I am rating a 1 star because there is not a rating lower than that. The restaurant was empty and took 3 hours when it should not have. It was a family celebration of 10 people and the waiter seemed as if it was his first day at work. The restaurant has an incredible view but offset by lackluster service with disinterested service. We waited 10 to 15 minutes at the bar for drink service and ultimately realized there was no one interested in serving us. We went to the bar to finally get us drinks. Dinner service was slow and seemed like it timed the $ 10 valet service for 3 hour dinner with $ 25 fee after 3 hour. The waiter was clueless!!! There was a breakfast buffet which basically seemed as if this was what the restaurant is known for… The part that set me off to write this review is that the dinner bill that was the charge for 10 people was divided by 4 credit cards. Acknowledging that a large party dictated a mandatory(18%) tip, the next day my credit card company alerted that an additional 20% tip was added on top of this!!! They also added it for our bar charge. I have alerted my family! My family has been alerted but this practice needs to be made public. I will be filing a complaint to the compare offices as this is horrible.

Have been here a few times for breakfast but today is not the best days to be here! Got to the restaurant at 10:06 and was told we had to wait a few minutes for a table no problem. We were sat about 10:15 so that wasn’t too bad. At 10:30 the server came to ask about drinks dropped that off and never came back another server came at 10:45 to take our order and then after a long wait breakfast was served at 11:10. Not a good start to my day.

The view from here is so amazing it’s hard to complain about the food. I live near there so I have eaten here a few times and have had many of their food items on the main menus. My son and his wife decided to take me there again for Mother’s Day 2016 and only one of us was happy with our meal. The servers were curious to know what the problems were so they could report it to the chef because one meal had to go back and taken off our bill. I know the previous chef exited and went to work at the Food Network so there you have it. We will go there again later. The dirty dirty Martinis with olives stuffed with goat cheese were great but if you want to eat, I suggest a salad or the bar food.

I would actually give this no stars if I could. First, the good… The view is nice and the atmosphere is relaxed. We went here for breakfast after looking at the reviews and the menu. the staff was nice and quick to seat us(there were 4 filled tables when we arrived). The espresso arrived quickly and was good. This is where the good ends. We waited more than 30 minutes for 2 egg dishes. When they arrived, they were cold and the eggs were rubbery with congealed hollandaise on top. The sausages were also cold. We asked if they could be heated up, which they did, but not enough, so when we got our food back the plates were piping hot but the food was only mildly warm. Not to mention that the ham was now dry and raising up at the edges and the eggs and hollandaise were even worse. At this point we asked for our bill and walked out. At least they were nice enough to comp the coffee… With so many places to eat may want to skip this one unless you want coffee with a view and cold food.

5 star for the breathtaking view, but 3 star for the food(so totally i give 3 star), actually this restaurant is within hotel Hyatt Regency Jersey City, there was a bistro just next to it, you can order some drinks and also enjoy the view as well, there is a river side park(J. Owen Grundy Park) beside the hotel, you can enjoy the fantastic Manhattan night view totally freely there!

Great service, fabulous view, mediocre food. I’ve had dinner at Vu twice with friends and the service is always attentive. Come for the view and cocktails, skip the food. For the most recent dinner our appetizer, cocktails and dessert were free. The cocktails were great but Wayne decided to comp them due to the awful appetizer(pork fat with cucumbers and sauce) along with a dreadful carrot cake. 3 of us had steak(okay but not great) and one had a quesadilla. We also had a tres leche type dessert that was tasty. We got a quesadilla at the bar before dinner that was served cold. Definitely try the Azul cocktail. I will go back and work my way through the cocktail menu. Alexander, our waiter, was kind enough to take a few photos for our group.

Had a business dinner here and was pleasantly surprise with how good the food was! I thought I would get over-priced hotel food. Pricing was a tad high — however I had their signature Papardelle bolognese. A super-hearty portion, the pasta was delicious and the meat was nicely done and basically melted in your mouth. Overall a very nice experience!

