We go here when mama doesn’t feel like cooking breakfast. We only order skillets as neither my husband or I were impressed with the corned beef hash(look like it was out of a can) or their pancakes(my oldest daughter loves them). They give you plenty of food and hot coffee(nothing over the top) and the service is great.

Very good pancakes. Server was snarky, kind of like Flo from the old TV show Alice, but not in a bad way. The ham was very salty. I’d go back.

Seated promptly. But Front of house kind of disorganized. When you walk in the door, they walk up to you and ask your name. No uniform line. Probably because of how close it is to the door. However. The food is what disappointed me the most. Went here on a Sunday morning for breakfast and everything we ordered was burnt. Seeing that we were sitting by the kitchen, we knew what kind of environment the cooks were in so we didn’t even bother to complain. Definitely won’t be coming back here again. If you want to eat some great breakfast, go to Big Apple down the street, service is better and the food is 10 times better.

Another childhood favorite! My mom actually used to be a waitress here, and we would visit monthly! Anything owned by Greeks is bound to be a success ;) The food was always tasty, filling and reasonably priced! The employees treat you like family and they have piiiiiieeeeeee!

Can we give a 5+? Food is fresh, perfectly cooked and lots of choices. I had potato pancakes with poached eggs and substituted fruit for the hasbrowns, awesome bowl with fresh strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, melons, and bananas. My husbands meal was flavorful and cooked perfectly as well. Good coffee good service, my only complaint is that it’s a three hour drive from home or they’d know my name!

My coworker and I were not impressed with our breakfast combos. I had 2 eggs, hash browns, and buttermilk pancakes: the pancakes were the bready kind that taste like Bisquick mix and absorb all your syrup and still make your mouth feel dried out, while the hash browns weren’t crispy at all and didn’t taste like much. On the bright side, it was very cheap(less than $ 6 for my meal).

Always great food. Pancakes and waffles are fantastic and they have a variety of flavors. Menu is pretty extensive, although it is also a bit expensive. I can’t afford to go here all the time but it’s definitely a treat when I do.

This is the only place we go for breakfast in the area. I have never had a bad meal and they always indulge me in my custom breakfast order request! It is efficiently run and always quick!

Best breakfast in the Joliet area! Huge food portions you will most likely be able to take some home with you. Whether it’s breakfast lunch or dinner the Old Fashioned Pancake House is on top of their game. Friendly staff and a family owned business. The Old Fashioned Pancake house shows up any other family style restaurant in the area. Takes over the phone and walk in carry out orders. Takes reservations and is great for families.

Love this place and have been eating there for over 20 years. The breakfast is top notch and there are lots of items to choose from. I personally love the skillets, I go Poirot skillet most times. The cakes and pies are also very hard to pass up as well even after stuffing down the last of that big breakfast.

Really love the bacon waffle. Man that thing is dynamite. Breakfast they do well. The lunch/dinner thing not so much. Some of the waitress’ can be quite«crusty» to say the least but I don’t let them get to me too much. Sausage links were cold as was the ham BUT that waffle is everything !

Food was good. Our waitress sucked. Looked like lint was in the ice cube in the ice water.

The fiancé and I were in the area and starving. So I found this breakfast place and it has pretty good overall reviews. So I suggest we try it out. The place has a nice very similar pancake house feel. The lady doing the seating seemed lost. She asked if we wanted a booth, I said yes. She then walked away from us, not saying anything. She then, called us over to a booth like we were dogs and had an attitude bc we didn’t follow her. I’m used to the person seating me say things like«right this way» or «follow me.» Not just walking off and then getting upset bc we didn’t know what was going on. We sat, I was stunned by the lack of breakfast options at a breakfast place. So I ordered a simple sausage omelet. Well, I later figured out they gave us the dinner menu and not the breakfast menu. How do you give 2 people a dinner menu at 830am?! I mentioned this to the waitress after we got our food and figured out there were different menus. She just gave a small laugh like it’s not a big deal. Well actually it is. Bc I would have liked a corned beef skillet. Again, the waitress had a «why are you bothering me» attitude. Long story short, the food was actually pretty good. That is the only thing saving them from a lower rating. I would order take out from here. The experience I had with the people who work there was not pleasant. I doubt I will ever dine in again.

