The selling point of Rocky’s is definitely the view. The restaurant is located right on the river, providing a beautiful view to almost every seat in the house. The food, however, isn’t quite as spectacular. Not bad, but not great. You can get a decent meal, but it won’t blow you away. Right at average. I’ve tried several pastas and sandwiches, and my favorite has been the Tortellini Basilico. It’s hard to go wrong with cheese-filled pasta, Italian sausage, and pesto cream sauce. The complimentary bread and olive oil dipping sauce are a nice bonus. There isn’t much to the house salad, but the housemade ranch dressing is pretty good. All in all, I would say this a place you go for a nice view and some food to fill your stomach.

Amazing food and view of our city! Got the fried banana peppers and let me tell you, best I’ve ever had in my entire life. Can’t beat great service and great view with an amazing beer selection! Will be back a million times!

Let me preface this by saying I am not a huge Italian food fan. I never ‘crave’ spaghetti(OK, maybe my moms spaghetti mountain), but veal Parmesan, or fettuccine Alfredo are not at the top of my list of foods I absolutely want to eat. Pizza barely makes the short list either, but if I had an Achilles heal when it comes to Italian cuisine it would be a delicious fruit based salad and a thin crust pizza… and guess what? Rocky’s has both. I frequent Rocky’s «on the river» on pretty afternoons and more frequently we went on Easter, which was pleasant as can be. I love sitting near their big windows that face the open river and the nice skyline of Louisville. On a nice evening, when its not terribly warm outside the patio is great. What keeps me coming to Rocky’s is a few things. But mainly their consistency in taste and product. First, I love their bread. Ha– who doesn’t love bread? They are definitely catering to American cuisine by bringing out a plate of Olive oil drizzled over Parmesan and oregano spices to dip a small/split-able loaf of Italian bread in. The bread is delicious! And they’ll keep it coming if you ask for it, which never hurts. Second, their soup and salad choices are great. I prefer their Apple Berry salad, but if you’re feeling adventurous try one of their house made dressings on the side as well as the vinaigrette. Maybe their pesto, or ranch. Both great choices. Third, their thin pizzas for $ 8 are a steal. I LOVE their thin crust pizzas. I have a favorite at their Louisville, Gardiner Lane location that they have since taken off their Indiana menu, but the Thai pizza is fantastic. If you’re in Louisville, and at their location, the Figgy ISMYABSOLUTE favorite pizza of all time. Don’t be scared, just do it. Overall, I always enjoy my experience at Rocky’s. Between the ambiance, the service and the great food(and the endless bread, ha), I keep coming back. I am disappointed they took my pizza off the menu, but I will just have to venture more in the world of Italiano. Maybe one day I’ll wake up and want alfredo. Hahaha. Doubtful.

Great food! Excellent service! Amazing location! Overall experience was amazing. We have eaten here several time. This particular visit, I called less than 24 hours to see if they had reservations for 35 ppl. They said they were already booked, but would make it work. I expected crappy service since they were already booked, but it was the complete opposite. They were friendly and attentive even though they were extremely busy. This is a must try spot for the entire family!

With a few exceptions, the restaurants with the best views of Louisville and the Ohio River seem to have the most meh food. And Rocky’s Sub Pub fits into this. I really wish a restaurant wouldn’t rest on its scenery laurels and actually be good. I’ve been to Rocky’s on several occasions, usually because someone is coming in to town and we want to show them the river. The service has always been mediocre — never too bad, but you usually have to wait a little bit longer than you’d like to order or get a refill. The food is adequate. The best thing I’ve eaten has been the warm loaf of bread that comes in a bag with your meal. Recently I’ve opted for the pasta. The Pasta Rosa seemed very one note — just noodles, chicken and tomato cream sauce. It seemed like the sauce came out of a can and was dumped on the pasta and chicken. The fettucini was similar and somewhat bland. The pizza is OK. It is better than the pasta, but I wouldn’t go so far as to call it «the best thin pizza on Earth,» as Rocky’s website and menus boast. One area that Rocky’s is trying to make a name for itself in is beer, and I applaud this. Rocky’s aims to have several craft beers on tap. So to summarize: Go for the view and maybe a beer.

