I love dive bars, and I love living near a few really good ones, but this place is weird and dirty. Just because it’s a dive doesn’t mean you can’t pick up a mop or a sponge once in a while. I’m really glad they don’t have taps or food because that would be a disaster. Oh and it’s really, really quiet, like a library. Clean this place and turn on some music, and you’ll have a total gold mine in a prime location.

This is not a good bar. Stopping in with a friend towards the end of a Saturday night, there were fewer than a half-dozen other customers. The atmosphere was 70s-dive, with a pretty rockin’ soundtrack to match. The bartender was quick and the drinks dirt-cheap($ 3 for a bottle of Yuengling? Score!). Cheap bottled beer is just about the older bright spot: Guillo’s is bare-bones, with no grill and no taps. The beer selection is limited to just a few macro brews and they seem to do a brisk package good service. If you’re looking for a place to grab a quick and cheap beer with no other trappings, you could definitely do worse but this isn’t a destination.

If it were possible to give less than one star, I would. The place is a dirty, old throwback to the 70’s or something and not in a good way. The owner doesn’t even try… no beer on tap, no grill, etc. Folks popping in and out buying canned beer to go as they drive past this bar on their way out of the Holland a Tunnel. Handicap folks pulling up in electric scooters and chain locking them to the corner stop sign. Seriously? Yes, seriously. Heard that it was for sale and was so hoping for a nicer spot in the neighborhood. As is, it’s a prime candidate for one of those Bar makeover shows on tv. Blech.

Love this local watering hole. The owner Guillo is the best. Steve the bar tender is so friendly and inviting. Don’t let the cat out of the bag how great this place is. Mike F is a weirdo.

I went in here looking for a friend of mine and got the dirtiest looks from the barman. Can’t wait ’til it changes hands. PS: The Sopranos filmed a scene here once.
