After closing for a «2 week vacation» as announced on their answering machine, the«vacation» lasted months instead… The superstar chef that was emigrated from China should have stayed in China. The dining room lacks any sense of identity or charm. Ugly green tablecloths draped over small tables packed next to each other is off putting. The 15 minutes stated time for a take out order took 45 minutes to prepare. 4 cooks were visible in the kitchen and couldn’t get 3 take out orders and the 4 tables food ready. That’s some superstar hotel chef from China? Equally disappointing was the food itself. Nothing special about any of dishes we ordered, the standard plastic containers weren’t even filled despite charging $ 14.95. Their high prices would be worth it if the food was great, it’s not.

Went last night for chinese… they are closed already. Only open for a year. Too bad, food was great. Hopefully they will reopen.

Dim sum or any dish is authentic without having to trek to Chinatown or Queens. Personally, I like the Peking pork chop, seafood pan-fried noodle, shrimp noodle, shiu mai, etc. You can custom order the rice noodles with fried U-toy and hoisin sauce. End on a sweet note with custard bun and sesame ball.

Visited here for lunch. Communication problems with the wait staff. Orders came out incorrect from the kitchen(most likely the server’s fault), but were corrected quickly. Asked for a small plate order for my ten year old, but received the full platter size, and since I did not want her to wait any longer I just accepted it. Standard food selections. Nothing creative. Not much different from my local take out restaurant in Glen Cove.

First time at this location. We went for dim sum with a large group and took up 2 tables. They never rushed us, even though one table was finished before the other and we were basically just taking up space on a busy day. Only one vegetarian item came around(spring rolls) in addition to some of the items that were more for dessert(which were very tasty– you must get the steamed custard buns!). It’s always a nice treat to come here, but I wish there were more options without meat. However, the waiters did offer other items to order from the menu.

The food is very good here overall– mostly authentic and similar to what you’d find in Queens or Chinatown(I wouldn’t say better but just as good). It’s pricier of course but I guess they have to pay Jericho rent prices. I’ve been here and/or ordered out from this restaurant many times now. Their good is consistently good. I especially liked their jumbo shrimp, shrimp with lobster sauce, ying yang fried rice, beef chow fun, general tso’s chicken, basil chicken, and their dim sum. Their waiters are just okay but their manager and cashiers are always friendly and engaging. The food comes fast and they can accommodate large groups. I would recommend this place.

Just ok. I had high hopes for this place but found that the selection of dim sum was limited and the taste was just ok. After the disappointment of the dim sum, we resorted to ordering off the menu. The food was again just ok. On par with what I would get at my local take out place. Only here, the rim of the plate was dirty and the food appeared sloppy on the plate. Not what I was expecting.

Went last Sunday for Dim Sum. Food was very good — rivaled the restaurants in Flushing. Service was very good. The other food looked really good and I plan to be back to try the other dishes on the menu.

Never again!!! Bad customer service. Ordered take out and when we had gotten home, one of the dishes was wrong. We called to explain that they had gotten the order wrong and the women who answered was completely rude and stated that’s what we ordered. what happened to the customer is always right. All I have to say is they lost a loyal customer… I guess we have to find another chinese resturant…

I went here with my family on Sunday. We were seated right away. Dim sum was very good. Nice selection of dishes. The staff keeps going around to ask if we would like anything else. Pork buns were very good. Stick rice not bad but I prefer it to be in a banana leaf. It is owned by the same owner of Orient in Bethpage. Quality was just as good but not as crowded. We will definitely return.

I been here several times. The Dim Sum is good, except for their steam pork. The food is generally good.

I dined here on Labor Day(9/7/15).The space is nice, no ostentatious decoration and plenty of room between tables. Unfortunately, this restaurant is LOUD, like Romper Room on Steroids. Service was pleasant and very attentive, with the waiter being quick to refill water glasses, make space on my table for two and bring new appetizer plates. That made a very good impression. The food was attractively presented on simple white square plates. The food was very good. Spareribs(6) were meaty and perfectly cooked. The Shrimp Dumplings were very fresh and tasty with optional soy or mustard toppings on the side. My Clams with Black Bean Sauce were extremely fresh and very well seasoned. The Yong Chow Fried Rice was topped and filled less generously than I have seen elsewhere and a little dry. It was good, however. My dining companion thoroughly enjoyed the Shrimp with Lobster Sauce. Prices at this restaurant are extremely reasonable, especially when one factors in the quality. I would not hesitate to return to Orient Odyssey.

Not sure why a fabulous place on Bethpage would open a not so fabulous sister restaurant in Jericho. There is no ambiance. No bar! Service is terrible and they don’t even serve your food at the same time. Had to ask for utensils and then only got one set. It’s not there where chopsticks on the table either. Unreal. I came here when it first opened and was not impressed then. Thought I would give it another shot, big mistake. You need to up your game if you want to stay in this neighborhood

The food is not good here. Everything I had was either too salty or too bland. Some things I had were he spare ribs, sesame chicken, and pan fried noodles. Not good at all. The only thing I had that was good was the jumbo shrimp, they just could have given more. You’re better off going to a cheaper restaurant with the same quality food. It gave me a huge stomach ache that night and the next day. Service was not good either. Waiters were not attentive or friendly. They just left wine glasses on the table. They didn’t pass them out or even ask how many we needed. We were a party of 10 and they gave us like 5 wine glasses and at least 4 bottles of wine. They didn’t come and take things out of our way and our food took a while to come out. Everyone raves about this place, but I personally can name 10 chinese restaurants 10 times better. One good part was BYOB.