Vu is exactly what the name suggests — a view. Located at Exchange Place, specifically inside the Hyatt, if you walk through the lobby and past the bar area, you’ll find the dining area and a view of lower Manhattan. My boyfriend took me here for Valentine’s Day. It wasn’t packed at all. I don’t know if it was because it was too cold, hotel restaurants have a negative connotation, Vu is expensive, it was past 8 pm, or a combination of those but there didn’t seem to be a lot of people dining. Now that I’ve gotten the negative aspects out of the way, I’ll move onto the food. To start, we decided to share the seafood cobb salad(Applewood smoked bacon, lump crab, rock shrimp, bay scallops, salmon, tomato, avocado, fried capers, meyer’s lemon vinaigrette). I don’t remember seeing any bay scallops. If there were there, there must have been very little. They did give a good amount of crab meat though but overall, not worth the $ 15, especially since it was just appetizer-sized. For my entrée, I had pappardelle with veal and pork sausage bolognese. Let me start by saying I love pappardelle. I don’t know what it is about it but every time I see it on a menu, my heart just gravitates towards it. I’m glad that this dish did not disappoint. The pasta was al dente and there was a lot of ground veal(although, it could have just been regular ground beef and I couldn’t tell the different to be honest) but not enough sausage. There were probably about two small pieces of sausage. This would have been fine had they not advertised it as such. But not a huge deal. Other than that, I liked it. My boyfriend had some kind of Guinness braised beef, which I wasn’t a fan of. But then again, I don’t like braised meat. I feel like it always comes out dry and flavorless, no matter how much sauce it’s soaked in. He said it was just okay too. We didn’t want dessert because: 1. We were full 2. We were tired 3. Most of the food we ordered wasn’t that amazing so dessert would probably only follow suit As for the service, our waiter wasn’t a ghost but he always seemed to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. When we needed him, he was nowhere to be found. But of course, he would pop up when I had pieces of pappardelle hanging out of my mouth(figuratively, of course — I don’t eat like a pig! Not in public anyway…) I probably wouldn’t come back but it was a nice experience for Valentine’s Day. They even threw in a rose for the ladies at the end of the meal. Just know that if you’re coming to Vu, that’s really all you’re coming for — the view. And not the food.

You come here for the view, and if you are staying at the Hyatt. There is no other reason to come here. We work at the WTC and had to drive to Pittsburgh the next day, so we took the ferry across the river(highly recommend) and stayed at the Hyatt, and decided to dine at the Vu. We requested and received a table by the window with floor to ceiling windows, with an amazing view of downtown Manhattan. The food was terrifyingly bad. I started with the cheese plate, which was 3 very large wedges of cheese with some honey(mine happened to come with a fly in it). I wasn’t sure what my wife’s salad was supposed to be. For the entrée course, I got the pasta Bolognese — brutal. No sauce, just oil. Can’t express that enough, no sauce, just oil and meat. My wife got the strip steak with chimichurri sauce on the side. The steak was cooked OK, but in no world was this chimichurri sauce. It was my wife’s birthday in a couple days, the reason for the trip to Pittsburgh, so they sent out a plate of about 5 – 6 different desserts on the house, with a candle — nice touch. The desserts weren’t great, but they weren’t bad either — more than edible. And we very much appreciated the plate. So they get one star for the service, which was very attentive and we always had what we needed. And only one more star for the view, even though it was amazing, the quality of the food cannot make this a three star place. The check was almost $ 300, even with the view, this was a bit much. We would definitely recommend this place had the food not been so terrible.

Came here for a bday dinner with friends… PROS: Great view of NY skyline particularly Freedom tower at night. Excellent customer service I ordered flank steak and chose chimichurri for the sauce, love it! The chef came out to apologize to two of my friends for not having what they ordered. Server apologized for late dinner for these two friends of mine. We ordered dessert to share… the server came out more dessert than we ordered and other varities of dessert, he said the dessert is on him for the bday celebrants. When the server came out with the bill, he did not bill us with the two late dinner entrees and none of the dessert were billed to amend for the inconvenience even if we did not complain. What a nice surprise! Valet service was fast, have your parking ticker validate and you’ll only pay $ 10 for the parking fee. CONS: Not a lot of food selection(dinner) Food is more expensive compared to other restaurants in the area(paying for the view?) All of my friends who ordered Crispy Pork Belly did not enjoy it, however I tasted it and it was ok with me, that’s me anyway. Will I return? Maybe for the view… There are other restaurants with a view in the same area.

