Frustrated. Bought something a month ago and they have not been open. Ahhhh.

Beautiful, unique options, and incredible prices. I found the prices to be ridiculously low, and the owner expects to discount. I picked up an item, and the owner immediately tossed a lower price toward me. Then, when I was going through my wallet, I was quite a few dollars short on cash, and he quickly hopped in and said, «That’s plenty.» I even offered to pay the full amount, and he again refused me. Great service, great selection, and great value. That’s the key word, «value.» These aren’t cheap pieces, and these aren’t simply old pieces labeled antiques. The pieces have character. It’s hard to go through that shop and not want to remodel your entire house. And for such amazing pieces, the list price is often less than what you would see at goodwill or Ikea. I consider this store my first stop when I’m looking for furniture in Boston. Unfortunately, I always buy more than what I need.

if you are a sexy raccoon like me, you are better off going through the trash yesteryear has items from the past with prices from the future inflation! sorry people. I don’t recommend even browsing in here if you are a casual shopper on a budget! Sure there is indeed beautiful, well-crafted furniture. The few practical things here you(me) cannot afford. You are better off checking the trash on Spring Park Ave. and blocks like this on the first of the month! People throw out nice shit in JP! I have got most of my furniture from the trash and garage sales. I am no antique expert, as it were, so I probably cannot most accurately review an antique store such as «y.» that being said, no thanks on your $ 25 rusted cookie tins. Harrumph! I searched Gadgets, UMont, Boomerangs, and CVS, for some last minute holiday cookie tins/tupperware. I finally find some decent tins at yesteryear, and they are 400% over item value. Oh! Maybe there was some nostalgia I was unaware of with the tin’s name, still vaguely etched on these corroded metal scraps. But business class 101 tells me you should make some items affordable to entice me to even consider your plush couches, intricate boxes, fancy do-dads, and hand-made chachgees of bygone eras. Antique guy is a friendly, family townie guy. I wonder how antique guy stays afloat during recession times, even with the JP yuppie factor? ? «How much for the(rusty old) cookie tins?» «What do you want to pay for them?» I didn’t have the heart to say $ 2. Y? The place is too empty to haggle.

Yesteryear: assisting me in abandoning my formerly clapboard lifestyle one antique at a time. I recently purchased a 1920s secretarial desk($ 425) that is probably one of the most exquisite pieces of furniture I have ever seen in my life. And I really do mean that. The item is in extremely good shape, and has beautiful, interesting woodwork. A description just does not do it justice. I also bought an antique chest of drawers($ 50) that is really charming; it’s in excellent condition, and has a very unique shape. I just love it. This is a fabulous little neighborhood shop: wonderful, down-to-earth owner, extremely cute and old Beagle, brilliant pieces of well-preserved history ranging from Depression-era carnival ware to vintage bureaus to cast iron doorstops shaped like animals. The small space really holds a wealth of interesting items, and is just plain fun to browse. You can always find some small, odd little tchotchke in the bargain bin or at the sidewalk sale, which takes place during the nicer weather, for a few bucks, or make a serious investment on an antique. The prices, naturally, are high, but there is bargaining to be done. And what would antiquing be without a little haggling?

Good furniture at good prices. Appeals to someone looking to give their home some character and class on a budget. The only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is how small the shop is – you can look through everything in about 15 minutes, so if I’m trying to maximize my shopping time I’ll go somewhere bigger. But apparently they move through pieces pretty quickly so you’re likely to see something new every time you visit. Yesterday was my first visit — I saw a 60’s Danish-esque table with 6 chairs for $ 400. I was floored by how cheap that was. I didn’t thoroughly inspect it so I don’t know if there were any cosmetic issues, but at a glance there didn’t seem to be. The cushions were ugly but for $ 400 I can afford to reupholster! I’ll definitely be visiting again soon!

Yesteryear boasts charming vintage pieces that are thoughtfully priced and selected for your buying pleasure. This is a cute JP mainstay that caught my eye when I first moved here. The antique dressing tables and linens made my day. It’s always good for a leisurely Saturday browse, and the outside displays are so inviting. It’s like walking up to your great grandmother’s cottage door in hillside Holland. Yesteryear really does hearken back to another time, another world, and is totally worth the trip.

Really beautiful, high-quality antique furniture — I immediately fell in love with a couple of their pieces and can’t wait to purchase some for our new apartment. It’s not super-cheap, but prices are absolutely reasonable given the quality. The service is very friendly, too. Too bad they don’t have more space, but then again that probably makes for part of the charm. A MUST for antique lovers. I’ve been back a few times and decided to go down to 3 stars. The thing is, after having looked at other resources(Boomerangs, Craig’s list), I just find this place too overpriced. They certainly do have some nice pieces, but personally, I wouldn’t be willing to spend the kind of money they’re asking for most of their stuff .(For example, we were slightly interested in a table, but it was a little damaged, missed the leaf that would have allowed to extend it and certainly would have needed some work. The wood wasn’t so great either. But they are asking 400 $! Seriously, some of the furniture I’ve been seeing on Craig’s list is much better quality for better prices. Sure, you can’t compare Craig’s list with a shop, but still…). As I am a very optimistic person I will certainly be back again, but for the moment I really can’t give it more than 3 stars.