When it comes to Chinese food, it seems like everyone has their own litmus test. For me, it has always been General Tso’s Chicken and Pork Fried Rice(«uh that’s not REAL Chinese food, I studied abroad in Chengdu and-» yeah whatever). My opinions of Chinese restaurants live and die by how these two dishes are done and I’m happy to say Orient Odyssey passed my test with flying colors. First let’s talk about everything else. The place looks really nice and, along with Market Bistro and Café Dolce Vita, might just revitalize the fairly dingy strip mall it occupies. The service, while not«friendly»(c’mon, its not a TGI Fridays) certainly wasn’t rude or anything of the sort. Similarly, all of these 1-star reviews complaining about«slow» service all seem to reference the soft-open(which should tell you just how much these people actually know about dining). Plus this is in Jericho, where anything short of the royal treatment is seen as an affront to human decency. When I ate there, the service was lightning quick. My party was seated immediately, tea was there in less than a minute, and all of our food came out within 10 minutes. Now, the food. The roast pork fried rice was excellent. Most places will skimp on the pork and eggs and you’ll really end up getting«onion fried rice» but not here. It was certainly overwhelmingly rice, but I was able to get a little bit of everything in each bite, so it gets my seal of approval. Now, the General Tso’s chicken was what completely blew me away. The sauce is pretty indistinguishable from any other Chinese place’s, but the quality of the chicken and the way it was prepared are what elevates this to a level of excellence. I’ve been to quite a few places that like to hide the gross bits of chicken by deep-frying them, but not here. Each piece of chicken was all meat, not once did I bite into a glob of fat or gristle(which is sadly very common at other places). The fried coating was perfect: thin and crispy, not hard and greasy. I’ve been a Yim’s loyalist for years, but this place might just win me over.

My favorite place to go for Saturday lunch. I live in Suffolk and this is the closest place for good quality dim sum! I used to go to the Orient in Bethpage, and as it is owned by the same person almost everything is consistent(same menu/prices). I would say the décor is a bit more modern and more open, and they give jasmine tea yum! The first page in their small laminate menu has the dim sum plates(small/medium/large) with my favorites being the pan fried leek dumpling, pork shumai and baked pork bun which is only available on Saturdays. The carts were fast to come and the service was great. One thing I love is that I am horrible at using chopsticks but never feel judged when I struggle hah. Even if my boyfriend and I stuff our faces, our bill is usually $ 25! Definitely recommend this place for a cheap yummy meal!

My parent is Chinese but I don’t speak Chinese fluently, and I know how hard it takes for they to learn English. So when I arrived to the restaurant and seating, the older waitress who has serve me water was friendly and nice. Although there was few of the communication problems going, but I don’t blame him. Instead, I was patiently waiting for other waitress to come. The food is not bad, but the desserts is not as good as the other Orient restaurant they own.

Tommy has brought his outstanding Bethpage Hong Kong style Asian cuisine to Jericho and wow is this place a treat! The food is so docs rely prepared no grease and no MSG for top quality Chinese and seafood. Basil chicken is to dye for and salt and pepper shrimp is amazing. Everything is high quality. Their house special lunch dumplings are amazing. This place is deserving of the 5 star review. Outstanding service too. They get you in and out bit you won’t feel rushed.

You would have thought that with many years of experience behind them the management of this off shoot of Orient Bethpage, would have been more prepared for their soft opening. The confusion reigned supreme this saturday night with throngs of hungry patrons waiting on line to get one of the tables. Our party of 5 sat and got water and menus shortly after being seated. Thats when the chaos started… We couldnt get the attention of the short staffed wait staff and when they did come over they kept forgetting to take our order. When I finally got one of the waiters and told him for the 3rd time I wanted to «order» I fell off my seat when he came back with a glass of «water!» We got our dishes basically one at a time. from first plate to last was more than one hour and a half, and we had to tell them to forget the last dish we never got even after telling at least 3 of the staff we were missing a dish. We couldnt believe the ineptitude of the staff… as hard as they tried, and I’m sure they did try, they couldnt get it right. The food was ok, but to put up with the chaos and confusion really detracted from what should have been an enjoyable experience. I suggest waiting awhile for a visit so they can get their act together. I wish Tommy good fortune in his new venue.

Saturday night of grand opening week, one would expect this much heralded new restaurant to be a bit overwhelmed by the crowds – and it was. As in its older sibling, the Orient in Bethpage, there is no where for diners waiting to be seated to wait, except along the black granite bar that stretches almost the entire depth of the restaurant. A hostess took names, but didn’t follow her own list in seating guests. The ceilings are high and, thus, the noise level doesn’t seem as bad, but the design is sterile. The food is different, too, though the menu is quite similar to the Orient. Crispy noodles are puffier, perhaps baked – not fried. Wonton soup broth while deep gold was just meh. An app of lettuce wrapped minced crab presented an interesting contrast in textures, but failed to sparkle. Loin of pork in a garlic sauce was tender and flavorful, however, and jumbo shrimp with onions in a sweet Hong Kong soy sauce –ordered for me by Tommy – combined large, firm, but tender peeled shrimp with minced garlic in a sweetish, but not compelling sauce. No orange slices here for dessert, just fortune cookies. And NO corkage, for the moment on BYO wine. BTW, OO uses real wine glasses, not water goblets. It’s a lot more convenient to get to than the original, but OO may need some time to distinguish itself, if it can. It’s worth a second try. Let’s hope Tommy can get this place rockin’. Having forgotten my wine carrier, I returned Sunday to pick it up and decided to stay for dim sum lunch. Mostly Asian faces in the room and a few gwailos. A few empty tables, but noticeably quieter. Fair variety. Dim Sum on carts and more to order on the menu. Baked roast pork buns were fresh and terrific, as were pork triangles. Meatballs with cilantro were boring. Congee, which some may like to hospital food, was tasty, especially with a churro-like unsweetened donut. Custard buns out this world.
