I just made a Unilocal account just so I could write this review. On May 28,20014 I pulled into the parking lot and through the window I could see a customer at the desk wanting to tan, this made me relieved. Why the relief, you ask? It was 8:44pm and they close at 9pm. I would never do this to a restaurant, because I have always worked in one and I know what goes into the closing process and how much those last minute customers suck. I have also worked(10 years ago) in a tanning saloon, so I know what goes into the closing process there. If I want to go tanning at 8:55 the employee only has to stay an extra 15 – 16 mins tops. Not like in the restaurant where it can be anywhere to 30 minutes to an hour and a half. Anyways, I was relieved to see someone else had decided to tan at this time too, but I still felt bad walking in, Here is what happened when I got out of my car. The young girl behind the desk stared me down while I was walking in, I could practically hear her thoughts,“You have got to be kidding me, does this chick not know what frigging time it is?!”(I am guilty of these thoughts while working too). When I opened the door I was not greeted with a warm smile, or a hello. Instead I got, «Last name?» and not even a glance up at me. Whatever, I thought, shes young, she has not yet mastered the skill of proper customer service. Instead of giving my last name I responded with a smile and said«I’m sorry I had to come at this time to tan», she replies with«What?» «Well you close at — –„9 O’CLOCK“. Before I can even finish my apology to show her that 1. I do feel bad and I am not some jerk and 2. This was the only time I was able to go between now and Saturday, she rudely interrupts me and tells me the time they close. I say nothing and tell her I want a single visit(I was planning on purchasing a months membership but I didn’t want her to receive the credit for it) and handed her my debit card. When she handed me the slip and pen, I was adjusting my wallet, keys, and cellphone out of my hand to sign the receipt and she once again rudely says „You need to sign that“ to which I reply „I know“. I am not some idiot and if she wasn’t so busy being upset that I came in so late she would have noticed all the stuff in my writing hand. After I signed I told her she needs to learn better customer service and put a smile on her face. Let me add that I have worked with the public for 14 years, and I am guilty of displaying this type of attitude, even if I don’t mean to physically show it, but whenever(which there have been a couple of times) a customer would say something like that to me I would immediately go into sorry mode and try to correct the entire situation because bad customer service is bad for business. Instead of doing that this girl starts questioning what I am talking about and states shes „tired“. Yeah me too kid, I just worked a 12 hour shift. After my tanning session(which also sucked because the booth was cold so she put me in a both that hadn’t been running a lot and the music was so low I couldn’t make out what song was playing) I was walking to the exit and this employee was on her cellphone at the desk. She didn’t bother saying „good night“ or „thanks for coming“ or ‘see you soon», which is what you expect to hear. I even glanced back at her and made eye contact before walking out the door and still didn’t even get a smile or wave. This kind of behavior from an employee is unacceptable no matter what the situation is. Not only did she make one of the owner’s customer unhappy, she let the company lose out on money because I didn’t purchase the months membership like I had planned to. I gave this tanning saloon 2 stars because of this interaction tonight and also for the music volume situation which is an often occurrence at this location. Even though I hated that I couldn’t jam out while I tanning there, I still went because it is the closest tanning saloon near my house. After tonight I have no problem driving the extra 4 minutes to another tanning saloon that has louder music and friendly staff.

Best tanning salon I’ve been too. This location is smaller with fewer booths than the other locations but that doesn’t matter at all. The beds are great and they change their bulbs frequently. You get a great tan even your first time. They have a great staff of girls who are friendly and accommodating. Best tanning salon in RI hands down.

They are very clean. That was my #1 thing when I walked in. The young lady at the counter was very nice and professional. I have really nothing bad to say about this tanning salon. I appreciated their services and product knowledge.