I must admit, I have a thing with water. Oceans, lakes, and the Ohio; I love them all. I especially enjoy a dining experience on the water, and Rocky’s view does not disappoint. The pizza is great and the bread and oil served with each meal is yummy. I normally get full on the bread– whoops. Unfortunately, the service is as slow as molasses. Expect a long wait time between being seated and actually receiving your food. As I said, the food is great. There aren’t many good options for dining on the river in this area and I’d have to say this is probably as good as it gets, so we keep coming back. If the service improved this place would definitely be a solid 4 – 5 stars.

Great location with view of the river, busy and bustling pizza/sandwich restaurant and bar. I almost ordered Rocky’s Famous Calzone, which looked incredible but I wanted to be able to move sometime in the next few hours. So, I got the Caesar salad instead. It wasn’t bad, but you can definitely tell that the dressing is not home-made – too acidic, tasted store-bought. The thin-crust Margarita pizza was decent. A nice place to go maybe for a few beers to watch the game, or to sit outside when the weather is nice and have some pizza and drinks with friends.

Baked ziti was not baked at all. It was over cooked penne pasta with broiler melted cheese on top. Portion was big enough to feed 3 people. Taste was blah. And to top it all off it was $ 30.00 after tip for one entrée and one appetizer. Overall: over priced bland food. Save your money.

Solidly mediocre. Once you get past the superb location(and imagining what a lovely thing it would be to hang out on the patio in nice weather would be) everything is just«Ok, whatever». When we arrived we were all talking and noticed after the waiter had left a small white bag on the table. We had no idea what it was or who it belonged to(we thought maybe the waiter had accidentally left someones old leftovers), when my friend opened it and discovered there was bread inside. Next to the bag was a small plate of grated parmesan. There was no butter, and the only other thing on the table was a bottle of the weirdest oil I have ever seen. It was clear and colorless and had absolutely no flavor. We shouldn’t have bothered using it though because the bread was hard and stale. What a bizarre and pointless thing to offer patrons! I ended up ordering soup and salad and had some of the cheesy bread the whole table ordered. The ITALIANWEDDINGSOUP(Rich chicken broth, spinach, eggs and garnished with meatballs) was actually a delight. It was loaded with ingredients and very flavorful. The APPLEPECANSALAD(Freshly sliced granny smith apples, strawberries, sweet spring mix, apple vinaigrette dressing, blueberries, candied pecans, feta cheese) was also delicious and a half portion was the perfect size. However if it came with vinaigrette it was the stingiest amount ever because I never found it. The ingredients were nicely presented and very fresh though. Cheesy Bread:(Crispy loaf filled with garlic butter, mozzarella and provolone cheeses) we added jalapeño. It comes with marinara sauce. The sauce was surprisingly good, and the bread was actually fresh and warm, which was great. This is the kind of place you come when you have 3 children all under the age of 10(and believe me, there were many of those the night we were there!) and you want to eat just to eat. I’m not even sure it wowed me to the point that I would come back to use the fancy patio. Service was on point though, and that is what keeps this review from being a 2 star experience.

Great atmosphere! Good food, but the service can be a little slow and nonchalant at times. Go at night, when you can see the lights on the bridge and lights in downtown Louisville.

Most of us really enjoy our meal. The traditional pasta dishes such as ziti, spaghetti, and manicotti were very good. The pizza looked great but the friend that ordered it didn’t read carefully enough and got more than they bargained for on the mushroom pizza; ginger-lime drizzle. They didn’t care for that or some of the other menu changes. Never having been before, I thought the menu was very well rounded without being too overwhelming. It also seemed to take A very long time on the pasta dishes. The pizza came way before the others dishes. That all being said, I look forward to going next summer when we can sit outside. The view of the Louisville skyline is lovely and the wait staff very friendly!

Good Italian food with a wide selection of craft beers. I recommend sitting on the patio if weather permits. Overall the facilities could use an update including fresh paint and stucco work.

