This is my 2nd time here and I only came back because Teppan was closed. Should have known better than to come back. Service was horrible. The waitress didn’t give us any drinks or even pay attention to us. We finally got her attention to take our order. She then became our sushi chef. She went to the sushi bar and starting cutting the sushi. When the food came it looks as if the sushi piece was cut in half. Really? The smallest pieces ever! After we ate we were waiting for our bill. She didn’t bother coming to our table. Mind you we were the only ones there. Eventually my bf just went up to her to get the bill. Horrible. Will not go back!

My first time here. The place was empty on Friday evening. Enjoyed Sashimi a la carte. Very reasonable prices. Will definitely come back to try other dishes.

First impression is that service is poor… Or our waitress was having a bad day and not present to her new customers… Do not expect a warm welcoming environment. The salad was traditional lettuce(no carrots) with ginger carrot dressing. The Alaskan Roll(salmon, cucumber and avocado roll) was good. The Tempura Udon was good, generous portions of shrimp tempura. The price is moderate but given the poor service not sure this is a do over joint. At least not for lunch

I don’t understand all the negative reviews here because I’ve always had a good experience :/(I’ve only gotten take-out so I can’t comment on the dine-in service). The portions they give you are always generous and service is always fast. The ramen is delicious! No complaints here!

My fiancée and I have lived in JC for 7 years now. We’ve eaten sushi at loads of places and Sakura has consistently been the best in the area. Always fresh, good quality, good price, and consistent. Bubble tea is good as well, and we’ve tried bubble tea from lots of places in the area. My only complaint is that occasionally the delivery takes a little longer than estimated, but I’m OK waiting an extra 10 minutes if the food is good, and it always is. Couldn’t believe this place was only rated 2.5 stars on Unilocal and felt I had to chime in with a good review.

Decent sushi, great bubble tea. We order often at work and the only bad thing I can say is, if you ask for extra soy sauce they won’t give it to you… ever.

The best spicy tuna roll and shrimp tempura!!! I was a big fan of Sushi Lounge in Hoboken until I discovered this gem. The food is fresh and delicious. The dining room is a very stereotypical Asian restaurant from the late 70’s and early 80’s, but the service was excellent. Definitely come hungry and the chef is very flexible. A def JC gem

This review is for their bubble tea which I really like although I only get one flavor all the time, the coffee latte. It’s insanely good and suites my taste buds almost too well.

Poor service, slow service. My girlfriends chicken teriyaki was not fresh and the chicken was like rubber. The waitress didn’t care that she wasn’t satisfied with the food and just walked away. My sushi was good but other than that everything was bad I can see why it’s a 2 star rating.

Went for sushi and got rice smh there was no filling in the roll. Look elsewhere for sushi. I went here a few years ago and they were decent. I wouldn’t come back after today. Save ur money and time go to Grand Banks

Not bad but I think there are better options in the area. Sushi rolls are okay, tuna tataki could have been better and we tried Beef Negimaki which was a nice surprise as we’ve never tried it. So so in overall quality/price…and no alcohol in the menu

Gross. No flavor at all and I ordered tempura and a special roll @ $ 12.95. Pissed. How can sushi have no flavor.

Okay, here’s the deal: I’m not one who goes out of my way to post a negative review of a local business — and that’s not my objective here, either, as the people who run it seem very nice — but I do need to be honest about their food. If you’re looking for a quick bite in the area, this place will do fine. But, if, like me, you expect great quality fish when ordering sushi 100% of the time, I would recommend going elsewhere. The quality of their salmon, yellowtail, tuna, etc., is mediocre and the fish-to-rice ratio is way too disproportionate. They use twice as much rice as they should per piece. Also, I’m personally not a fan of any place that includes crunchy bits in rolls every time you order a spicy something. If I wanted a spicy CRUNCHY scallop roll, I would’ve ordered one. Overall, I would highly recommend Komegashi over these guys as the fish is second to none.

Holy cow this place is bad! DONTEVERCOMEHERE!!! My wife was craving for California rolls and I didn’t think anyone can mess up such a simple thing but I was wrong!!! The food tasted so had that we couldn’t even finish one roll which is only 6 pieces. The rice and advocado tasted told, even almost spoiled. Not sure what is going on in this place but I’m surprised it is not out of business, yet.

Their sushi is great… though one time I had a weird smell coming out of the spicy salmon roll lol. but it could be me… so i don’t order salmon roll anymore.

Tried this place out for fun. They are not authentic Japanese so not much expected from the start. Tried out their Sukiyaki which is supposed to be beef along with scallion, shirataki, shiitake, tofu, etc., to be eaten with raw egg. Theirs is a nabeyaki soup based potato noodles. Totally different menu. Their food is really not worth the money. Service is dead slow. Don’t go there with too many people since they never have people so they are not trained for it. Bubble tea is okay. I would go back for the bubble tea.

I will not order from this place on the account of their horrible delivery man. How does it take over an hour to delivery food that was placed at 9? It wasn’t a dinner rush and my place was not far at all from the physical restaurant. My party and I were so displeased with everything about this restaurant and how rude the delivery man was, that we didn’t tip him much at all. He flipped out and cursed us out, made a scene, and we ignored him and walked away. Like, why should we tip you 15−20% for a service that was beyond horrible. Honestly, this place sucks. I haven’t ordered here since not matter how much I’m craving Asian cuisine… because their reputation after that incident is down the drain. I always take my business elsewhere and I always tell people I know in the area to skip this place in fear they’ll have a crummy experience like I did. It seems from the other reviews… their whack food and whack service is decently consistent.

Sub-par sushi and horrible service. My friend and I went to dinner here on a Tuesday night. We both got standard rolls which were heavy on the rice-to-sushi ratio. My green salad must have just been washed because it was soaking wet and the ginger dressing became diluted. We could never get the waitress’s attention, which makes it worse that we were the only one’s there(an alarm in of itself). She forgot my salad, let our drinks go dry, wouldn’t give us our check… This place is in a convenient location, but that’s about it.

Stopped by this place and ordered 2-roll lunch special which includes miso soup for $ 8.95. It could have included salad with it. There’s nothing special or memorable here, but I’m sure I’ll stop by for bubble tea. ;) They take credit card with minimum $ 10.