Good views. Mediocre food. Had dinner here with a perfect view of the New York skyline, unfortunately it was accompanied by terrible food and slow service. I ordered the NY Strip rare which came with a baked hockey puck potato and mushy squash. The first round my steak came out medium and very tough. I decided to send it back especially since it was a $ 42 steak. The second time the steak actually came out rare but they had forgotten the side sauces I had previously ordered and the potato and squash were still terrible. The service was okay, there were some parts of the dinner where our waiter was nowhere to be found. The kitchen was extremely slow, with wait time being about 20 minutes between meals. I even had to wait about 15 minutes for my RARE steak, it was pretty ridiculous. The restaurant was pretty empty on a Saturday night with ample seating available, which should have been a clear indication of the restaurant’s reputation. I cannot account for any of the alcoholic beverages, just that they were pricey like the rest of the menu. The 2 stars are for the views of Manhattan only, which you can find at many of the other restaurants around Jersey City that have far better food.

The view is great but it isn’t something you can’t see for free after eating on Newark ave. The food is just terrible. No flavor. Only good food item was the french fries. Also on a positive note the bartender was fantastic. He can make a fantastic old fashioned and a real good Manhattan.

I am staying at the hotel so I ate dinner there tonight. The view was amazing, and the décor was fine. However, the menu was very limited. I chose the Salmon with the lemon sauce along with potatoes and carrots. First the salmon was half the normal size. Second the skin was left on but looked like it had been blackened. And the salmon was flavorless. The carrots were basically flavorless, and the Yukon potato was just half a poorly cooked potato. The wait staff was interesting, and the tomato salad was disgusting. Overall I wouldn’t recommend Vu to anyone, and if your staying at the hotel the menu for room service is the same menu as the restaurant.

What a view! Sadly, that’s the only positive thing I can say about Vu. I came here on a Sunday night with five other people. The restaurant was pretty empty and the waiter sat us at a window with excellent views of Lower Manhattan. However, he took way too long to return to take our order and the food came out nearly an hour after we had ordered it. Although I do not recall exactly what I ordered, I clearly remember thinking«This is so disappointing». Given that I visited over two years ago, maybe management has improved Vu, but for nearly 60 dollars a head, I do not think I will return because mistakes like this just cannot happen for restaurants of this caliber.

This place seems to think the view makes up for appalling service and food. My family was very excited to end our New York vacation with a nice dinner. Vu was hand-picked by our daughter and we built it up in our minds to be something special. We were one of three tables on a Saturday night(which should have told us something), but still waited 20 minutes for our waiter — who claimed everything was ‘crazy’. Requests for bread refills while we waited were met with several curt ‘it’s coming” brush-offs while water glasses went unfilled. 40 minutes after ordering(we were timing by this point) our food arrived — or should I say *some* of it. My son was told the kitchen was out of turkey(!) for his sandwich, two of our entrees were brought out late enough that the first ones had begun to get cold, several sides were never delivered. My $ 40 steak was served on a bed of dry greens — no sides, no dressing, no sauce. The waiter acted like he was doing me a favor when I asked him for the things it was missing, yet ten minutes later they still hadn’t arrived. Since our waiter had disappeared I went to seek the manager, who busied himself with several cash register related issues before responding to me. But no apologies or attempts to make things right. Simply ‘I will inform the kitchen.’ The waiter was sent to collect my plate with its uneaten steak. The bill included at least two items that had never been delivered and full price for everything. My family left heartbroken and hungry. The view of Lower Manhattan was awesome, but the *Vu* was pathetic.

