I’m leaving a second review not about the food which is amazing. We went to eat lunch today. We arrived at 1:45. We didn’t know they closed at 2pm and reopened at 5pm. Anyway we seen they were locking the door and employees were leaving. I apologize to the girl work and she was beyond polite. She could have been aggravated but she came and check on us and was all smiles. That really says a lot about this restaurant. If it were me I would have been irritated.

Wasn’t impressed with the very small portion sizes with big prices for what little you get! Never been to a Mexican eatery where I had to purchase chips and salsa! Save your time and money and eat at a restaurant, you’re going to thank me later!

Average at best. Very disappointing after reading such great reviews. Tamale had crusty edges like it had been microwaved. Tacos were very average, brisket was dry. Went for early dinner (6:30ish) on a Friday night. You’d think they’d be ready for a rush and food would be fresh. We left disappointed to say the least.

Went here yesterday after reading other Unilocal reviews. It deserves all the positive comments for sure. Going back when we are that way again which hopefully is soon. Daughter got burrito, I picked brisket nachos. Both excellent.

Went to El Fenix 1st got so bad service walked out. Stopped by on our way home.
Glad we did. Great service and food.
Got out drinks and food within minutes.
Food was very good. People were nice and greeted us with a smile. We will be back.

I’ve eaten here 2 times in four days. The food is tasty with great flavor and some creative recipes. It’s a quaint restaurant which is very clean with great service. The brisket and the skirt tacos were seasoned well.

So disappointed today. We have been talking this place up to friends and family. We have also been more than willing to drive 10 miles out of our way to have breakfast tacos. But that will change now.
We just walked out, without spending a cent. Why? No longer serving breakfast until 2. I am not entirely sure why the addition of an egg is too much to ask after noon…
Staff didn’t even ask what we wanted… just told us no and watched us walk out to spend our money elsewhere.

The brisket taco salad is out of this world! I love it! It comes with a side of chips and salsa as well! I’m in love. I highly suggest the brisket anything here!

This place is SO good. The employees were so nice to my toddler! They brought him a toy car to play with and let him have some more soft mints. The food is so yummy and prices are reasonable. Food is all natural and fresh ingredients! We will definitely be back again!

I work for Aire Serv of Johnson County, and I was looking for local food during my lunch break. I tried Tortilla Flats and glad that I did. I had the Taco Platter with the El Paso and Don Benito tacos. The food was delicious. The staff was courteous, and the place was clean. I will be going back.

This used to be the laughing pig burger place and now it’s a Mexican food restaurant. it’s been totally renovated and their tacos are AMAZING! In my opinion they r better than fuzzy’s or torchy’s tacos which are 2 of my favorites. I’d way rather support a small family owned place like this. Make sure u try the San Antonio carnitas taco. So yummy!
