I was going to compare these products to the products from Chinatown, but I don’t think it’s fair because when you go to Chinatown you know exactly what you are getting: quirky goods at a cheap price. But here, at the glorious Juneau Trading Co., you’re just getting ripped off. Most of the time the products from Chinatown work ATLEASTONCE. That was not my experience with this business’s products. What was more disappointing than buying an overpriced crap good was that even within just a few short hours after purchasing this defective product I could not get an exchange or refund. I can assume the only way they are able to get away with this extremely poor service is because their primary customers come in an endless stream from cruise ships and they are not concerned with repeat customers. I can only assume that they were excluded from the Juneau Downtown Business Association on purpose(they’re not on the free map provided by the city).

DON’T GOHERE!!! Do not expect to find good customer service here. They do not give you a receipt with your purchase. If you find that your purchase is broken or defective then they expect you to produce a receipt in order to make an exchange or get a refund. Even if you try to show a bank statement with the EXACT amount of your purchase, they will not believe that your purchased the item there, even if it was the only item of its kind sold within the last few hours. The store is run by children. The only reason they will continue to be in business is because they are conveniently located near the cruise ships. Do yourself a favor and support one of the other smaller businesses run by friendly locals. You can meet more interesting people and find better quality, unique products.

Anything and everything Alaskan can be found here. Not a chain store and not a jewelry store. This huge store carries everything you could want for souvenirs from the state. The place is crammed with shirts, sweater, and long johns. Coffee cups, stuffed artic animals, and other toys can be found here. If you are hungry– there must have been 10 types of smoked salmon available, as well as other local foods. The prices weren’t too bad. It will be elbow to elbow if you are in there when a ship is in port, and God help you if there are two ships in port. It’s one of the first shop you come to when walking into town from the piers. Staff was friendly and efficient consider the number of tired cruisers that were there. Ya, I found a cute Christmas present for some one on my list.