When we arrived, it was not busy whatsoever. The service from the start was poor, sparse and highly indifferent. We were sitting there for awhile waiting as we observed the preoccupied staff. They seemed to be more concerned about moving a bunch of tables and chairs around in a very noisy and grating fashion to accommodate a larger party that was to be located nearby us. The two couples at the tables that arrived 5 – 10 minutes after us received attention/service before we did. That was a bit annoying. Someone finally seemed to take notice of us as we were looking around to get some form attention. After we were waiting for awhile on our drink order, a random guy shows up with a paper bag containing a small, stale/dry, hard bread boule. Needless to say, it was acceptable for the ducks /geese outside, and really nothing more. We eventually ordered our pizzas. They came out fairly quickly and they tasted pretty decent for the most part. I was impressed with the price of the pizza. It was cool that you could customize your pizza as you wanted along with that very good price. Overall, I will give this restaurant three stars, for which I think is fair. It’s average to slightly above average; that’s minus the apathetic service. I would only give that ONE star. I’m not sure if we will go there again when were come to town, as there were quite a few other interesting looking restaurants along the same row overlooking the river.

I love Rocky’s! I cannot get enough of the bread that is served with dipping sauce before the meal. The Eggplant Parmesan is a must for vegetarians. Delicious! If you like Sangría, I recommend trying their white Sangría. The outside seating offers a wonderful view. In addition, Rocky’s offers curbside service, which is prompt.

Okay! You’re air conditioning isn’t functioning as it should be so leaving the place open that way isn’t an option. You either get it fixed or you close. It’s that simple. And when people come in and ask you why it’s so hot inside and you tell them the airs not working properly, AND you then tell them the air is only working in one section but that one is closed, you should expect a lousy review. So, you’re getting one. One last thing: no, I don’t want to sit outside in the 90 degree heat as an option to not sitting in the dining room that has no cool air.

So love dining with a view of the Ohio River. Excellent View inside and on the Patio. Thought we would stop for a sub but the menu lured is into something Italian. We were seated immediately with our choice of inside or outside and the service was excellent! Our drink orders were taken and we received a small loaf of Panini with Parmesan cheese and freshly ground pepper; the olive oil was already on the table a perfect combo for the warm bread. I am a big Calamari fan, even though it can be risky. The Calamari was lightly breaded and fried to perfection, very tender. It was served with an excellent Marinara sauce. My side house salad was crisp and had an excellent pesto vinaigrette dressing. My husband had a prosciutto and cheese Calzone, it too, was served with homemade Marinara sauce. We were both very pleased with our dining experience and will go back again.

Enjoyed a late dinner on the outdoor patio. Good friendly service. Calzone on the small side for dinner, but perfect for me — more importantly, crispy exterior, good balance of cheese and pepperoni within, side of basic marinara was really very good. Pasta Rosa for my husband — enjoyed, but could have benefitted from spicy sausage. Would return.

It took half an hour and the manager coming around just to get a server and our order put in once seated. Beer took another 10 after that. Although the server was friendly, Inattentive service the entire meal. I ordered the triple smoked BBQ pizza and it was good, but the thin crust tasted like a communion cracker haha. Exactly like one. My wife ordered the margherita pizza and it looked horrible and she said it didn’t taste very good either. I had never been but had heard good things about it. Needless to say, we won’t be back. Shame :/

We chose Rocky’s tonight because it has a little bit of something for everyone. Plus, the location is cool! We did call ahead seating and were quickly seated once we arrived. My tween/teen were able to order half portions off the adult menu. One still boxed hers up for leftovers and the other claimed she was«stuffed» when she finished. They ordered the fettuccine Alfredo and lasagna, which they both declared delicious. My husband ordered one of their artisan pizzas which he said was really good.(I don’t think he’s ever met a pizza he doesn’t like, though). I ordered the ½ soup and sandwich. I selected the portobello panini and Italian wedding soup. The soup was wonderful! Lots of spinach and sausage. The sandwich was«meh.» I expected one of those portobello steaks; what I got were slices of the portobello mushrooms. Good, but not great. When our food came out, my husbands pizza was not with it. The server checked on it and took the blame. She said she misread her notes and didn’t put in. I admired that she took the blame since others may not have, being afraid it would affect their tip. It took about 10 minutes for it to come out. The rest of us finished shortly after and had to wait for him. Our server did offer him a salad while he waited, but he is not a salad guy. I would’ve appreciated a slight discount, dessert, or even the manager just coming by to apologize. Overall, food was good; just frustrated by the mishap.
