light, fluffy on the inside, crispy to the bite. My savory waffle worked really nicely – I was concerned they wouldn’t time the temperature of all the components right, but it was perfect. The eggs were cooked over easy and my bacon crispy but not burt. As a waffle iron owner, I was definitely impressed with the flavor packed meal. My classic Nutella and strawberry waffle also did not disappoint. My vegan friend and I spent much of the first 15 minutes eating. Our lattes were delicious. Finally, I would say they have a loud speaker installed so they can call your name and you can come down to pick up the food by the front counter on the first floor. When we went, the loud speaker was broken so they just shouted your name and you could hear just fine. The place does get packed – I hope they can expand into a bigger store front soon with some waiting service. It definitely has the potential. A great stop for sure!

Great waffles place! I love that we have the option of customizing the type of waffle we want. I got Mr. Popular and it was awesome. Great place to go to for dessert, breakfast or for a snack!

This is my niece’s new favorite place. You can’t beat a waffle that was just made a la minute for you. Waffles are sizable– even the single. I got my buckwheat waffle with apple butter and it was delicious. Everyone in the party was pleased and left full. There was a steady stream of folks the whole time we were there. The wait was longer than we thought it would be. Plenty of seating upstairs and down. Atmosphere is casual. My teenage son decided it would be a good place to bring his friends.

We went to get some waffles as we were walking down the commons to shop. It was early afternoon, and there were a few people waiting but no one in line. We ordered, and waited around 15 minutes for our waffles to come up. We had an option to sit upstairs or next to the kitchen, and we sat in the latter, next to a window. I ate the usual, a waffle with Nutella, strawberry and whipped cream. It was very tasty, but somehow when I ordered it I imagined a waffle smothered in Nutella when it was only a drizzle. Probably healthier the way it was made at waffle frolic. My friend ate a waffle with peanut butter and fried bananas. It smelled and tasted sweet and solid.

Quick, solid breakfast. A good option that will keep you full before you head out on a 4 hour hike… If you’re into that kinda thing. The waffle was super light and you must dip it in their maple syrup. The egg and bacon offer a savory complement to the dish. The small was more than filling for me. They even gave me the over flow batter so I got more like 1.5 waffles. Coffee was decent, they’ll serve it in a mug too if you eat in. Gluten free waffles too! The man friend was satisfied. Line was short when we arrived close to 10am. By the time we left it was starting to get busier as the college kids started rolling in. It’s an order at the counter kinda place. Be sure to check the specials menu for some extra hearty, extra tasty looking meals. I was intrigued by the grilled cheese options too! Seating area upstairs was spacious. Good for larger groups. Many people pushed tables together up there. They have a bunch of games and books if you feel like hanging for a while.

Believe the hype. I only came to this establishment based off other Unilocal reviews and luckily they were all correct in giving this place a high rating. For a fair price you get a very large waffle; even their half size is quite large and will leave you full. I got the almond joy waffle and it was perfect. There was enough of each ingredient to make it tasty and decadent without being overly sweet or gooey. It consisted of chocolate sauce, almond butter sauce and shredded coconut. Maybe it could have used a bit more coconut, but there was enough to get the point across. Their almond butter sauce was absolutely delicious, runny and easy to spread. The same can be said about their peanut butter sauce, which my boyfriend had on his waffle, and couldn’t stop raving about. Also their coffee is delicious with a smooth taste and no graininess. Don’t be afraid to go for dinner instead of lunch — that’s what we did and we don’t regret it! They have waffles for any meal here, so check them out.

Frolic in waffles I did, at least my mouth did… I had my first chicken & waffle here, and I’m glad that this place took my first :’). Here’s how my first time went: — The syrup and the hot sauce that came with the dish were a harmonious duo that kept me asking for more. — The waffle was cooked perfectly as well as the chicken was fried. It was perfect. — I had to share, so we got three plates.(Sharing is good though) Mmm.

I’ve been waiting to try Waffle Frolic for almost two years and wish I’d gone sooner. Large waffles in two sizes(single and twin… Don’t worry, there are actual size pictures near the menu to help make your choice). made fresh to order with choice of batter and toppings are all a recipe for delicious success. The establishment is split between two levels. The ground floor is the kitchen and ordering space, and upstairs is entirely filled with seating. Small silver tables with matching chairs allow for small groups to gather or for larger ones to pull together and perhaps play one of the board games available. It’s a bit well used looking, feeling like a combination of mini school cafeteria and a friend’s house’s basement hangout. Waffles. Great for breakfast, brunch, lunch or snack. I had a single hearty hemp and buckwheat waffle with peanut butter and honey. Delicious! The waffle was lightly crispy outside with a warm fluffy inside. The peanut butter was drizzled across generously without completely drowning the waffle, and there was a good pour of honey to taste without sending me into a diabetic coma. My boyfriend had a twin buttermilk with chocolate sauce and strawberries. I’m thoroughly impressed at how they heaped whole fresh strawberries onto the order. I must say I spied a waffle across the room topped with huge scoops of ice cream(which I believe is all vegan soy) which left me envious. Next time. I’m also interested in a savory combination… Turkey chili and waffle sound like a match made in heaven. Orders are taken along with your name which is broadcast over speakers upstairs and downstairs when ready. You can stand in the sunny downstairs area sipping coffee while you wait(don’t worry, they have lattes and cappuccinos in addition to regular drip) or hang out upstairs. There’s a case of other typical Ithaca hippy drinks I’ve come to expect: unfiltered organic apple juice, mate iced tea, kombucha, etc. I will waffle and I will frolic. Preferably together and as often as possible when in Ithaca.

Great place of sweet or savory waffles. Their waffles are big and full of fully deliciousness. My favorite is their caramel apple waffle. Its the perfect balance of sweet and salty. You can also add a scoop of ice cream on top. They also have one of the best spiced apple ciders during the fall.
