Two out of two times we went there we were quoted 20 minutes wait time for our 20 piece wing order. Both times they lied. One time we waited close to 40 minutes, and another almost an hour(because they forgot about us, but at least they admitted to the fact).

LOVE Bonchon. The texture of the chicken is so crunchy and not heavy at all. The seasoned fries are perfect. When the weather is nice the syore front opens completely and is a greay sining experience. The only reason this location doesn’t get 5 stars is because when I went in to have dinner they didn’t have chicken breast to make strips… WAT. How is that even possible.

I first tried Bonchon at their Boston location and I thought I’d never eat their chicken again once I moved. So you can imagine my surprise and delight after finding out there’s a Jersey City location and it’s a short walk away! Let’s break it down: The food: I ordered the wings and they were good. As usual, they were cooked to order and they had the same crispy, soy garlic flavor that I like, Service: The service was fine. The cashier took my order and made it clear that the wings would take 20 minutes to cook. The location/space: It’s definitely a «takeout» restaurant, so it’s not as nice as the other Bonchon locations that I’ve seen. So if you’re looking for a night on the town at this Bonchon location, I’ll suggest you rethink that. Instead, get your chicken and settle down in front of that TV.

I can’t believe I recently tried this place after living in jersey city forever. Very affordable. We ate here for a quick snack and shared a 10pc chicken for 10 $. The chicken is perfectly cooked and the different oriental inspired sauces give it a unique twist. No, this is NOT your traditional fried chicken place. I guess they use a different technique because there isn’t excess skin or fat. Whatever they do is amazing because this place is the BOMB.

I love Bonchon. The first time I tried it was 4 years ago in NYC but I wasn’t as impressed as I was with this location! My boyfriend and I split the 10pc chicken strips with half soy garlic sauce and half spicy sauce. Both flavors were delicious but I liked the kick better of the spicy sauce. We also split the Bulgogi Bonchon wrap which was okay but I think the strips or wings have a better flavor. The ranch dressing makes the wrap bland, unfortunately. Maybe they should try different sauces. For a side we ordered the onion rings and they were also delicious. The fry batter they use is very light and the chicken and nice and thin so everything is tender and crispy. The onion ring side is huge. We thought it might not be enough but by the end we were so full and we were just able to finish the meal. The prices are cheap and the quality of the meat is great.

Another«in a rush» restaurant. Some of them have bad attitude. Manager needs to pay attention on their services. Food is not good as ones in Manhattan. I still remember the time in another place when I saw a waitress literally asked, for tips after one customer complained about the food and service. What’s wrong with these restaurants. Not everyone could be happy about their work everyday, but for the service industry where compensation is related to your attitude, nothing is worse for a bad attitude-bad payoff loop.

Ordered 2 large combos and fries for delivery. Chicken tasted as usual but the fries were way below par. The delivery took over an hour though which was a bit annoying, especially since we were quoted 45 mins max. The delivery guy they sent was terrible and gave us attitude for not being able to do his job and find our place(no one else has ever had an issue before) — called to let bonchon know and all they could say was that they were using a 3rd party, and we should ask for a different delivery guy next time. Will probably just not order delivery from here again.

These guys are serious about their chicken. Everything is made to order and so fresh. Their veggie dumplings blew my mind. It’s like chicken wings with the sauces and all but with dumplings. Their chicken wings were a big hit. Fries — just so perfectly crispy and seasoned. Bibimbap was really fresh and light too. All in all 5 stars!!! Tip: for all of you complaining about the long wait times… if you are ordering chicken — call ahead(10 – 20 mins). The wait is quite annoying(I know) but totally worth it because it’s NOT fast food but made to order…

Tried BonChon for the first time today. Ordered the bonchon salad to go. It was excellent. The salad comes with lots of crispy chicken pieces and they gave me plenty of soy ginger dressing on the side. The quality of the chicken was exceptionally good — I will definitely go back and try their wings and other chicken options. Solid takeout option in the newark ave/grove st area. May be worth calling your order in; I waited a little less than 10 mins for my salad.

I confess; I had a serious Korean-style chicken habit for quite a while. Mostly got over it but the yearning creeps back when I spot BonChon. Had a very happy meal of those little drumsticks there a couple of years ago. But when I stopped in recently with a family member, I spotted a sign warning of a 25-minute wait for those desirous of drums! It’s all about the drumsticks in these places; how could they make us wait in such proximity to those heavenly flavors wafting over from the kitchen??? I settled for the bibimbap; but sadly it looked nothing like the posted picture. The ingredients were different, and included salad mix that looked like it just came out of a bag.(Hey, I can do THAT all by myself at home…) Why not do as the Korean chicken restaurants in NYC do so perfectly – just focus on the drums and wings(soy, or garlic, or a combo), and a few sides, ideally including sweet potato fries. Then volume would allow you to satisfy your customers in a more reasonable 10 minutes or so. At least that’s what I would do if I were Korean, and could cook..