Ring in the new year with food, friends, and a little money in your pocket! Well, that was our intent when we stop into the OFPH for our New Year’s Day brunch… There were 12 of us and they weren’t that busy when we arrived, so we figured we would be ok. Our waitress got about halfway around our table when she said that she had food up and that she needed to go take it to her table. No big, we can wait. Well, I watched her and she put in the orders for the first half of our table instead… When she came back she had soup and bread for people already! The owner could have told her to do it, but it turned out terrible for our table… The first group’s orders came out really quick. Ours… Came out over 45 min after… Not only were the first group done eating, they were ready to pay and leave. Some of us were eating off their plates because we were starving. Other smaller parties had come in, sat, ordered, and gotten their food before us! I ordered the 2X2X2 with a biscuit and side of gravy instead of toast. When my food came out, I got a full order of biscuits and gravy and the hashbrowns were WAY over cooked. It turns out that the waitress entered them in to be cooked as extra crispy. When I told the waitress about it she offered to have the potatoes recooked. I told her we didn’t have time to wait for it. Of course, she didn’t offer to credit us for her own mistake. The boy ordered the Strip with Eggs. He said that steak wasn’t very tasty as if it wasn’t seasoned at all. For the others in the second group who had to wait so long for our food: — 1 steak was way over cooked — ordered med-rare and received well-done — 1 steak didn’t come our with our food. They forgot to make it, so she just asked to have it put it put in a to go box — 1 person asked for a half order of crepes and was given a full order. She wasn’t given a credit on the waitresses mistake either Like I stated earlier… This place wasn’t that busy when we got there. There was no reason for them to break up our orders and treat us differently than any other table. They also should have taken responsibility for the mistake that were made!

Three of us went for a Saturday evening dinner. Two are repeat customers. It was my first time. I thought it was an excellent dinner experience. The menu is huge. Our table had the pepper steak special, vegetable stir fry and I had the chicken marsala. Our ala-carte entrees came with soup or salad and our choice from the dessert display. More about the dessert display in a minute. Broccoli and cheddar cheese soup was great. Perfect temperature. Service was very friendly and very prompt. Our entrees came out quickly. And they were all steaming hot. We all liked our entrees. The choices for our dessert were phenomenal. Let me think if I can remember all of the choices in the dessert case. Double chocolate cake, German chocolate cake, red velvet cake, chocolate mousse cake, confetti cake, carrot cake, pecan pie, lemon cream pie, lemon meringue pie, caramel cream pie, apple pie, brownies, eclairs, pumpkin bars, plain cheesecake, cheesecake with strawberries, oreo cheesecake. I’ll suggest that we go back to Old Fashioned Pancake House Restaurant the next time I am in Joliet.

On an already stressful morning, breakfast would have been ruined if not for Old Fashioned Pancake House. My brother and I were heading to the Chicago Tough Mudder on this particular morning. Tension was high and I hadn’t had coffee. To keep it simple we stopped at a chain joint and sat for at least five minutes without even being asked what we wanted to drink. That’s an eternity in No-Coffee time. Frustrated, we left. Enter OFPH. We sat down and within seconds had coffee. Score! Now I could happily flip through the menu, which was not lacking in delicious breakfast choices. I went with the Acapulco omelet: Chicken breast, broccoli, mushrooms, onions, avocado and cheddar cheese. It also comes with sour cream and salsa on the side. I also got the home fried potatoes. The food was awesome and the portions huge. The potatoes were real, not the frozen, out of the bag stuff. The omelet was a little over cooked for my liking, but with the sour cream and salsa added, it tasted good. The service was spot on, my cup never raneth empty. This is the best breakfast place I’ve visited in a while, and I loved the small town, old skool vibe here. Just FYI, they also have a dessert case with pies and other ridiculously beckoning treats. If we were staying in Joliet another night that case would have been missing a few items.
