Sorry I’m a little late on this! We pulled into the parking lot last weekend(31 Jan 15) to eat lunch, checked in… only to find out it was closed for renovations. So bummed! We made this our stopping point for our outing. Love eating there and the atmosphere! Crouching Lion Owner: if you are reading this I hope you won’t be close long!!! We miss it already!

We rented a house about a mile down the road and keep coming back for more. Staff is friendly and atmosphere is warm and inviting. We tried basically everything on the menu and most thing were pretty damn good. Def check out when in the area.

Stopped here on the way home from North Shore one night. Love the funky ambiance, waves crashing across the street, outside dining. Food good but nothing spectacular, friendly staff, tasty drinks. Wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here based on food alone but overall i liked it and will go back when out that way.

We spent our Sunday afternoon hiking Pu’u Manamana Trail. That was really the only reason why we tried the Crouching Lion Bar and Grill. We were tired, hungry, and wasn’t really up for driving around aimlessly looking for a place to eat. Plenty of parking offered in the front. We walked up the stairs and there was inside seating(basically the bar area) and outside seating. First impression after entering the venue: This place is pretty ghetto. When we sat down the bartender/waitress brought us menus. I wish I took a picture of it, pretty much half the menu was blacked out with a sharpie. It was ridiculously hilarious. The Grub. [[ CHICKENWINGS ]] The chicken wings were alright. I would have to disagree with Victoria M. I do not think these are the ‘best chicken wings on the island’. [[ GARLICFRIES ]] The garlic fries were LOADED with garlic. They definitely don’t cheat you there. Overall — This must be a great place for people to go who live on this side. But for me there’s not that much that motivates me to come back.

We stopped here on the drive home from the north shore. A hidden gem. Clearly a family owned business, this little place on the shore line is worth the stop– even for just a cocktail. The drinks were cheap and delicious as we watched the sunset on Hawaii. Food was tasty and well priced.

Beautiful spot… Service slow, had to go to bar to order our own food. Drinks ok, got the end of a wine bottle so tasted like vinegar. So hungry by the time we got our food we didn’t notice till half way through that our steak and burger were raw… Got the check and left. Btw our waitress left before us and didn’t say anything.

A great place to get away from the city or the leeward side traffic. The food is excellent. The menu has good variety, something for everyone, old and young, vegan or carnivore. the service is friendly. If there is no hurricane approaching eat outside.

We ate here after hiking Puu Manamana. We were starving and it was right there. There wasn’t a lot of people in there but it seemed to take forever. There was 1 waitress, but she was slow. I got the chicken sandwich. It was just ok. The fries were ok. Everything was overpriced. It took us an hour to get our food… and like I said there was only a few other people. I won’t go back again.

Weak passionfruit caipirinha but the Ka’a’awa colada was a hit. The view from the outside patio is quite nice and tranquil. We had the Kalua pork and enjoyed it quite a bit. Nice and tender as well as flavorful without being salty. We asked for and used a little sriracha along with the BBQ sauce it came with and that made it pop. The pineapple coleslaw it came with was ok, and my partner loved the brown rice for some weird reason I won’t go into here. lol There was only one waitress and she was pleasant and did her best.

For roadside fare, we were very impressed by the quality of the food. There were a wide variety of options for meat-eaters and health-conscious vegetarians alike. The service was super friendly and the atmosphere quintessential Oceanside but with a special twist. This was a family-friendly restaurant with a lot of interesting visual treats with the kids. Full bar, great ocean view, protected outside dining. It was exactly what we were looking for. My kids have this 5 stars, I would say 4, but definitely worth it!

Fantastic location and a veritable oasis on the otherwise barren northeastern coast. It has three distinct components. What looks like a fairly formal, high ceilinged dining room; a nice bar with a local feel and a two tiered terrace, which overlooks the ocean. They have a fair selection of beers and a pretty standard menu. It ain’t the Ritz, but so what?

I’m staying in Hawaii for about two months, been here many times but never stayed this long. Definitely didn’t want to do the same tourist crap that I usually end up doing, so drove around until I saw a cool looking place to eat and this was the stop. Not the newest or fanciest place, but I don’t want that. Has a very«local» flair to it, there was a high school football game on TV and half the people in the place were cheering for them. I had chili garlic shrimp, it was great. My friends had surf and turf with crab cakes and that was good also. It wasn’t very busy on the night we stopped, and I like it that way. I’m going back during daylight hours because I’m sure the view is spectacular.

