Twisted Fish failed again. We went back to give them another try late in the season. Even though the owner had offered us dinner on the house because of our last experience we did not feel right taking him up on it and we made no mention of this when we arrived. Again, we asked to sit outside. For some reason we were seated at a table without a shade umbrella, condiments, napkins, and flatware. There were others set and available that they took down and removed while we were sitting there. Our waiter was somewhat abrupt, but thankfully he was not the same jerk as before(read my prior review). There was a group of 10 next to us that was done with their meal and the waiter seemed very intent on fawning over them, though it appeared that they had already paid their check. Several times we had to reminder the waiter that we were waiting on something(drink refills, napkins, flatware). I tried to order two items on the menu but both were out. By then I was starting to get sick from the smell of the fish processor next door so I opted not to eat at all. My companion ordered the clam chowder and prawns. We had to ask for flatware while our food grew cold. The chowder was very good but the«prawns» were apparently Costco precooked farmed shrimp from somewhere like Vietnam, skewered, barely season, and overcooked(reheated). The waiter was only attentive when he brought the bill. We left with a ridiculous bill for what we were served and a bad taste in our mouth again. We will not be back.

We hiked Mt Robert all morning and worked up quite the appetite. Right near the tram on the pier is Twisted Fish. Why eat the usual on the ship, let’s go for some fresh local catch. I love it when employees aren’t afraid to speak up. Ricky questioned one of our choices for lunch, pointing out that it wasn’t a local catch and he felt the portion wasn’t quite as generous for the price. He suggested the king crab tacos and the king crab flat bread. The crabs arrived that morning about 50 feet from where we were sitting on the patio. I never doubt an employee’s recommendation. And he wasn’t wrong. The large chunks of fresh crab were so tender and sweet. The flat bread was crisp and the other topping plentiful. The two large tacos were incredibly juicy and packed with crab and apple slaw with just enough heat to tease the tastebuds. The interior is a large bar like restaurant– reminded me a little of a TGI Fridays. But if the weather is gorgeous I highly suggest you dine on the patio. It was wonderful– shade from the summer sun available, wind break from the pier keeps the breeze away and you can enjoy the hustle and bustle of the pier around you. Great local seafood spot.

Must say I was under impressed based on the number of stars this place has received. As Philippe noted, it is located right next to cruise ship port, so expect lots of tourists during heart of summer tourist season. Parking lot next to restaurant is extremely small. We got lucky that someone was leaving as we were arriving and scored rock star spot. Otherwise, we would have had to park elsewhere and walked less than 0.5 miles. It was crowded when we arrived but got seated quickly since it was just my girlfriend and I. Waiter brought us water. 1 water glass had a black flake of some kind frozen in the ice cube. Asked for a replacement water twice before receiving it. But it was busy, and waiter was apologetic and courteous so no problems. We ordered clam chowder bowl. My soup spoon had some crusty clear residue on it. Ate chowder with my fork. Chowder was ok. I had chipotle salmon served over mixed veggies. It was ok at best. Carrots looked a little over cooked and dehydrated, but tasted fine. My partner had king crab tacos which were also ok at best. Overall, an average place that would have received our average 3 stars except for the two cleanliness issues we encountered.

Very expensive, rip off Waiters steer you to more costly choices. Can not get regular cheeseburger med-well. Has to be more expensive Kobe beef or Bison burger. Two king crab legs in the crab leg capital of U.S.-$ 65.00

One of the best clam chowders and oysters we’ve had was right here in Juneau. The oysters on the half was sweet and fresh! This was a great place to eat, relax and talk about the events of the day. Our server, Howie was fast, happy and very accommodating. :)

Clam chowder was excellent. Halibut and chips was a large serving and enough for two. I liked the tempura batter they used for them. The cod had a corn meal type batter. We had lunch here after we left our cruise ship.

Was expecting a great place for fish but instead got a tourist trap. Granted it is near the dock of major cruise boat but please. Ordered the mate plate: half salmon, half halibut. Both were over cooked and therefore dry. Coming from Seattle, not what you would expect. Also the plate is coming with fries, with halibut or salmon, really!!! Need to say the service was good and our waitress nice but they lost me at the kitchen level One need to understand most of the customers are one time shot and you will never see them again… In brief, not impress at all! No need to come again

Went just before the lunch rush which was nice because we had a nice view. This was recommended by lots of people by we were extremely disappointed. My side salad was fresh but my jalapeño halibut sliders lacked flavor. My husbands salmon mac and cheese was super runny and gave us both stomach aches. Over-rated and over-priced for food quality. Make reservations for dinner as we were told they get very busy!

