This place is wonderful. It is authentic, fresh and vibrant. My husband is Iranian and his father makes the most delicious middle eastern food but lives far away so we eat here to get our fix. There isn’t anything I have tried so far that I wouldn’t recommend. The tzatziki has a delightful hint of fresh mint, the gyro is delicious with a robust flavor of lamb and the Turkish coffee make the perfect end to a wonderful meal. The service is also on point. A lovely Turkish couple owns the place and they always remember us as make a point to ask about our son as they have a son his age as well. I hope this was a helpful review and that it inspires you to try this amazing family-owned restaurant.

The food is amazing and the staff is always so pleasant to interact with. The food tastes authentic and it’s always made in a timely matter. The owners are also fabulous people who I look forward to seeing every time I go. My family and I come so often they know us by name which just solidifies how much they care about their customers. It is definitely my favorite restaurant in Johnson City.

Many vegetarian and vegan options. The salad was crisp and included several ingredients. The vegetable stew was amazing! Fresh made with fresh veggie – with rice – more like a soup base though with large stew sized chunks of veggies. A protein such as chickpeas in the stew or hummus on the side(or felafel or.) would have been welcome however since it is an entrée. Server despite being overworked was attentive given how many tables covered.. At lunch I would like see more options –mostly gyros for the lunch specials. Lunch size small appetizer might work. The price difference of $.99 for baba ganoush as a sub for another side at lunch vs appetizer price of $ 6 is striking. I was not allowed to pay more for baba ganoush with my stew –it was not a lunch special – instead of salad that came with it – I would have gladly paid $ 3 more as a substitute for the salad but not for $ 6 appetizer on top. At lunch a smaller size portion for a side for less money would be quite welcome. I will be back.

Great locally owned eatery. The food is fantastic. The owners are very friendly and personable. The Dolma and Gyro are fantastic. Unfortunately I have only been able to make it for lunch but the dinner menu looks equally impressive.

Wonderful, fresh food in a fun atmosphere served by friendly people. From the moment you arrive, you know you are welcome. If you want a good gyro, they have the best in this area. The hummus, like everything else, is fresh made on site. All the vegetables in the salads are fresh and crisp. The menu offers a variety of foods to choose from for meat lovers and vegetarians. I have brought very picky eaters here to dine with me and they’ve come away satisified.

All the food here is excellent. Don’t let the location fool you. It’s a great place to eat with good service. Adana kabobs and jalapeño humus are delicious.

Not authentic at all. Moussaka had an inch of oil on the bottom of your plate! Falafels were the size of large marbles and not at all authentic. Surprised the cooks are true Mediterraneans!

My coworker and I both had chicken gyros with a yogurt sauce. You can also get lamb or beef on your gyros. We decided to try a couple dessert so we split a piece of baklava — it was awesome! We also tried Mediterranean Garden’s rice pudding. Flavor-wise, it was perfect. We both found it a bit too runny, but enjoyed it nonetheless. If you’re looking to branch out with foods or are just missing a great Mediterranean restaurant, Mediterranean Garden is the place to go!

I’ve been here about 4 times now and have had a good experience every time. When Shengle is working the front I always feel welcome and well taken care of. She does eggplant really well.(she probably knows who this is now) The baba ganoush is unique and yummy; the sliced and roasted eggplant appetizer is a favorite. The hummus is good and the tabouleh is real tabouleh instead of that all bulgur rot I usually find elsewhere, if I find it at all. Falafel are not great but passable. Chicken kabob had good flavor and was tender though I did wish it was a little bigger for the price. I like the texture of the pita they serve, though I wish sometimes it was the kind with the pocket so I could scoop more of my food up with it instead of using my fork. The flan/chocolate cake is a perfect finish. All around this place is as good as the better Mediterranean places I’ve been to in big urban areas. Johnson City needs more places offering good tasting healthy food.

I had the masaka and it was very good! IT had the right amount of meat and eggplant and sauce. AND… they gave exactly the right amount of rice! Some places pack your plate in with rice so they can give you less food — but not here. The space was a bit weird, we were sitting in what looked like a converted lobby space. So we were able to see inside people’s windows and whoever was walking through the lobby. However, in this area, this is the best spot you can get Mediterranean food. I believe they are Turkish. It was yummy and if I’m in the area again, I would come here for a plate of goodness.

The service could not have been better. Hummus and falafel were excellent and gyro was the best I have had in the tri cities. Obviously a hidden gem in Johnson City. I am normally a tough critic, but we will certainly be back to this place soon. Thanks for a great lunch!

I was in Johnson City on business and looking for a good place to eat. Checked out Unilocal and saw all the rave reviews for this restaurant. All these other reviewers must have been starving to death causing them to lose their minds and taste buds to think this is good Mediterranean food. ITISNOWHERENEARAUTHENTIC Greek or Turkish food. The Greek salad I was served was mostly iceberg lettuce with thin strips of green pepper, a canned black olive(not Kalamata) maybe a couple of small pieces of tomato with this golden colored dressing looking much like cheap Italian dressing right from the jug! WTH! That my friends is not a Greek salad. YUK! Then my entrée was the veggie mussaka(their spelling). It was chunks of eggplant swimming in a half inch of grease with about a quarter pound of mozzarella cheese melted on top. It wasn’t even seasoned well or at all. I could not eat the food. I sent it back and left the restaurant. And I was so hungry too! On top of this sorry food was the very slow and unprofessional service. One waiter had every table in the room — totally overwhelming him. I can’t believe there was no one around to help him out a bit. I had to wait a long time for him to come back to my table after serving me. If you know what truly delicious Mediterranean food tastes like, don’t go here, you will be so sorely disappointed!

This is the BEST Mediterranean/Turkish restaurant ever!!! The ezme was to die for. We split musakka, which was an ample portion. Our server was very attentive and helpful with menu selections. We loved the rice pudding; it was light and creamy.

Incredible place. Delicious menu and festival atmosphere. The pita bread is my favorite. The service was some of the best I have seen in JC. Plan to take friends as often as possible.
