Okay — star upgrade! Here’s why… Came in specifically looking for games for my daughters Leap Pad Ultra that’s age appropriate for her(2 years old)… The guy in the games section was very helpful. I ended up going to 2 games for age 3 – 5 only bc they didn’t have anything girly for ages 2 – 4. Anyways, my daughter loves the 2 games I bought her! :)

I’m a big kid at heart, so I love going to toys r us. I’m also a Daddy now, so I’m spending most of time at the attached Babies R Us. The staff is friendly, and have helped me a couple of time. Once to get a replacement for a set I had bought on Clearance. It was missing pieces, so I had to return it and buy it from another location. The sales clerk really went out of her way to help and make sure that I was able to get it for the same Clearance price I originally purchased. A second time I was there to buy a car seat for the kid. They didn’t have the one we liked in stock, so the sales guy called around till we found a nearby branch that had them in stock. Very happy in both cases. This location is right across of Route 6 from the JV Mall just off the Taconic Highway, so it’s easy to get to. They send me tons of coupons which is good, cause the prices here are no better, no worse then anywhere else.

Ok, a little back story here: I collect a lot of crap, one of them being action figures. Trying to relive my childhood, appreciating the artistry that goes into them, using them for home decoration, turning them into art/photo projects, whatever the reasons. I also have 2 nephews and 2 nieces that require me buying stuff here to make sure I stay the cool uncle. Due to all of that, I frequent Toys R Us often. This one is on the way home from work, so I stop off there once every few weeks to check out what they have, and I have to say, this place has really gone down hill. I actually use to work in this particular TRU back in ’92−94(the last few months of high school into my first 2 years of college). Back then, this company was a role model for other retailers, they ran a tight ship and had policies for workers which seemed a little on the Nazi-ish side, but it was always a clean, efficient, lowest price(they took a lot of pride in that), well-stocked store with employees that were encouraged to actually KNOW about the products they were selling and excel in customer service. Nowadays, the store is usually disorganized, poorly stocked, rather expensive when compared to Wal-Mart and Target, and understaffed. The few employees that are there are not exactly helpful, and seem to be in a trance. There’s usually one register open, no matter what time of day and how many other customers are ahead of you. The bathroom is always atrocious, if I had a kid, there’s no way I’d let them use it. And for some reason, they’ve decided to stop playing music in the store, so there’s just a creepy silence in there, which is occasionally disturbed by some child screaming from several isles away. I suppose this could go for most of the Toys R Us stores in the area, as well, but the Yorktown store might be the worst. I’d give it one and a half stars if possible, but I’ll say the extra half star is for the potential it has for returning to its status as a great and successful retailer that you’d be happy to visit and give your hard earned money to.

NERF, LEGOS&VIDEOGAMES! They revamped the store, finally. The Kay-Bee in the mall across the street can’t hold a plastic torch to this place.
