The guys who run the shop are very personable and you’re always greeted when you come in. It’s a modern chill vibe and the coffee is delicious & strong. A little pricy but it’s ok because it’s a small business and they source from other small businesses. It’s nice. Although I like the coffee a lot, I definitely like the staff more. They’ll keep you coming back & make great role models for the community. Ps — the donuts are amazing!

I agree it’s a welcome to have a small intimate quality coffee shop in this mostly desolate area of Jersey City. There is a lot of attention to detail and the staff were most helpful what’s missing is affordability and A way to welcome new patrons into this establishment. The pastries or first rate from Balthazar it’s quite an experience if you can dig deeper into your wallet than what was expected. When I did not appreciate was there were no prices given to the actual pastries and donut behind the glass window. Making it quite uncomfortable to ask how much is the pastry? The donuts are absolutely out of this world but add an exorbitant price four dollars apiece only on Saturday and Sunday from the donut manthat are delivered from New York City. On nice days if the owner has made planter boxes outside to sit on which I thought was a wonderful way to listen to birds chirping instead of listening to the progressive grunge music that’s played inside not to my liking I was hoping for more jazz. One problem play date with almost entirely the whole city of jersey is the fact there is no where to properly secure your cycle I happened to be an added bicycle rider on Nite spring and summer days and there was not one insight. I hope the owner is making intelligent decision to place one in front of his place. Overall they have a business card that get stamped and will issue one free drink once the card reaches 10 I only wish they had a better offer on the 2nd cup of coffee which they have not established a price while dining in. The coffee station to prepare your drink had a nice selection of sugar in the raw honey two with three types of milk although I did not see any soy milk what bothered me was how cramped the area can be if being shared by another customer. One suggestion that might be helpful is the direct sunlight from the windows which makes it awfully hot in the summer months and the glare on your laptop. I’m not so sure when I’ll be back in but I wish the establishment good luck and attracting and keeping this place

Wonderful coffee shop. Excellent staff. They were very polite and welcoming. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because I ordered my beverage and pastry to stay and they did not bring it to my table. I also wasn’t aware that what was on the counter was my order because they didn’t call my name or the name of my beverage. Other than that I will definitely be back. It was extremely CLEAN and the décor had personality. Very tranquil xoxo

Great coffee, great service, great people, what more do you want?! Love that they took a chance opening in this part of the neighborhood, and it’s even better that their coffee, cappuccino and cortado are all amazing! They also have a very nice selection of pastries and bagels for those who need more sustenance! Tip, their cortado comes with 2 shots of espresso normally, we’ve tried 1 and 2 shots, and I personally prefer the 1 shot as the 2 shots are a bit overwhelming. But if you LOVE it strong, go for the regular cortado order! The service is also great, everyone from owner to barista are all just happy to be there and are always available for a chat. Will certainly be driving from our part of JC over just for The Grind Shop!!!

I was pretty excited when I saw a coffee shop opened up down the street form my apartment. Great first experience– loved my iced coffee and the overall vibe of the shop. I stopped in after work so there were limited options in terms of food. I will definitely be stopping in sometime soon in the AM to see what pastries the shop has to offer.

Oh Hello… Hey, Hey You… Hey. I just wanted to say you’re looking very very nice. Very modern and sleek, with your clean lines, minimalist vibe. Sure, sure, the visual is beautiful, but what about the inside… is there substance? Oh yeah, yeah there is. Delicious perfectly crafted latte. I thought I could hang and asked for an extra shot. You gently let me know it already came with four… was I sure? I demurred, took it as you gave it and it was superb. I was still feeling sassy so I asked for a danish but only because you didn’t have any of those much talked about donuts, it was tasty too. Wifi meant I could linger and savor my treats. I did. I left knowing I’d return again and again… I think you did too. Welcome to the neighborhood, we’d been waiting for something awesome… and you’re here.

We drove by here and stopped in. I got a cortado and husband got a drip coffee. I also noticed they sell Doughnut Plant’s pastries here but I didn’t get any. The cortado was good but my layers were not separated they were blended. There was no fancy foam-artwork on top like you would expect a coffee shop like this to at least attempt. Husbands drip coffee was terrible, tasted like water. The place was inviting and the décor is nice. We wouldn’t rush back.

Finally a real Coffee spot in the area. Very clean, and the design concept is both minimal and inviting/comforting. Be sure to ask for a stamp card. Would be great if they offered sandwiches or simple lunch options in the near future for those who are too lazy to go downtown for decent food like myself lol.

Great addition to the neighborhood. Consistent, flavorful coffee. So happy to see prideful business owners and staff making a difference in our community one coffee at a time. Did I mention that their carrot cake is heaven on earth!!! If you live in the neighborhood get a frequent buyer card.

Was in the Lafayette neighborhood cat sitting for friends and was thrilled to find out there is now a proper coffee shop in this transitional neighborhood! The shop is lovely and spotless, the coffee is absolutely delicious, and the staff very friendly and welcoming! What more can you ask for in a local coffee shop?! ABSOLUTELYLOVEIT!!!

I am glad its here, but this will not be my everyday stop for a cup of joe. they do not sell light roast and the prices are not cheap. 2 donuts and two cups of joe came to a little over 10 bucks. Good Luck! This will be my every other month spot.

Great coffee and pastries. Definitely a trailblazer in this Bergen Lafayette part of JC. I wish they’d expand their menu to include more small bites and sandwiches…

In 2 words, great coffee, great people, great vibe! Was in the hood on business and found this gem of a shop. The quality of the coffee, and the chill vibe, made me think I was in Park Slope for a moment. This area in Jersey City is changing, and nothing says it more than a cool spot like Coffee Grind. I will definitely come again, and tell everyone I know about this place.

5 stars because I 100% love their coffee! I always get the iced coffee & my fiancé gets iced americano. I also appreciate the fact that the quality is ALWAYS consistent! The only downside is the neighborhood where the coffee shop is located, but still, we drive there to get our La Colombe coffee!

This is my new favorite coffee spot! I decided to stop by a week or so ago. I didn’t know what I wanted but ended up with a chai latte… AMAZING! It’s not overly sweet, just a bit nutmeggy… I’m obsessed. They also had homemade chocolate chip cookies which I’m so upset that I ate because now I constantly crave them. To top it off, the workers there are super sweet which always makes an experience that much better.

Love what they did with the space, both inside and out. And I give them loads of credit for opening in a neighborhood in need of some small business energy. I don’t live in the neighborhood but make an effort to stop by when I can. I definitely recommend their scallion scones — very good! I had a chai latte and look forward to returning to try the coffee.

Love!!! Super cute place. Great addition to the neighborhood. Very clean, sleek and organized. They have two cute benches outside wrapped around a tree. Haven’t seen that around JC before reminds me of Cali.

I’m so excited for a coffee house in the Bergen Lafayette neighborhood! Its nothing too fancy but what is offered on their limited menu, they do well. Really chill place on communipaw and Pacific. The scones are so savory! The establishment is small but very clean and quiet. I’ll definitely be back.

A brilliant new addition to the Bergen Lafayette section of Jersey City, a few short blocks from Liberty State Park. Very stylish, but warm and inviting. Terrific espresso and I’ll be a regular for sure. Involved on site ownership. I’ll be reporting more as they go from a soft opening into regular business. Just what the neighborhood needs! I forgot to mention they feature La Colombe coffee, both in the drinks they brew as well as bagged beans and La Colombe’s black iced coffee in bottles in the refrigerated case. And I must mention the place is spotless!
