This place has a delicious Caramel pecan apple pie that is out of this galaxy. It’s tucked to the side so you have to look and make sure you are in the right spot get it a la mode with Cinnamon Ice cream I didn’t photograph it because I devoured it in a minute!

I really appreciate the help I was given today when I showed up with not one small child but two. They saw my hands were full and the gal had no issue carrying my food outside for me where wanted to sit. I wasn’t done inside yet so she kindly waited out there with it. The gal working the register was super nice as well. Certainly the best spot for kids to eat in Julian considering they have an outdoor area which makes it easier on the little ones who have been in the car for a long ride up. The food was alright too, nothing too fancy, but it served it’s purpose for us as we just needed to get some food in before the drive/nap home. :)

Decided to give this place a try instead of going to Mom’s across the street, which we usually always do. I went really out of the box; I got the traditional crust apple pie with vanilla ice cream.(Crazy, I know.) The ice cream was good but the pie didn’t exactly blow me away, to say the least. I had a store bought one a few days ago and sadly they tasted about the same. Come here if you don’t want to wait in line at another place, or if all pie tastes the same to you.

Picked up a vegan strawberry-rubarb pie here yesterday on the way back from Anza-Borrego. FYI, there’s no public bathroom, even for paying customers. And like any weekend day, the place was packed, as was every store in Julian at the time. I have not been in Julian for more than twelve years, and it was as as badly overrun as I remembered it. What some intrepid person should do is create a rival mountain town, by purchasing a parcel of land in Ranchita, Aguanga, etc. And then purchase an entire ghost town from South Dakota, Nevada, etc. Bring all the historic buildings in, put businesses in them, and begin bringing people to an alternative mountain getaway. This would provide an aternative getaway for an expanding metropolis and badly needed jobs for back country folks. Otherwise, I will go back to Julian but only on T-W-TH. Don’t care for the crowds. The pie was really good, BTW.

They have a very limited selection of baked goods, but what they do have is pretty yummy. Very simple desserts, kinda pricy. Really bad service, not a very friendly staff. Bad customer service skills.

My favorite pie shop in Julian! I always come here when I’m in town, the pies are super good. I always get the apple crumb, I tried the boysenberry and that was a little sweet but my parents loved it. My cousin said the mango apple pie was good and I will try it tomorrow, I’m excited. It’s a small shop located on the corner so I don’t think a lot of people notice it. I also tried the chili pot pie and that was surprisingly really good! I got it with onions and cheese and the crust of the pot pie was a perf combination. The staff was really nice and helpful as well. Will always come back!

We really enjoyed the apple crumb pie with cinnamon ice-cream. I have had the Julian Pie company pies as well.(only store bought at the local San Diego grocery store) They both taste the same and I am not a big fan but Julian’s pie are pretty amazing! Cinnamon ice-cream is the best I have ever had! A must try when in town. The hot pie and cold ice-cream and a side of hot chocolate is a delight! Yum!

The crust of the traditional apple pie we purchased was bland… is that supposed to be the norm? In addition, there is no bathroom in the café. Clearly they had one for the staff but they didn’t let a child use it. No thanks to walking across the street in freezing cold weather, find a bathroom in the dark, and then find a quarter to use it. Pain in the derrière… Off with a star.

The Gluten Free Pie here is so good, we ordered two to go. The ice cream is just plain Jane vanilla — nothing special — and the coffee requires the flavored creamers they offer. Come early because otherwise there is a line out the door all day long.

if you’re looking for the best pie spot in Julian, this is it. After extensive research(read: eating a lot of pies), it is my humble opinion that Apple Alley’s pies(not just the apple pie) are more delicious than those of Mom’s or the Julian Pie Co. Personal favorite? Hands down the mango apple. MMMMmmmm. But everything I’ve had there has been good. They even have a sugar free pie, although I cannot say I have tried it — if I’m getting pie I’m getting the genuine real-deal. sugar, calories and all. Also if you’re looking to stop by for lunch, Apple Alley’s got you covered with some basic but tasty sandwiches and wraps, etc. It’s not anything gourmet, but the portions are good and the lunch special comes with a slice of pie! woop woop!

