Larsen’s Restaurant

So I ordered the Larsen’s burger and a tilapia sandwich. Typically I expect burgers come with a pickle and coleslaw. I got none. The tilapia sandwich arrived short of buns so I got a tilapia fried with a leaf and no sauce. The burger was over cooked. I did like that the burger was made with steak something different I’m not sure if that was intentional or ran out if ground beef. Either way, I hear in store it’s a better experience. Definitely will not order for delivery again

Bless their hearts, you can tell they are working hard! Delivery driver was very kind, the receptionist was clear and helpful about an item they didn’t have, and they are re-​delivering the dessert that was misplaced. Delivery arrived as estimated (~an hour) on a Friday night.
Pros: Food was hot on arrival! Kids loved the chicken nuggets. Bbq chicken sauce was amazing! Mashed potatoes, fried shrimp, yams, onion rings, and coleslaw were tasty.
Cons: The lentil soup reeked of cigarette smoke and was not edible.
All in all its a 3-​star experience, and given how accommodating they were with the mistakes, I may order here again when I get the chicken craving!

The only reason I’m giving this place any stars is because the food taste amazing. But unfortunately I had to stop coming for 2 reasons.
1. Service is lacking. Young people with attitudes. They seemed very inexperienced and poorly trained.
2. Last time I went there were ROACHES. Everywhere.
I’m not going to bother coming back to see if the issues were resolved. The manager and I would have regular conversations, they knew about the roach problem. I’m disappointed because I really did love the food and the price was affordable.

I would highly advise against ordering delivery from here Ordered delivery today at noon, arrived at 1:10. Food was not worth an hour and a half wait… not even worth a ten minute wait. Bacon egg and cheese was not good. Bread is hard. Eggs are cold. French fries are soggy. Mac and cheese is inedible, hard cheese on the top, not even mixed in with the noodles. It tastes like cardboard. We threw it out.

Ordered delivery and was missing three different items! When I called, the restaurant had zero customer services skills in handling this. No apologies, and they said the delivery guy would be back in five minutes with the missing items. Thirty minutes later, the delivery guy came back with one item still missing! And the food was incredibly average and overpriced.

Very slow service and they usually get the order wrong. The only bright side of that their chicken is good

Placed an order for delivery through Eat24 at 10am this morning. I called the restaurant at 11:30 because the food hadn’t been delivered yet. The girl that picked up the phone put me on hold for 5 minutes then hung up on me. When I called back, she said that they were still working on my order and that they would leave to deliver it «soon.» When I asked for an ETA she said she couldn’t give me one. By 12:20, the food still hadn’t been delivered so I cancelled it.

They hv very good food and the service is so homely, you wanna go back again n again. Corn muffin! Thumps up incredible …:p everything else amazing.

Had the steak and eggs with cheese grits. A+. The grits always steal the show, but everything else is equally delicious, and the service flawless. I love this place.

Terrible Food and the worst restaurant! I ordered on Eat24 and deliver after an hour. None of the items i ordered were correct.
— Ordered «Breakfast Steak Burger with Eggs (Medium) with Croissant». Send me burger meat with scramble eggs on BAGEL!
— Ordered «Ham, Bacon, Sausage Breakfast Sandwich» and the sandwich only came with Stack of Ham which is almost unable to swallow.
— Ordered «Fruit Cup» and they told me the only thing they have is corn.
Will i ordered from them ever again? No! Never ever.

I had food from here 3 times — twice delivery and once dine in. Totally different experiences! I can see why people bash this place when it comes to delivery BUT eating is a much much much better experience!
Dining in is great! The food is very delicious, the restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly. I will definitely come back to eat in. I highly recommend the chicken and waffles!
FYI: to everyone getting delivery — DONT DO IT! It takes forever to arrive and will most likely be soggy by the time it gets to you. I live pretty close by but the last time I ordered the food took way over an hour and the order wasn’t right. Delivery doesn’t do justice unfortunately as dining in this place has much more to offer.
5 stars for eating in. In my chicken and waffle experience, they’re 2^nd/​3^rd. If you want the best chicken and waffles — go uptown to Amy Ruth’s on 116^th.

I love this place. When my husband and I first moved into our new place we were starving so we took a walk and ate here. The staff is so nice and the manager takes care of you. I order my morning coffee here. The cashier always knows what I would like to order. I love the cornbread with coffee deal. I recently tried their bacon egg and cheese. It was delicious ! The egg was fluffy and the bacon was crispy. My favorite dishes however are the larsens burger and Mac and cheese. The food here is delicious, the service is personal and the prices are amazing.

