The AP sandwich is delicious; and their fresh ice cream is unbeatable!

I love the food hear! A little unhealthy, but I recommend the Buffalo AP. One of the tastiest things I have ever eaten!

Great little spot in Paulus Hook. Have not had the gelato but picked up lunch and the wraps were both good. The fries could use a little work but overall a good experience. Service was super friendly as well.

$ 3.50 for a single scoop. I’d happily pay it for good or better quality, but that wasn’t the case here. The chocolate had a really weird mouthfeel(like an ice cream recipe I tried once that used evaporated milk) with little chocolate flavor. The vanilla had a chemical flavor that was off putting, but at least I could eat some of it. We threw the chocolate cup away.

Great place for gelato. I also tried the food which is really reasonably priced and taste great. My favorite is the buffalo chicken wrap.

TL: DR Bad customer service, grimey interior, standard ice creams. Customer Service: This is the main reason for the negative review. We were the only people there one warm early summer afternoon. We wanted to sample some delicious flavors before we ordered and the staff person was annoyed that we asked any questions or for a sample and was not kind at all. He made rude facial expressions and was not helpful at all. They seemed tired and maybe despondent! Maybe it’s hard times at Tommy 2 Scoops. Hard times indeed. Atmosphere: We sat inside in the back. There were piles of boxes and furniture and it seemed dimly lit and not very comfortable. It needs some kind of update. It seems like it could have a cool retro feel and was probably nice back in the day but now it’s much grimey. There is a back patio with some benches in the back. That seemed nice and quaint, if you’re a family with children and want a place to eat your ice cream after being personally affronted by a disheartened employee and eat your mediocre iced treat some place where your kid can be a kid and run and poop and be outside! Gelato/Ice cream: It was pretty standard. I’ve had richer flavored ice cream and it wasn’t anything worth writing home about… but what is, with the cost of stamps these days!

Decided to try this place out for two reasons one it had decent Unilocal reviews and two it’s close to my job. Both times that I went the place was empty and both times I ordered their coconut ice cream which was good, price is decent for the area, but the staff is not the friendliest.

I generally don’t write reviews or anything unless it is positive. My husband found this place on Unilocal while we were out and it sounded perfect. Atmosphere: We sat outside and it was somewhat cute. This place is marked as «kid friendly» but the tables are on different levels. So beware if you have tiny ones like that tend to run around. What we ordered: I ordered the southwestern panini, my husband a Santa Fe wrap, and our kids shared the chicken tenders. Everything came with fries. I asked for the«truffle fries“and was told it shouldn’t be on the menu since they don’t make that. Okay fine. Our food: everything came out. We liked the lemonade. The fries were soggy, not fully cooked, and cold. The chicken VERY raw inside. I sent it back. I ate some of my sandwich and felt so disappointed. We received new fries and tenders precut to make sure they were cooked. We barely touched them since at this point the kids were super and wanted to go home. We paid, which honestly I don’t know why, and we left. I started to feel sick last night since I’m the one that bite into the raw chicken to try it. I’m 6 months pregnant. How wonderful, not only did we have a bad experience but now I’m sick. Bottomline: I should have realized most reviews were old and will avoid this place going forward.

We tried four different flavors, none of which disappointed. Can’t wait to go back and enjoy iced coffee or lunch on their cute back patio, too! BYOB option doesn’t sound half bad either.

Gelato, the pizza, and the southwestern chicken pannini were superb! Highly recommend this place.

Great place to eat! I can’t believe I’ve never been here in the 10 months I’ve lived here so far! It’s literally right across the street from me and I just never noticed it. My boyfriend and I came in on Easter Sunday(not knowing it was Easter). We were both starving. We ordered food and gelato. The gelato is delicious — we got the Almond Crunch and the Cookies & Cream. Both were absolutely delicious. Tasted fresh, creamy and they both had some crunch to it. I’d honestly say the gelato is better than what I get at Torico’s. As for food, we originally ordered a BLT and the Southwestern Chicken. The waitress came back and said that she didn’t have bacon, the owner left her without much food on Easter. We both cut her some slack, it was Easter and they probably didn’t expect anyone to come in. She was nice enough to give us onion rings for free to make up for it. The southwester chicken panini was delicious. I need to have it again. Everything was perfect: the bread(I think it was foccacia), the crispy chicken, the oozy melted cheese and the yummy avocado. Portions were pretty good too. She was generous with the onion rings. Overall, I had a really good time and I’ll certainly be back! Food is good, service is good and the ambiance is really nice, especially the open backyard space!

I highly recommend this location for a private kids party or any party! The backyard is huge and beautiful. The gelato is yummy. Talk to the owner Tommy he is super nice, great service.

