Family and I shared a Denver Omelet, Biscuits & Gravy and an Apple Pancake. I really value good food and considered the food we had at Big Apple to be very good. The service was good also. Be aware the Apple Pancake takes approx. 40 minutes to cook but it was well worth the wait. I recommend Big Apple — I think you’ll like it.

My husband and I have been here before for breakfast. We always had a good experience here. So, today we stopped for lunch. My husband got a tuna melt and I got a roast beef wrap both came with waffle fries. It wasn’t the flavor we were expecting. The soup and waffle fried were awesome. Our waitress was very attentive and professional. I guess for me the food was bland. Not many gluten-free choices either. Overall a good place to eat.

Drove into town for a funeral and afterwards lunch was at Big Apple with our family and friends — there were at least 40 people in our party. We really could not have been any happier with the service all the way around from the time we walked in until we left. We know that a party of that size can stress out even the most experienced wait staff but they handled our visit with ease and made a very difficult day a little brighter. Every meal we ordered was correct and despite the size of our party we did not have a lengthy wait. Not one bad thing to say about the quality of food and it can definitely be described as comfort food. After the meal we had heaping plates of fruit for each table and every bit of it was fresh, cold and delicious. Definitely a great spot to visit if you live in Joliet or are just passing through!

This is my favorite breakfast spot in the area! I come here every Saturday. I love their biscuits and gravy! They got a kick too them too! I’ve tried their crepes, pancakes, skillets, and hash browns. Nothing disappointed me. The crepes are plain but that’s how I like them! The service is always great. It can be busy so going after 10 am always helps.

Breakfast was decent. Very large portions. Gravy skillet was not good, but pancakes were great. Did not accept 10% Unilocal coupon. Said«this is not for us»

My fiancé and I stopped in while we were having our winter tires put on next door. The place is big and there was no wait on a Saturday morning and our choice of booth or table. The place was bustling with families and groups of grandmas. I saw there was a check-in coupon through Unilocal, but they would not take it unless it was printed. A little strange, but not a huge deal. The coffee was good and the waitress was just attentive enough to neither neglect nor irritate. We ordered a croissant breakfast sandwich and corn beef hash and eggs. The food came very fast and was hot. The breakfast sandwich was very tasty as were the eggs and hashbrowns. The corned beef hash, though not terrible, was fried up from a can I think. Overall, not bad. I thought it was just a teeny bit pricey for breakfast fair, but not expensive by any means.

Everything was great. Service was fast and friendly. I had the turkey sausage omelette which I loved and the pancakes were great:) The only thing I would change is adding onions to my hashbrowns.

The place is clean and not crowded, the server is friendly but the food is lacking. I had the cinnamon apple waffle and for a place called The Big Apple Pancake House the«apples» are just cold canned apple pie filling. Almost no flavor at all and my girlfriend said the exact same about the cinnamon apple raisin french toast, that has no raisins. Also be warned, if you ask for juice of any kind they have to grow thr fruit first so settle in for a wait. I wont be comming back.

I have only one complaint The Owner doesn’t want the toast buttered really? Every restaurant butters your toast unless you ask them for it dry. I don’t want to butter my toast cold hello are you paying for my breakfast OWNER? NO so until he does butter the toast if the paying customer wants it buttered. I have heard no good things about this guy anyway.

Excellent food, generous portions and they took a reservation for a party of 9. The owner sent over a complimentary fruit plate that was delicious and unexpected. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered!

Service was great. Food was meh. My omelette was nice and fluffy and had lots of cheese but it lacked flavor. Same with the hash browns. The only reason I found myself here was because I was getting work done on my tires at Discount Tire and was hungry and had time to kill.

Went back after a couple month hiatus. They have a lot of New Stuff on the menu. Ordered the skirt steak and eggs– They asked me how I wanted it cooked(medium) but they might as well given me a burnt piece or rubber. It was so tough and the meat tasted older and older as I got to the middle. The service was also unbelievably bad for a slower Sunday afternoon. The pancakes are their saving grace– those are still great and fluffy.

Im a fan, and so are so many others… Weekends, there is a wait to be seated. Never had a problem with the food or servers. Will be back

Waste of time and money for breakfast. Portions were not big at all. Poor quality. Also ordered a chicken wrap to go via on my lunch which was also a waste of $ 10.00 bucks… will not return to this hole in the wall ever again

I had an egg white feta spinach omelet for 13 $. Way to pricey for a breakfast place. It was good but my friend got the lentil soup that was way too salty. Service was good though and fast.

If you love eating a LOT of food then this is the place for you! Great club sandwiches, egg skillets and fries. The servers are always coming around refilling your coffee and they always have enough cream. The banana bread was really good and moist. Great place to spend a Sunday morning!

I wish the quality of the food was a bigger concern than the size of the portions. I giant plate of poor quality food is just that — a poor quality plate. I can cook ½ as much for a ¼ of the price at home, with 4x the quality. So why go out and visit this restaurant.

I finally made my way into Big Apple Pancake house. Big Apple closed at like 3pm, and I never feel like waking up early to get in for breakfast. Well my quest to stop eating at night had me awake bright and early the next day #Starving. I was ready to cut a bitch! I woke up craving pancakes so off to Big Apple I went. The inside of this restaurant looked awesome. This particular building years ago was a family restaurant called the family table for years, but in recent years they’ve changed owners and been different concepts.(Chinese buffet being one.) I think the Big Apple owners did a nice job renovating the place. Anywho I went for the peach pancakes. The presentation was horrendous. My peach pancakes just looked like they opened a can of sliced peaches and dumped them right on top of pancakes. Maybe I’m just used to other places topping them with whip cream or at least having the fruit being warm? Nope I got cold peaches on top of pancakes. I didn’t really think the pancake itself was anything spectacular. For $ 7 this dish really missed the mark with me. I will go back and try something else, but for now I’m not impressed at all.

I don’t have better words than meh… I ordered the banana bread french toast and my boyfriend got pancakes with strawberries. My banana bread french toast was less than impressive… it was edible yes, but it was just… there. It was pretty dry… and I couldn’t even finish half of the dish My boyfriends pancakes were also not impressive… soft but almost mooshy. They looked sad… If I am ever in Joliet again, I will be looking for another breakfast place

This restaurant is in my hometown, so before visiting my family I decided to stop in and get a bite to eat. The place is pretty large and I was seated immediately, something I wasn’t used to living in Chicago. The servers were straight out of a movie, very kind but not afraid to make fun of you. I tried looking for vegetarian options but they were very slim. My vegetable omelet was extremely average. The veggies didn’t taste fresh at all. The best thing was the swiss cheese. The pancakes made up for the omelet. Sweet and flat, just what I expected from a diner. In Joliet, it’s a welcome change from chain breakfast spots, but the food is very average, not too impressed. I tried using a Unilocal coupon with the manager and he refused, stating we do not take coupons, even though the business clearly promoted the deal. After 5 minutes of explaining what a mobile coupon was, he eventually accepted the offer. Aside from the occasional rude service, it’s a decent diner in Joliet. Nothing special, but fills the desire when you have a taste for sweet pancakes!
