When in Maui, I always gotta make a trip out to Maui Mall to get my Tasaka Guri Guri fix. It’s always helpful too now that there’s free #TWCWiFi for the public to enjoy. Fun Factory is always good for the kids, as is Genki Sushi…

I have been to Maui mall for a good seven years now, every time I come to Maui. This is nothing like Queen K shopping center but it is a community shopping center and hang out spot for everyone. Some say this mall has seen better days and is kind of rundown but I think it has potential. For the most part, The mall is self is clean and very user-friendly to most people who come here. I first discovered the Maui mall when I had a craving for ice cream and discovered the Longs drugstore when I was driving along Kaahumanu Avenue in Kahului. Need this to say, it was time to explore this new mall — this was back in 2008. I enjoyed the Maui mall because it is easy to navigate and has a lot of stores and restaurants for the budget conscious person — whether you are a visitor or a local. There is a Baskin-Robbins and a subway, as well as a Thai restaurant which is pretty good. They also have whole foods here, TJ Maxx, and a multi screen theater. The Maui mall is located at 275 W. Kaahumanu Ave. in Kahului, literally down the street from the Queen Kaahumanu Shopping Center — well, about ½ mile apart. The parking is very ample because of the sheer parking spaces dedicated to everyone who works and shops here at the mall. A lot of the merchants here at the mall the mall except major credit cards, so that’s always a good thing. When I need to go to the Maui mall, I normally headed to the subway restaurant or by stop at Longs drugs store. However on this recent trip to Maui on January 18, 2016, I ended up craving Thai food for a late lunch and went to the Thailand Cuisine Thai restaurant instead of getting Subway footlong and could have saved a bunch of $$$ before flying back home to Oahu. But supporting local businesses is a great thing and happy to do so. For me, the Maui mall is a perfect place to hang out because it has theater and a small miniature water park in the center of the mall. It is pretty cool to see small kids have fun with the waterpark and it makes me jealous that I am not. Another reason why to visit this shopping center is that it is about five minutes away from the airport. You can have a quick lunch and do some last-minute shopping before returning home and that’s beautiful. Nearby the Maui mall is farmers market where are you can do your shopping at there as well. The County of Maui also have their offices here at the Maui mall so that’s pretty cool for accessibility to government services daily. The overall experience here can be categorized as an average experience, but best believe you can find your hidden gems within this mall. 4.0 stars because the movie theaters are here and good shopping. Support local! B+

The whole foods here is a perfect one-stop shopping place. It provides nice salad boxes and other self served buffet boxes. The Maui handmade ice pop is also plus point!

It’s time for an update as there are big changes coming to this mall that’s been alive since the 1970’s and even sported a Woolworth’s at one time. Unfortunately it hasn’t received it’s energy booster shot, until now. There’s a new owner, and things are looking positive. While the layout hasn’t changed at all, 2 new buildings are coming up on the mall’s west side. One will house Maui’s first TJ Maxx, and the other about five new stores, including a «burger restaurant,» according to a recent article in the paper. There are more restaurants than retail shops, a plus in my book. Parking is plentiful, and roadway access is the easiest of any mall I’ve been to. EXCLUSIVESTORES: — Pure Barre — TJ Maxx — Whole Foods HIGHLIGHTS: — 10 screen movie theater — County/DMV offices(moving out in 2016) — Fun Factory — Hawaiian Island Creations — Longs Drug — Supercuts — Tasaka Guri Guri — The Pet Shop RESTAURANTS: — Ale House — Genki Sushi — IHOP — Max’s of Manila(opening late 2015) — Oritsu Ramen — Pizza Hut — Siu’s Chinese Kitchen — Subway — Tea Box — Thailand Cuisine — Wendy’s

MAUIMALL @70 E KAAHUMANUAVE: This mall is looking sad. I guess there was days it was full of stores and activities but looked pretty empty… I noticed Oritsu Ramen, Siu’s Chinese Kitchen, Thailand Cuisine, Genki Sushi, Pure Barre, Trash Art Gallery, Fun Factory, a pet shop, a theater, longs drugs and wholefood. PUREBARRE @70 E KAAHUMANUAVE /MAUI MALL: When I peeked the studio on 04÷27÷15 evening, it looked closed and dark. Must had been in between noon class and evening class. I would love to try this! Even though this mall feels sad, but longs, wholefood and Barre studio are here, I rate 4.

Meh, nothing really here worth while except the movie theatre, whole foods and longs drug store. Out dated and not any name brand shops.

A dingy, old, sad, sorry excuse of a mall. I thought it was bad before, but it’s barely worth going to for anything these days with the construction and lack of variety in stores. They tore down the only cool/shaded parking areas for a crappy store that we don’t need, too. Highlights here are the Megaplex and Whole Foods… That’s it… Tasaka Guri Guri tastes great, but closes often lately for extended periods of time. I personally find it hard to actually catch them open. The Pet Shop is «okay» — what little I liked about it, I fear will slowly disappear now that the fish lady is gone… Other small businesses here are pretty much negligible to mention. The«food court» is… Not much of a court, as the shops here are spread out all over the place and they’re all old and run down looking, save for Whole Foods. Genki Sushi is decent, but not worth the crowd or wait. I used to like the Subway here since it was conveniently located right off the big, shady parking lot but alas. NOTRECOMMEND. Waste of time unless you want to watch a movie or go to Whole Foods. Otherwise, go to Queen K, there’s more stuff and doesn’t look abandoned…

This mall is just old. The only 2 things worth while here are Regal Movie Theatres and Baskin Robbins. Looks like they may be trying to improve because there is quite a bit of construction going on. So hopefully things will get better.

Close to the airport. It’s not really a mall with name brand stores. Just a small shop with theater and food stops.

Dated outdoor mall on the small side. Only saving grace is a muti-plex movie theater.

This is a cute little mall — we came here twice during our stay and it had everything we were looking for: Longs, Whole Foods, and Tasaka Guri Guri! It’s basically a strip mall, without the strip — there’s a movie theater and other little shops. When we came here on our last day(Dec 22nd) — there was a photographer who was using one of the vacant shop spaces(there are a lot of empty shop spaces) as a temporary photo studio with of course: Santa! So yeah, we had to take a picture with him! It’s not Ala Moana or Pearlridge, not even Kahala Mall; but it’s a convenient place to stop for supplies and maybe watch a movie.

When I visit Maui I come here for: — Guri Guri — Longs — Genki sushi — restroom I have no complaints, it’s a very convenient place to go to if you need to grab a bite or pick up snacks for a trip. There’s even a mini water park for the kids while you’re shopping( ).