Despite living in Central Jersey, I often find myself having to spend a night or two at the Hyatt Jersey City. Located just two blocks from my office, it’s a convenient place to crash after a late night doing whatever it is I happen to be doing. And when I am there, I will inevitably wind up at Vu, if only to knock back a couple of Jameson rocks with my colleagues and friends. The bartenders here do an incredibly generous pour that is perfect for quickly shifting me out of work mode and into fun mode. And the view(no pun intended) is without a doubt, an awesome one. As for the food, it could certainly be worse. Any business traveler knows that most hotel restaurants are nothing to write home about. And if you are staying at the Hyatt from out of town, you should really get out of the hotel and start exploring some of the great food that Jersey City has to offer. Knowing that is not always possible if you’re on a tight schedule, you should get by fine at Vu. Safe bets include the crab cakes, their Caesar salad, and the pan-roasted half chicken. And believe it or not, they have several Vegan options as well. Ultimately though, the best use of Vu is gathering with others in the bar, finding a nice, cozy seat looking out over the Hudson, and kicking back with a nice martini or glass of wine. For that, it is perfect.

We had and okay experience. For the price, I would say it’s worth looking into better food options though. The view is amazing. The service is slow(and it wasn’t busy on a Sunday night from 7−9pm). Took a long time to get our check. I ordered the filet mignon w/mashed potatoes and mushrooms. I asked the server taking our order to leave out the mushrooms but mentioned that they are just a garnish on top and can easily be taken off… I said ok. When that plate arrived, it didn’t have mushrooms on top as mentioned but rather all on top of mashed potatoes and the filet sat on top of that. They were even whole pieces that were easy to pick off and it ruined the mashed potatoes for me… didn’t eat them as mushrooms and sauce wee smashed into them. I ordered my kids a steak meal and chicken meal off the kids menu. Both were supposed to be served w/potatoes but both ended up w/Brussel Sprouts. That totally ruined the meal for my little one or the fact that the grilled chicken was really bland. I wish it was a roasted chicken that was juicier and more flavorful. The steak was good and the kids shared it. When our main sever came back to table she noticed that I took the Brussel sprouts off one of the plates and commented/questioned that they didn’t bring out the potatoes and went back to kitchen for correction. They must not have had any b/c she came back w/mashed potatoes. Only thing is that it was mashed skins… not your typical favorite for kids. So, naturally they didn’t eat it. My husband ordered swordfish and said it was dry(said it was a «6» on scale of 1 – 10). We had desserts and coffees and they were good. I had chocolate mousse cake. it was super rich but good, the kids had ice cream(can’t go wrong there), and hubby had carrot cake and said it was good. I had a cappuccino which tasted good but it didn’t look like I’m used too w/any design or cinnamon on top… it was completely plain and white in an opaque mug. Based on the review average vs. prices I might have opted to go somewhere else but we were staying in the hotel and it was cold and rainy out. We chose convenience over quality.

The view at Vu really is amazing!!! I was in Secaucus, New Jersey for business and my sales manager decided to treat us to a nice dinner. At first I thought we were heading to Manhattan, but then I realized we were in Jersey City. My disappointment washed away when I saw the breathtaking view of Manhattan before us. We managed to get a table on a Monday night without a reservation. The hostess was so nice and allowed us to choose the best available table. The restaurant is lined with windows so you can get a nice view of the city at most tables. We started off our meal with a bottle of Cabernet and some of the best crab cakes I have ever had. For my entrée I went with the Grilled Beef Tenderloin with brûléed tomato butter. The waiter allowed me to swap the sides with the Rib-eye because I really wanted the couscous and heirloom tomato salad instead of the mushrooms and hearts of palm salad.(I’m not a fan of mushrooms.) We also got a side dish of Sautéed Garlic Spinach for the table to split. The food was absolutely heavenly! My steak was a perfect medium rare and the brûléed tomato butter made the steak sinfully good. My coworkers enjoyed their rib-eyes as well. Dessert sounded great, but I couldn’t have possibly ate another bite. Our view did come at a price. Expect to pay about $ 100 per person if you are ordering drinks.(Worth every penny!!!)