We went here for lunch and pie. I liked that it is off the beaten track. The lunch portions were huge for what we paid. I was told by a friend to not eat pie at the Julian Pie Company and try pie at the smaller stores. I am glad I did. The pie was amazing. Definitely will come back here.

Gluten free pie! If you need to eat gluten free, it can be a bummer to go to Julian and watch everyone enjoy the delicious pies offered at every restaurant. But Apple Alley solves that dilemma! We stopped by every night that we were there and got a piece to take home for my son. They were great about getting him a frozen piece of the variety he wanted(they have at least 2 different gf varieties) that we could transport back to the campground and warm up later.

Friendly staff, tasty pie … It doesn’t get much better. I enjoyed how they first brought out my lunch and chose the right moment to bring out some nicely heated pie. Yum!

Everytime I come to Julian I eat here… mainly because its the only place in town that offers gluten free apple pie. For lunch they have soups, salads, and sandwiches. There is gluten free bread available. This past time I got the gluten free veggie sandwhich full of fresh veggies and delicious. The bread is a little dry, but most gluten free bread is. It comes with a bag of chips and a pickle. The two gluten free pie choices are apple crumb and boysenberry. I had the apple crumb and it was delicious! The pie is served warm and you can choose to have it with a side of ice cream. Thanks apple alley for serving gluten free!

Apple Alley is a cute little place with lots of country charm and pleasant, welcoming staff that brings your food directly to your table. I really appreciated that they offered not only gluten free sandwiches but also gluten free pie! The turkey sandwich I ordered was good, but a basic sandwich though the bread was pretty tasty for gluten free. The definite star of the meal was the pie. You can choose from either apple crumb or boysenberry apple crumb as gluten free so I went with the boysenberry and was not disappointed at all. It came out warm and was delicious! Especially the crumb topping which I couldn’t stop eating. We all had our pie plain but you can request for it to come ala mode. Julian has an abundance of pie stores, but I think this may be the only one with gluten free versions and honestly, you wouldn’t know the difference. Definitely stop in for a slice!

So we ended up here after trying two other restaurants that didn’t have high chairs. This place has high chairs, yay! So we stayed. The menu selection for food is limited. My husband got a turkey sandwich and although the ingredients were fresh, it was just a turkey sandwich. They don’t have a children’s menu except for PB and jelly, which my daughter has a peanut allergy, so we just ordered her a half turkey sandwich. I tried the chili pot pie which was very good. They offer fresh brewed iced tea, which is getting harder to find. And the desserts were good. Nothing really stand out but good. They weren’t willing to make a grilled cheese sandwich or to put their pesto chicken salad on gluten free bread. In addition, the staff isn’t over friendly, borderline friendly is more like it. We will probl try another restaurant next time we visit the area. There are lots to choose from and this one wasn’t anything extraordinary.

The ladies over at the Julian Market referred us to this place. It was pretty good, although I’ve been to the Blue Owl, so it’s hard to compare. We grabbed two pieces of pie for lunch, the caramel apple pecan and the regular apple pie. They were both very good, although I think could use a touch of salt to balance out the sweet. The cruse was very nice and flaky. Not the best pie I’ve had and certainly not the worst. Unfortunately, it’s the only pie I’ve had in Julian so far, so I can’t testify to if it’s the best or worst in town.

There’s so many options for APPLEPIE in the town of Julian, what’s a person to do? So many choices, but not enough appetite to try ‘em all. I asked a few locals who worked in Julian and they were frank in saying you can’t really go wrong since most are fresh baked, but most of ‘em pointed into the direction of the Apple Alley Bakery. I’m not sure if there’s a mutual referral deal or bias, but it was a good enough endorsement for me to try. The pie was good, I had the Apple Crumble Pie with Cinnamon Ice Cream. I went in April, and hear in the fall is when Apple’s are in season, so it may be even better than, but in the Spring it was/is still good and delicious. We had the ½ sandwich(Tuna) with Soup(or Salad) and slice of Pie. I think it’s about $ 10, and then add in the upcharge for Ice Cream. It’s enough for 1 as a meal or 2 people to snack on together and share.