Great restaurant right by the cruise ship pier. We had the parmesan crusted halibut sandwich, halibut burger, and halibut tacos… all excellent. My son had the cedar plank salmon with bourbon sauce and said it was the best he ever had. Even the iced tea was really good. A little pricey but it is a tourist area. Definitely recommend the place especially for cruise visitors looking for a break from ship food.

Just finished our meal and here’s what we think: Service is slow but friendly. Clams were exquisite and there were a sufficient amount of them. Don’t bother with the drinks, I had a a twisted mango Rita that tasted like watered down orange juice. Salmon tacos were good, nice presentation but the fish was over cooked. Previous reviews said the same thing, you would think management would read the reviews and quit overcooking the fish! I loved the king crab tacos, big portion and very tasty. Be sure and check out the fish processing going on just outside the restaurant, interesting.

Great fish and chips. Halibut was fantastic. Good service, tasty food and a little expensive but the speed of service and great tasting food more than made up for the cost. Came recommended and I am forwarding this recommendation to anyone stopping in Juneau.

I was very very disappointed coming here today especially after the last meal I had here was pretty good! Our server started off by forgetting my drink and only offered it after my meal came. «Oops I forgot your drink!» Then the fish and chips I ordered was extremely dry. I will not eat here again! Since it’s so close to the cruise ship I’m sure it’s a tourist trap. My recommendation would to patronize the little shacks along the boardwalk. Talking to other passengers better service, better tasting food, and at s better price!

Visited Juneau with some friends while on a cruise. Twisted Fish always has great fish. I try to get my halibut fix whenever I am in Alaska. They have seating inside and out. It is very accessible to all those on a cruise as they are close to the docks. My husband and I both had the halibut burger. It was fresh and the coleslaw was good. Our waitress, Claire was always checking on us and was always happy to answer our questions. Also like their selection of Alaska brewing beer. It was a beautiful day in Juneau. Sunny and warm.

Grabbed a great table on their patio. We each had a beer and split the King Crab claws/pincher plate. It’s not that much food,($ 38) but since we only wanted a taste it served it’s purpose. Next time if I just want crab though, we would probably go to Tracy’s Crab Shack.

Tourist prices, but very good place to eat. Took about 20 minutes to be seated Wife ordered a whole lot of oysters [I think 4 plates] and I ordered salmon croquettes and first mate plate [salmon and halibut] Everything was delicious. Just cannot beat fresh fish.

Looked this place up on Unilocal and it we had a twenty minute wait so we checked out the store next to it. We came back and were seated promptly so good timing by us(or them). I went with a salad and a local brew and it was all good so nothing to complain about! I would write more, but I’ve only been here once(and since it’s in Alaska I probably wont be going again!) So if you’re on a cruise, check this place out.

My partner heard of this place and I think ate here before. I really wanted to try Tracy’s because of Unilocal reviews, but I also wanted to eat something other than crab. ATMOSPHERE: The place is bustling with tourists. It’s a wide open dining space with table seating, small bar area, and open kitchen. We sat at the bar for drinks and to eat. The entire room is wood from floor to ceiling. Very warm and inviting. FOOD: Cedar plank salmon — A nice sized fillet cooked on a cedar plank with a sweet & salty bourbon & molasses sauce for dipping, and a huge basket of seasoned curly fries. The salmon was tender and flavorful and the fries hot & crunchy. SERVICE: There was obviously a wait list because of the line. We stood right in front of the hostess stand for about 8 minutes, waiting for her to greet us. She kept looking at her list, tables and running utensils to tables. No eye contact, no greeting. Figuring we’d never be greeted, I interrupted her tunnel vision and asked for a table. SMH. In the mean time, I saw that the bar area was totally empty. We sat down for a beer and found out we could eat at the bar too. Perfect. The bartender Christian was awesome. He was patient, professional and super down to earth. He made the whole experience even better. OVERALL: Tourist hot spot but the food is really good. If the restaurant side is full, check out the bar area and sit there!