Seriously underwhelmed. Gelato was mediocre. It had ice crystals and the flavor was bland. Woman behind the counter acted impatient and wasn’t friendly at all. On top of that, the gelato was expensive. The place is cute overall, but it’s not at all the only ice cream/gelato joint in downtown JC now. Torico(!!) and Downtown Frozen Yogurt are both way better.

Not super happy with the service at Tommy Two Scoops recently. A few weeks ago, I ordered on the phone for a pickup. The guy who picked up did not have a whole lot of interest in taking an order. For one, it was 8 pm and when I asked to place the order he said they were closing soon. I asked when and he said 10 pm. O-K…Didn’t make a whole lot of sense, but I placed the order anyway. When my girlfriend went to pick up the order she said the guy behind the counter was very rude to her, and was acting like he did us a favor. I let it slide that time, but maybe I shouldn’t have. I walked in a few days ago and there were a couple people in the back so I know the guy behind the counter was busy. Not even a hello or I’ll be with you in a moment though. I just stood there for 15 minutes, waiting patiently. Not a word from the guy, not even an acknowledgement that I was there. After about another 5 minutes I walked out. I really have no desire to walk in again. It’s a shame a good spot has to be spoiled by unhappy workers with attitude.

Ohhhhh myyyy gelato! This little gem totally know whats up when it comes to gelato. I love the different flavors they have and how gratious they are when it comes to sampling. I’ve visited Tommy a few times now and its always been great service and yummy food. They have a cute little patio in the back where you completely forget where you are. Their paninis are wraps are pretty yummy too!

This review is based on delivery. It took them 75 minutes to deliver my food(walking distance for 7 mins). The food wasn’t what I want since they are out of the pork at 2pm? The bread is dense and hard. The food arrive cold in September? The delivery guy said sorry? Sorry for mess up my food? Never order from this shitty place again.

Maybe the freezer was on the fritz, or maybe it’s just how it is. Either way, I’m never going back. The flavors were interesting, but the gelato was so soupy. I literally was sipping the gelato out of the cup. Since we had taste tested a couple flavors, we felt obligated to order a cup. All 3 cups we had ordered(3 different flavors) were like soup, it was around 85 degrees outside, so it wasn’t like the temperature was boiling and the ice cream had time to melt… ended up throwing the cup out after a few sips.

I came here on a whim recently due to the change in weather. Too full to walk to Torico I went to Tommy Two Scoops. Needing to have my sweet tooth fix I ordered the Oreo and Salted Caramel gelato. I was not impressed, but not disappointed. This was a little bit too sweet and the consistency was very saucy. Thus the 3 star count. I will probably never eat here gelato here again, but there’s a nice outdoor area so they got that going for them.

Stopped in last week just after they re-opened and again this week. Great service and yummy gelato. So many flavors! The staff let me know it was a soft open stage as the finishing touches on the post-Sandy remodel were being done. Sad that I’m moving as this is a great neighborhood spot!

We’ve made it kind of a habit to walk over to Torico after spending time with the puppy at Von Vorst. But I heard about this place, which was actually a closer walk, and is dog-friendly! I love dog-friendly places, and they seem hard to come by in JC, especially after being spoiled by living in California for a few years and how everywhere there is dog-friendly. The counter girl was training so she was a little confused, but she was super nice and doing great. You order up at the front and then you can take a seat anywhere — inside or in their backyard. Their backyard really does look like it could be someones backyard — a grill, a random cooler, mix-matched but cozy. I just adore that it’s dog-friendly. They even have doggy biscuits in the front! We got some lunch. We shared the Triple Play, which is chicken fingers, buffalo chicken and mozzarella sticks. I didn’t have the buffalo chicken but hubby enjoyed it and said they were pretty spicy. I liked the chicken fingers, and I especially liked their honey mustard sauce. Mozzarella sticks are pretty standard, taste like the frozen boxed ones. Hubby got a hot dog as well which he said was good. We both got iced tea. He got raspberry and I got unsweetened. Mine tasted funny, and really watered down. Both iced teas actually didn’t have enough ice in them, making them kind of warm, which was a bummer on such a hot day. I also ordered a bottle of water which I didn’t receive, and when I asked later, turned out they were out! Oh well. We tried ice cream too. I got the Limoncello which I loved. It was delicious, lemony and refreshing. Hubby got Pear which he also liked, but it wasn’t as nice of a texture as mine was. We met Tommy too, and he’s a really nice and personable guy. I liked him. I’m deducting stars for a few things though like the warm iced tea or the fact that their bathroom was really dirty, and was out of paper towel and toilet paper. Could be excusable if they were busy, but we were the only people in there haha. But in general, I loved that it was dog friendly, and the staff were all very nice and helpful. We’ll be back.
