We always stop here on the food court after shopping. Either this or Panda Express, but usually here. A lot of food for one person. Love this place

I agree with most of what I read here… what’s Hawaiian in this place? I didn’t even see one dish in the menu with SPAMLOL. Change your name to Asian Grill or anything but Hawaiian, you might get a better review. But to be fair, your spicy beef noodle is very good and the hibachi chicken as well. Yes, I ordered them both and finished it. But if you are not a heavy eater like me, these two dishes can feed 2 – 3 petite people. Another good thing about it is that the price of both dish is only $ 13 and change… Not bad at all. I don’t know about this but I think I discovered something good… have you tried dipping a Hibachi chicken in a sriracha sauce? :-)

First time I came here, the vietnamese phở wasnt bad. 2nd and 3rd time it was horrible. I understand this isnt a genuine Viet restaurant but oh well. The flavor isnt consistent.

I thought I wrote a review of the spicy noodle soup a few years ago, but maybe not. There’s nothing inherently Hawaiian here. Today I got the $ 6.29 special. While the sides of mixed vegetables and string beans were pretty good, the salt-and-pepper pork chop suffered from being lukewarm.

First time here and it’s way better than your teriyaki chicken usually is what I get when I comes to newport. My girlfriend loves it so much that she won’t stop eating and usually I have to tell her to eat her food that’s how good it is the people complaining about the broccoli premade and what not this fast food you want fine dining go to New York.

4 stars for the hot spicy noodle broth(although other foods are just average mall quality). That spicy broth has quite unique taste, comparing to other spicy flavor, Chinese style or not. If you order mild spicy, they will put just one ladle of it with 2 ladles of non spicy broth. You don’t taste much hot but the noodle soup taste better with its unique signature, similar to miso with a hint of Sichuan spicy taste. Hope I know what spicy paste they use for that. Highly recommend spicy lovers to try. :)

Apparently when ordering hibachi, you need to doublr specify that you want the hibachi grilled vegetables instead of some premade cheap broccolis. They don’t ask you to choose the option and default your order to the premade veggies EVENTHOUGH all their menu pictures are obvioulsy with the hibachi grilled vegetables. What a cheap way to scam customers. If I wanted the premade veggies, why wouldnt I simply walk 10 steps to the other chinese place that gives you 2 meat &2 sides for a CHEAPER price!

My Friend ordered from this place and I had a couple of bites. The food is definitely passable. She had hibachi noodles with a chicken entrée. The entrée was somewhat bland and the noodles were not that good. If you are craving Americanized Chinese food go to Panda Express or maybe Sarku. Skip this place!

Update — they have the cheapest side of white rice($ 1.19) and their teriyaki chicken had a lot of chicken. The noodles, alas, still lacked flavor, but they were certainly trying harder to get customers.

Meh! Not sure why its called Hawaiian Grill, aside from the pineapples in the general tso’s chicken. I was hoping to discover some freshly prepared food, with a resemblance of being grilled and healthy, but all I found was the ugly child of Panda Express and Sarku. I had the pineapple chicken, which was just deep fried chicken breading with pineapple, veggies(which were not good; honestly how hard is it to steam veggies?!), and the lo mein which wasn’t all that bad. Save yourself the trip and go to Panda Express or get some chicken teriyaki at Sarku.

i was feening for some phở and i was like wow they have some in newport mall! i was glad to try. i told them i dont want the raw meat that usually comes with it and put the extra cooked meat. they told me that is red onion, i swear it was raw meat in the picture! the soup was super bland and the meat was just cooked with no essence or flavor. so i really had noodles with bland soup, there was no lemon or lime or chives, and a few brussel sprouts. ive had ton of phở and this wasnt good at all. the price was decent, it was $ 6.41.

When I read the reviewer below me mention that there was a Great Khans here, I literally cried! Well here’s how I can make you save $ 6 if you were to be planning on having some soupy noodles at this pace. Once you have decide go down a couple of floors, walk towards JC Penney, exit out of the mall, head towards the Pep boys you see on your left, behind which is a Shop rite. Go to the 3rd aisle(asian section) and pick up a souper meal, add some hot water and viola! you just saved yourself $ 8.50-$ 1.50 = $ 7 Try other options in the mall… maybe the Indian paces or the subway or maybe even the mc donalds downstairs!

This stall used to be occupied by Great Khan which unfortunately closed. I never ordered meat there but if you liked vegetables, it was a pretty good place. In the end it was a bit too healthy or pricey for the mall crowd because business never seemed good there. Hawaiian Grill came along to take its place. I had no idea what it would be, but it turns out to be basically Panda Express with pineapple chicken. I ordered the spicy beef with 2 sides: lo mein and vegetables. The life was cooked out of the vegetables; the only source of taste came from the slightly salty white sauce. Half of my beef were as chewy as rubber foam and therefore could not be eaten. The saving grace of the meal was the lo mein which was surprisingly good. If I were forced to choose between Panda Express and here, I would choose here. 1.5 + 0.5(lo mein) = 2 stars (Update early 2013) The vegetable has much less sauce now and it tastes better. The lo mein is as good as ever. I generally eat a chicken dish so did not get a chance to reevaluate the beef. They changed their menu. They offer noodle soup and hibachi style food in the same style as Sarku’s across the food court. Their hibachi is MUCH less greasy than Sarku’s. Sarku’s chicken leaves a nasty aftertaste; my friend suspects they add pork fat. But here is it cleaner. Also the portion is rather generous. The lo mein is still delicious. 2.5 + 0.5(lo mein) = 3 stars. (Update 3⁄2014) Maybe the owner has changed? But those chicken pieces for the hibachi are low quality pieces full of tendon and cartilage. The veggie tastes somewhat nasty. The Hawaiian chicken sauce is so sweet it is almost inedible. 1.5 + 0.5(lo mein) = 2 stars.