Appears the fried chicken is made to order as it takes at least 25 mins from the time of payment to receiving my order. Ordered half n half medium combo. Couple of gripes They charge extra for the picked radishes — other NYC bon chons include this as a free side. The cashier/or owner doesn’t seem high on customer service. Very disinterested, unfriendly, and dismissive staff. But I guess you go there for the food, and not the customer service. Though you’d think if he was the owner, he’d have more of a personal stake in treating customers a bit nicer.

Finally got my chicken — yummy as usual. They have a sign up inside now that says: 25 minute wait for drumsticks, 20 minutes for wings, 10 for everything else. I’d say call ahead to be safe, even if you’re eating in!

yummy chicken wings and flavor. However, this BonChon isn’t as good as the one in NYC and this one charges extra for the pickled radish but, nonetheless, still delicious :) Just be aware that delivery takes a while!

Their spicy chicken 20pc and 6pc beef dumpling are mouth watering and yummyyyyy!!! Highly recommended! Another note. I ordered from for pickup. Spent $ 30 on food and I didn’t even get a greeting at the location. The girl needs to work on her customer service. A HI and a smile would be nice.

Although this one may have been the first of the Korean style chicken places, they are stuck behind the times and will most likely lose half their customers to Kyo Chon and places similar due to their refusal to offer a ‘grilled’ option when everyone else does. Everything Bön Chon has on the menu is death to your arteries — with no exceptions. Kyo Chon has awesome grilled soy garlic wings that blow Bön Chons deep fried, heart attack wings out of the water for both health reasons as well as pure flavor. I asked them to do grilled option and they blew me off. Never going back. Ever.

Korean twice fried chicken. Mmmm. I’ve been to a super swanky Bonchon in NoVa that is sadly no more but one thing I have learned from that is: you are gonna wait for those drumsticks. They are worth it. It is a tiny location, the menu is limited, the chicken is very good, from the legs to the strips. If you need a little something more, the zucchini fries are a pretty good side. We always manage to order way too much chicken for two people, so we’ll usually bring along a friend. You can’t go wrong with either sauce(Soy Garlic and Hot) and I do suggest eating the chicken there as opposed to taking it home first, but that could be just me. I want that chicken the minute it’s ready. Not much else to say about this place… it’s not your typical cheap fast food chicken; I don’t know why anyone would expect that here!

Probably more like a 3.5 but I’m feeling generous. Ever since the first time I tried Korean fried chicken, i get cravings for it from time to time. What makes this fried chicken«Korean»? Just the flavors and the texture itself I suppose. I usually order the soy garlic which is a salty/sweet mix but for those who like something with a kick, you can order the hot/spicy option. What I really enjoy is that the chicken is not drenched in sauce yet the flavor is still infused and the skin is still crispy. The sweet potato fries are nothing to write home about but if you really have a craving then by all means go for it. I’ve eaten in and ordered delivery here. Both times the wait was somewhat long but it’s because the food is made to order. At least when you’re ordering delivery, a longer wait time is expected. If you’re waiting in the store it can literally seem to take forever. I prefer the locations in the city since they have more of a restaurant vibe versus the fast food vibe at the location in Jersey City but I’m just glad this one is nearby to satisfy those occasional cravings.

I’ve only been here once, and that being during a quiet lunch time, so this review is subject to change. Bonchon is located a few blocks from the Grove St Path station, on a block that has a produce grocery store, restaurants and more. Key highlights: — there is a $ 10 minimum and no ATM at the store. Plan accordingly — they make everything«fresh» — meaning nothing is sitting around for quick takeout — wait time for 6 breast strips is ~10mins, 20 for wings and 25 for drum sticks — lunch special is $ 6 – 10, which includes a primary item, soda/water and a side(kimchi, rice or pickled radish) –Cashier didn’t seem too confident in explaining the options I got the bulgogi wrap and 6 strips of hot and spicy variety. The wrap is light on meat and had a lot of kimchi and lettuce. I personally could’ve used more Flavor in the sauces/meat seasoning. The breast strips were very hot(temperature) and the sauce was not too sloppy. I could taste the spices, and my mouth was lightly hot, but it could’ve been better. Kimchi coleslaw was good, likely kimchi sauce blended in coleslaw. I enjoyed it though. All of this was about $ 15, which was fairly priced.