You know, my fiancé and I had been wanting to go to the Crouching Lion Inn for YEARS, but when I checked Unilocal,we balked at some of the bad reviews. Let me tell you: I’m glad I finally didn’t listen. We were around Kualoa Ranch for a trip to Secret Island and wanted to get cocktails and lunch before heading out. Even though it was pricey, it was still delicious and the chance to sit and enjoy that view was well worth the check. Our server(Tyler, I think), seemed rushed because he was the only server at lunch. With 8 tables, he still was attentive and focused our entire meal. My fiancé get to pork sandwich and I got the avocado and tuna salad. Both were fresh and delicious. No one got sick. If we’re up that way, we’ll definitely be there again.

Don’t just drive by this place, stop by and have an appetizer and a nice cold drink! Sit on the patio over looking Kahana Bay, you’ll be glad you did! Restaurant is right along Kam Hwy and right around a bend and its kinda like ‘oh there it is… STOP! LOL, you see the sign then pull into the gravel parking lot and walk up the path and you’ll be greeted with a warm smile and told to sit wherever. We walked into the bar and ordered a Blue Hawaiian on the rocks and a Heineken from the bartender. Friendly gal. They were made right then as it wasn’t too crowded. The bar area was quite open and spacious. We got our drinks and went and sat at the patio. Great choice in my book! Especially when your watching the sunset! Pupu Coconut Shrimp and Calamari were what we ordered. We just go done with a fabulous day at Kualoa Ranch and weren’t quite hungry for dinner but wanted something light. Both dishes were amazing! The shrimp were huge, lightly breaded with coconut and fried. Topped off with freshly peeled coconut! The perfect amount to share with your sweetie! The calamari rings were homemade and fried to perfection. They were tender and very fresh with sprinkled green onions and parsley. Again, perfect for a couple wanting to share. Our waitress was Natasha. She was prompt, attentive and she knew the menu. She had the Aloha spirit and gave not only us great service but the group of 8 to 10 behind us as well. I overheard one woman stating that she was satisfied with her meal and service and that she was definitely coming back. I would also if I lived on the Island. But I don’t, so I’ll get here when I come next time… After our meal was done and definitely not feeling rushed we ordered another round of drinks. I ordered the house special LIONSPUNCH. Oh boy it was refreshing and really sweet. Natasha suggested it since I had the sweet Blue Hawaiian earlier, she thought I might like it. It sure gave me a «punch»! The alcohol is the creeper! Whole experience here was great! The view is great! The service was great! Food was great and even the resident feline was friendly! A nice family atmosphere and also a perfect romantic atmosphere.

Excellent. Such a nice and lovely quaint café by the ocean front. Serves good food, staff were friendly, and helpful. An ideal place to go and enjoy the view. Plus, the serve alcohol. What’s not to like about this place.

Looks a little ghetto, but it’s actually awesome. They have the best chicken wings on the island, and show sports games. You can sit inside or out, and there’s a nice view. Only downside is the Mosquitos when it’s time for Mosquitos, if you’re sitting outside.

If you’re looking for a delish dinner to remember, i’d keep driving past Crouching Lion and turn into Lei Leis at Turtle Bay. To me, this is a stopover on a N. Shore drive for some pupus, cold beers and an amazing ocean view. Walk past the restaurant section and you’ll find the bar, which is super casual with a hodge-podge décor. There’s also a pool table if you keep walking past the bar. Oh, and don’t be confused about the name because there is no place to stay here(as far as I know). The hands-down best menu item is the steaming pot o’clams with salt water and lemon. I crave those things. Simplicity is the key ingredient and it seriously tastes like you’re eating the ocean. The other decent thing on the menu is the Brazilian stew, which makes sense, given that this place is run by Brazilians. Skip the wings and the house salad dressing, which tastes like liquid sugar. The mixed drinks are strong and pretty cheap by Hawaii’s standards. The have beer on draft and plenty in the bottle. There always seems to be a few tipsy locals bellying up at the bar. The ocean view can’t be beat, and there are usually some birds and bunnies(of course) in the area by the bathroom. Make sure you walk through the entire place to fully appreciate how weird it is — and I mean that in the best way possible. A couple nights of the week, you can hear this place pumping from the street with dance music and bands. Given that it’s the only bar in the vicinity, it has to be all things to everyone.
