Glad they finally opened up a restaurant in the southwest suburbs, now I don’t have to drive all the way into the city for the good stuff. Not a great location in Joliet, but it beats some of the other locations they have. I’ve gotta say, the food here is pretty good(not quite as good as the original on 26th street in Chicago) and the prices aren’t that bad. You get a decent sized taco for the money here, so you won’t leave hungry. Service is great the waiters and waitresses are very personable and I’ve never had to wait more than 2 minutes to order. The food always comes quickly after ordering, and it’s hot and fresh. If you are on a taco hunt, this is your destination, you won’t be disappointed. Another great menu item are the drinks, Horchata and Liquados are definitely on point. One thing you need to remember is the cash, they don’t accept cards, although there is an ATM machine on premise.

Place is always clean, fast and friendly. More importantly the food and drinks are always awesome. Would be nice if they took credit but if you have cash on hand there is no better place in the area.

Little corn tortilla tacos. Seems like they’re kind of the same everywhere. Nothing against this place specifically, but I’ve come to the conclusion it’s just not my thing. This place seems ‘authentic’ for whatever that’s worth, and the ingredients seemed good quality. Didn’t love any of the tacos, but not bad. Rice and beans were really good. And its super cheap. Crowded and loud on a Sunday evening, so they’re doing something right.

Decent little place. Some tables for sit down eating. Your typical Atotonilco type restaurant but I must say that the Atotonilco restaurants in the city are a little better tasting than this location. I have only eaten at this location one time so take that with a grain of salt. Still a solid location if you’re in Joliet.

Best tacos I’ve had in a while. I had chicken, steak, and tongue. I had all of my tacos with cilantro and onion instead of lettuce and tomato. It was perfect. I will definitely be back the next time I drive through Joliet.

Great tacos I ordered the steak, tongue, and pastor. The tongue was definitely the best, tender and flavorful. They came with cilantro onion and lime I believe. Plus the give you sauce to add. I also got some great horchata. If you want real great authentic tacos this is the place to come

Great service at this restaurant. It was my first time eating here, and the(I presume) manager brought out sample tacos for me to try. Both were delicious, I order a taco dinner and the portions were huge, fresh ingredients. Restaurant looked very clean. I usually go to the taco place down the street but I believe this will be my new taco stop. Excellent overall!

The tortas are sooo good BUT the Al Pastor tacos are simply amazing! I don’t live close by but it is well worth the trip to get such top notch food. I was here tonight for dinner and was not disappointed. These are the best tacos in town.

Great tacos. Love that this place is 5 blocks away from me. Cash only though. Credit card fees are a cost of doing business in 2015. Would be nice if they took credit/debit cards. Other than that nice place to eat authentic Mexican food.

I’ve never wrote a review before but this place has earned it in my opinion if Mexican cuisine is what you crave. I’ve visited here at least 6 times now and every time the staff has taken our order quickly and our food came out even quicker. And I’ve tried all their meats in tacos and burritos and all have been deliciously seasoned. I’m looking forward to the time I get to stop there for breakfast. I will drive out of my way if time allows to get food here.

If you want food poisoning go here. To top it off you get crap service. The wait staff are pissed they have to take your order. Cash only and they don’t even have a burrito on the menu! And no I’m not kidding… my crew from work went there for lunch and we all ended up with food poisoning. It’s not normal to throw up your food and be on the can for 2 days praying to the porcelain god!

This place is awesome. Food is great. Service is great. Restaurant is always clean and inviting. Mostly men work at this location but they are all very respectful. No cards accepted which can be annoying if you dont use cash. But its worth making that extra trip to the atm. Although they do provide a generic atm there. I do Love that you can call in orders for carry-out. Compared to other mexican restaurants in town it is more expensive but you do get what you pay for. Love it

Delicious Mexican style breakfast. Eggs cooked w/Chorizo, perfectly marinated chicken with a side of beans and rice. Amazing tacos, burritos & tortas. Chicken is my favorite. But their steak and al pastor don’t disappoint. Been eating in the Joliet Atotonilco since I moved here 6 years ago. And I can’t go anywhere else for Mexican food.

Fantastic mostly non-amercanized Mexican food. The service was pretty good. Nice tender lengua in the tacos. Pretty good al pastor. Fried green onions were awesome side. We loved the carrots that come gratis. Margaritas were kind of small but nice and not too sweet. Only real complaint was that the steak fajitas were poorly cut. The meat was well cooked and tasty, but with that cut of meat, it must be cut across grain. If half stars were available, this would be 4.5. Highly recommend.

I’ve been here a couple of times in the past month. The burritos are authentic and the fish tacos are some of the best I’ve ever had. The staff is always really friendly and the place is always clean. They have a sign on the door saying they don’t accept credit cards but that didn’t bother me since I was paying cash anyways. although, this might be a big deal for others. The only thing I didn’t like is the big jars of carrots and jalapeños they have on the tables. I don’t know how long they’ve been there and how much they go through because they were so soggy, the carrots and the jalapeños both were falling apart. I like mine to have a bit of a bite to them. Other than that, this place is really good.

Top notch! Fresh ingredients, good atmosphere, good service, food prepared excellently and elegantly. The corn tortillas used in my fajitas(which came to the table steaming on a cast iron pan) and my Mom’s soft tacos were out of this world and the meat and vegetables were juicy, flavorful, and delicious in every way. The rice and beans that came with our plates were very authentic Mexican style. Everything was perfect aside from one tough piece of chicken in the fajitas but nothing to complain about. Everything was a bit spicy if you’re sensitive to that too.

*sigh* Wife wants to go to Harrah’s Joliet. I’m a retired Vegas craps dealer. I don’t want to see the inside of a casino ever again! 35 years is enough. Well, I found someplace to eat some authentic Mexican food, specifically from Atotonilco. While the wifey gambles, I eat al pastor tacos. Everybody’s happy! Perfect pork, finished on a flat top, topped with cilantro and onions, finished with a spicy red sauce. All the goodness wrapped in 2 corn tortillas. I’d give a heat rating of 6.5 out of 10. 2 tacos Al Pastor, medium Jamaica=7 bucks and change = heck of a excellent spicy, messy, flavorful lunch or light dinner. A few tables, beer, open kitchen, unpretentious south of the border feel. I can’t wait to come back. I can’t wait for the wifey to want to gamble on Joliet! Update: I told my wife and she wants to go! Can’t wait to go with the wife!

Taquerias Atotonilco was my 2nd backup plan after the first two places I tried on a Saturday morning weren’t open yet. I’m glad I stopped here, as the food was tasty. I ordered three tacos a la carte(lengua, atotonilco and pollo) with a side of frijoles. The food arrived in a few minutes, and each of the items was piping hot. The beans($ 1.50), while tasty, were a little small in portion size. The tacos($ 2.50 each), on the other hand, were surprisingly well filled. I think that almost, but not quite, offsets their higher than expected pricing. A $ 1.75 price point seems more appropriate to me, but their décor is a large step above the typical neighborhood taqueria, so it may not be possible. As far as tacos taste — each of them was really excellent. My favorite was the atotonilco(carne asada with crema and thinly sliced tomatoes), followed by the chicken and the lengua. All were among the best I’ve had at a taqueriea. Not sure if I’d make the drive to Joliet for just this, but I’d definitely take a detour if I’m somewhere in the vicinity.
