Finally got to visit here in person. The delivery food is great, but when you get it fresh — DAMN. So fresh and tasty, and you can always tell that a spot is legit when all the firemen, cops, and EMTs eat there. I’m not joking here, all three were there in the time it took me to eat my sandwich, haha. Best mozz in JC!

Having been born and raised in an Italian household, you can’t help but acquire a certain standard when it comes to Italian cuisine or any cuisine for that matter. Thank you MaMa! When it comes to the Italian Deli or Salumeria if you will, finding that right spot can be difficult at times. Although there are many choices, to find the ONE that just delivers on all fronts to me is la vita bella! The Mozz Boss is my la vita bella. From conception I watched them grow and they are still growing. From time to time I will stop in and take out an order. I like to see what the specials are and any changes that are being made. The employees are all very friendly and cordial. So today, the snow is falling and the wind is blowing and I’m not attempting to go outside. Time to place an order. This was my 1st delivery order with the Boss so I was curious about how the order would go from the initial phone call, paying over the phone with my credit card to the actual delivery. The phone call went as expected. My order was taken quickly and even though I couldn’t get the total at that moment, I was asked if I could call back in a few min’s for it which was cool because I can hear that they were very busy. I didn’t call back however, as I knew how ever much it was, I was still going to order(duh). Delivery time according to the site is 45 – 60 min. Taking into account that I literally live right down the block from them, my food was delivered within the allotted time. Kudos on that. The delivery person was very very nice. He was friendly, engaging and polite(Hey Boss! Give that guy a raise :)) So my overall delivery order experience was excellent. Now about that food… among the many sandwiches ordered, let’s talk about mine. One of the Mozz Boss’ speciality sandwiches. Chicken cutlet, Prosciutto, grilled eggplant, mozz and red wine vinegar. Can someone say Molto Bene! It was absolutely delish. I’m a sides person too, so of course I had to order the olive medley salad and the marinated mushroom salad to go along with my sandwich. The olive medley was very nice. I love olives so I was happy. However, to my surprise, I did not get the mushroom salad. In it’s place was the marinated artichoke hearts salad. You would think I would be upset by this. Well you my friend are wrong. How did they know I love artichoke heart salad? It was a welcomed surprise. All of the other sandwiches were devoured by my kids and their friends and by the looks of their faces and the silence of their mouths, I’m guessing they feel the same way I do… Great job Mozz Boss! Keep up the good work, the great food and the wonderful service. Mangiare! Ciao for now.

A couple of my friends recommended this deli so I decided to take the leap and experience it myself. During the half hour commute for a late lunch I checked out some of the reviews and tips on Unilocal and wanted to find out what other people had to say. Not to say my friends don’t have palettes, but the reviews reassured me this was going to be a really good lunch! Since I couldn’t make up my mind and it was a couple of us having lunch, I decided to sample a few things for an appetizer. On with the Rice Balls, the Mozz Bites, Mac and Cheese Balls and Jumpy Chips! The Rice Balls came out and a small portion was chopped off exposing the rice. The exposed portion provided a flat surface for a slice of their fresh mozz and tomato sauce. These were so tasty and the mozz was so fresh and it wasn’t salty! The Mozz Bites were INCREDIBLE! Bigger than regular size«bites» or mozz sticks, these should be considered to be mozz logs. These were deep fried until golden brown; not too brown and not too doughy. Keep some napkins handy while munching on these; the cheese is endless! Surprisingly these weren’t salty either. The Mac and Cheese Balls were another great app! Deep fried goodness, with mac and cheese that was not dry and contained small pieces of ham/bacon! Heaven. So at this point you might be asking yourself what are Jumpy Chips. I wish I could shed some light on those but all I can say is that they’re kettle chips seasoned with, what I think, parmesan and Italian seasonings. Different and good. How could I possibly have room for more? I managed to save some room for half of my grilled chicken, fresh mozz, roasted red peppers, balsamic on crispy garlic bread. This was the best take of the sandwich I’ve ever had. The bread was toasted just right; not too dark and it wasn’t soggy from the balsamic they added. I usually skip the balsamic because its usually salty and the restaurant drowns the sandwich in it but today I decided to get it on the side. It was a great addition to the sandwich. A couple of final notes: surprisingly, as I’ve already mentioned, I didn’t find any of this food to be salty. Usually when I choose an Italian deli or restaurant, 9 times out of 10 the food has way too much salt. What do you think? Another note, they have parking on the side of the building so don’t worry about finding a spot on JFK Blvd. Here’s to a great Italian deli, enjoy!

One of the best delis in the area, with plenty of specialty dishes to boot. Sadly, I am a vegetarian so I cannot sample any of their scrumptious-looking chicken cutlet, but surprisingly The Mozz Boss has some very good options for someone with my preferred diet. The roasted eggplant sandwiches are very good… Although it’s not posted on their menu, I usually order a hero with roasted eggplant, fresh mozz, and white wine sauce. I definitely recommend you try it. The appetizers are good, too. Their fried zucchini slices are great; they’re made with a thin-flaky crust(not the traditional deep-fried bleh that is synomous with appetizers) and are lightly seasoned with just a touch of salt. Also their lasagna bites are awesome(just picture deep-fried cubes of lasagna), but you need at least two people per order if you really want to call it an appetizer. I am pretty sure they make and package their own fresh mozz, I will have to order one and will probably eat it in one sitting because its that darn good.