Larsen’s has superb service, and excellent food. The prices are affordable as well. Whenever in Jersey City I stop by for a breakfast sandwich and an uptown. Everything is prepared fresh to order and the staff are simply delightful. The atmosphere is relaxing and a pleasure to experience. I would recommend without reservation

I have no clue why this place has only 3 stars but let me be the first to tell you to try this place! I was starving and just dropped my boyfriend off to the train station and I wanted breakfast! Let’s be clear, not a breakfast sandwich but Sunday breakfast after church kind of breakfast. In jersey city there aren’t many eatery choices and even fewer breakfast options. So when my GPS located Larsen’s, I was off! When I went inside I was greeted to the tunes of The Temptations and a big grand smile from the person behind the counter. I initially was taking my order to go but between the atmosphere, music, and just the overall cleanliness of the place just made me want to eat in, that and I decided to have a waffle (who wants a cold waffle) and beef bacon (never had beef bacon). I consider myself a waffle snob as I often make waffles from scratch, so when I get a waffle that taste like cake or something of a sweet pastry before the syrup is added I always annoyed (as sugar is not one of the 6 ingredients needed to make waffle batter). Well to my surprise it was an actual homemade waffle! Annnd it was realllllly fluffy yet crisp and the salty crispy beef bacon was the perfect touch to start my day! Next thing up on my I have to try this next time I come list is their nutta butter pancakes.

I ordered and had breakfast delivered from Larsen today. I was off from work today and decided to order from Larsen since I have been hearing mixed things about Larsen. I ordered breakfast for myself and mother through grub hub. The person who answered the phone spoke really low and did not seem too enthusiastic about working there but was able to take my order properly. The person on the phone stated it would take 45 minutes but to my surprise the food was delivered in about 30 minutes. The person who delivered the food was pleasant. The food was very good and fulling. My mother also enjoyed her food very much. I will definitely order and eat at larsens again!!!

One of my favorite go to spots for a home cooked style meal! The salmon patties are EVERYTHING and so is the steak/​egg beeakfast. I also used them for my New Year’s traditional southern meal with black eye peas and corn bread. The portions are GENEROUS! I think I’ll order this morning.

I’ve eaten from here twice. the first time I placed an order in person to go. The food took a while but I was grateful that my chicken was fried fresh. Collard greens were a bit tough and bland but everything else exactly how I liked it.
However I placed an order for breakfast 2 platters thru
and live about 5 blocks away it took 2 hours for delivery. On top of that the food was cold. I guess I should’ve tried some place else from the start when I called and was left on hold for about 5 minutes. The food was ok since I had to reheat my chicken & waffles in the microwave. Not sure if I’d try it again.

This restaurant saved my life this am. EARLY MORNING delivery of breakfast to my office– who could ask for anything more. Happy with the ease of order on EAT24. There was a mix up, my coffee was left behind, but they made a second visit in a short while and I was good to go.
The egg, cheese, with taylor ham and extra egg was perfect! The muffin was toasted and buttered, the eggs good well done and the taylor ham was sliced thin and grilled.

The BLT is big, with ripe tomatoes, fresh lettuce, ample amount of mayo and bacon. There was a huge amount of well done, crispy bacon.
Loved the fresh pickle wedge too.
The red velvet cake has real cream cheese frosting and was moist and delicious. However, I have never heard of strawberries in a red velvet cake. I didn’t care for that.
I would have given them more stars except for the mishap with the coffee but as I said they did correct the error right away and for the strawberries.
The customer service was very good.

Went there for Saturday brunch. I was very impressed with the cheese grits. The deli omelet which consists of pastrami and some other deli meats was actually very good. I was leaning towards the whiting with eggs but the waitress recommended the deli omelet. I’ll still try the whiting with eggs probably next time we go. Sweet tea wasn’t too sweet which is a good thing for me. I’m a diabetic and being Asian I’m always looking for balance in food. I got the sense that the sweet tea had a little something, I think they put grape juice in it. I don’t know, it was still good. Can’t wait to try the rest of the menu. Parking can be interesting.

Feeling lazy on a Sunday morning so I decided to order brunch in. Enter
. Larsen’s must have just signed up recently cause I don’t remember seeing them come up before. The delivery took a little longer than I expected. About 45−50min. But I was still laying around in my PJs so I couldn’t complain too much.
So the food finally arrives. I ordered 2 eggs over-​easy, home-​fries, beef sausage, bottle of OJ and their «home made» banana pudding. The food was pretty cheap so I wasn’t expecting too much. It was as expected. Run of the mill diner fair. But that being said… I’ve had worse. The eggs were actually cooked perfectly – kudos for that. The potatoes were cooked well but didn’t have much flavor. The sausage was a little over cooked but not bad. So lastly, I tried the «homemade» banana pudding – major disappointment. When I think of homemade banana pudding I think of bananas, pudding, whipped cream and Nila wafers. This only had half that – the pudding and wafers. Pudding tasted artificial and the wafers were still crunchy. :(I was pretty upset about this.
Anyway I’ll probably order breakfast/​brunch again on a lazy weekend but I will not be ordering dessert.