***Review for delivery only*** Ordered from here for lunch via seemless, given the standard 45 – 60 minutes wait for delivery. Reasonable, 60 minutes pass, I’ll give the benefit of the doubt, maybe they’re busy. 90 minutes pass, now I’m hungry and angry(hangry) called them up, tell them I placed an order an hour and a half ago, gentleman told me it will be there«any minute» another 40 minutes pass finally food(cold) arrives. With that being said, my sandwich was delicious, probably would have been better if it wasn’t cold but honestly a solid sandwich. Hopefully they were having an off day but I’ll be hesitant to order from there again.

First, I’ve never been to this establishment I only ordered once through Unilocal based on the great reviews. I ordered the Chicken Cutlet with Prosciutto, Eggplant & Mozzarella and white wine sauce sandwich, which is one of their specialty sandwiches, with the zucchini fries. I thought it was absolutely delicious. I’ve never had a sandwich with that mixture of ingredients and it really meshes well together, The zucchini fries come with marinara sauce and were also very good. I highly recommend trying it. So overall despite them forgetting to put the sun dried tomatoes I requested on it(and I wasn’t going to call and complain just for that, I’m just not that crazy) I’d definitely order again. I think next time I’ll drop in so I can see the place in person.

I’ve only been here once and I admit, I had high expectations that unfortunately were not met. It’s not terrible but it’s not amazing either. But that’s my fault partly. I was expecting something more than the other local italian delis and I guess after a few more visits, my views will change. Onto the food, I had the chicken cutlet, prosciutto, eggplant, mozz, and white wine sandwich. It was an interesting combo which was tasty in spots but I couldn’t get over how hard the bread was. Overtoasted? perhaps but I felt this took away from my enjoying the rest of the ingredients. I think next time I’ll try a cold sandwich.

I ordered delivery from here so I have no idea about what the actual place is like. The delivery took about 40 minutes and my food arrived hot which is a plus. Both the driver and the person who took my order were really nice and pleasant(which sadly is not always the case). The menu has some appetizers, pastas, a bunch of sandwiches(both hot and cold), and of course homemade mozzarella(stuffed or regular). There were many interesting options but I decided to order the Chicken Cutlet with Prosciutto, Eggplant & Mozzarella and white wine sauce sandwich. I was a little apprehensive ordering this as I figured it would either be really tasty or that the various ingredients would not be harmonious and it would be a disaster. Luckily, it turned out to be really delicious. It was a huge sandwich, which makes the $ 10 price tag entirely reasonable. What makes this sandwich work is that all the ingredients are good individually, but better together. The eggplant is really thinly sliced and well seasoned. Since it is so thin, it adds flavor, but isn’t overwhelming. The chicken cutlet was okay on its own but a lot better when combined with the other ingredients. The white wine sauce was great and brought everything together. And as I would hope for a place called The Mozz Boss, the mozzarella was really good. Note that I ate about a fourth of the sandwich and was pretty full so this is definitely something you can either share or have multiple meals. Would definitely get food from here again and I look forward to trying more of their menu, especially the stuffed mozzarella.

This is my standard go-to place when I’m in the mood for REALGOOD food. Fast and friendly service from George. The rest of the guys not so sure. Only drawback and reason for one less star are the prices. I guess that’s what you have to pay for top quality food though.

The food looks and smells fantastic but I will never know because I won’t go back again! Walked in with two fellow coworkers. We were immediately told what special was not available and then ignored for ten minutes. It seemed like they were busy fulfilling phone orders but to not even be acknowledged is just rude. Oh well, I’m certain they don’t need my business.

Excellent sandwiches and nice people! My favorite is the garlic bread, eggplant, mozz, chicken, prosuito, and white wine sauce! Really don’t have too say much more after seeing those ingredients: p and their zucchini fries are tasty too! Their weekend hours are really different from weekdays(they close early). I wish I liked more variety on their menu but what I’ve had from it had all been really good.

We ordered in from here for the first time after hearing great things since they opened. Tried Lasagna bites, sausage Parmesan, and chicken Alfredo today. All were excellent. This will definitely be a frequent occurrence for us.

Their fresh mozzarella is on point. Best tasting fresh Mozz I’ve had in a long time, great texture and flavor. I also had the buffalo shrimp Caesar salad and was pleasantly surprised. Place is very clean, as it should be, being that it’s only been open a few months. Great service and prices are fair considering the quality of food. Will be going back real soon! Would be 5 star if the bread they used for their sandwiches was crispy and not spongy on the verge of stale.

This place just recently opened up in my work area, a gentleman passed by one evening to drop off some menus, if it wasn’t for that I would have never known about the place. I ordered for pick up twice this week already and I was very pleased with the food. I first tried a chicken parm sandwich and I then had a cold cut sandwich on focaccia bread, the prices may seem a little higher than the surrounding competitors but the sandwich size is also larger. I haven’t tried any pasta dishes yet but so far so good and I will add this place as one of my regulars for lunch when I’m at work. If you have not gave then a try yet I would highly recommend to try them out. FYI you do not have to search hours for parking because they do have a parking lot which makes it way more convenient!
