If I could give this place 0 stars I would. To me customer service means everything. Well this place has none. We walked in was seated and got menus. Well we waited and waited for over 20 minutes. Then another couple came in and sat by us got their menus and waters. US still no water. Okay. The lady then started to take the people’s order. The couple looked at us and said they were here first. We said that’s okay continue and we walked out. I will never come here again. This place was not busy at all. Treat me poorly I will never go back. Was looking forward to trying this place out.

The Ramen noodles have just the right bite back – not soggy and overcooked, nor hard and undercooked. The soup base was very flavorful. It was not over-salty nor was it bland. I had the special with BBQ short ribs, and they were done just right too. Getting back to the noodles, though; I really appreciated the proper texture. I’m actually surprised that not more people have taken notice of this.

The food, service, prices, and the restaurant itself are all very poor; It’s quite rare to find a restaurant with so many terrible qualities. All of the ramens are of three stock flavors, with rather overpriced toppings, and a paltry amouny of stale noodles that tasted like soggy cardboard. Tip was included in the tab, which explains why all of the employees are so rude. I really cannot recommend this under any circumstances.

maybe it was because I was starving, but i thought the food was good. the service was okay. bathrooms are not inside, but nearby in the mall. my brother ordered his fried rice without peas and they made it perfect, so he was happy. my mom got wakame tan tan ramen and she liked the broth. my kimchi ramen wasn’t as spicy as I’d like it, but the kimchi was okay. if I’m ever hungry for ramen while at the mall, I think this is the only option and it’s not half bad. parking is all around the mall, so there’s lots to choose from.

The closest you’ll get to gomatei on Maui. Tan Tan ramen is fantastic. Food comes outs fast, great lunch spot. Service was good, very nice staff. I hope this place sticks around! Support them!

DONOTGOTHERE!!! AWFUL!!! After working there during the opening(and leaving after a week of hell) I know this place is just terrible. The owner has no idea what he is doing! There is no proper/formal training of his staff, the cooks don’t know how to read the orders(which is why your food takes so long to come out), they don’t know how to time the orders, and he thinks having the customer wait 20 – 30 minutes for a bowl of soup is ok. He has absolutely no idea how to run a restaurant. Despite knowing the inside world of this disaster I decided to give it a chance a couple times(big mistake). The first time I came back they still served tap water(how classy). Also, their serving size was laughable. The amount of soup they served with the amount of noodles and toppings was embarrassing! Basically just enough to wet the noodles. On top of that they don’t care about how you’re doing during your dining experience. My tap water wasn’t refilled and they gave us one napkin each. Also, the bill was dropped before I was halfway finished with my meal. Out of desperation to get food into our stomachs we gave this place another try(being that everywhere was packed). Of course we were seated pretty quick since this place isn’t the greatest. The owner came and tried to take our order. I asked him a simple question and he had no idea what i was talking about. I asked how much it would cost if I just wanted a side order of the soup broth. Completely went over his head. So I just ordered the Oritsu Ramen and added the curry rice. When our order came out my soup was cold! I asked him to reheat it and he seemed offended that I would request such a thing. He brought back the soup on a plate and it was even colder! This place is a DISGRACE! How can you screw up ramen especially if it’s the focus of your restaurant?! Not only that, he didn’t put through the order for my curry rice! THISISTHEOWNER! I will never come to this place again and I suggest first timers to turn around! Try Ramen-Ya instead. They are quick, the food is delicious, and their quantities are huge! They are busy for a reason. Oritsu Ramen is just a wanna-be. I am surprised they are still open. SAVEYOURMONEYANDGOSOMEWHEREELSE!!! If i could give 0 stars, I would.

Very meh. I got the gyoza ramen, spicy style. It was not spicy at all. The gyoza was pretty good, though the inside was pretty salty. The ramen noodles themselves were delicious and chewy, but the broth was oddly flavored. The waiter said it was a mixture of chicken and pork soup. The cha siu was quite roasted, and it was pretty flavorful actually. The vegetables were alright. I wish my bowl came with more ingredients and not just a tub of ramen. I asked for extra soup because the noodles were drying up, and after the waiter poured a small bowl of it into my big bowl for me, he said something about charging $ 1 for extra soup because it’s valuable or something(he didn’t actually end up charging me). But that’s ridiculous because it was a tiny bowl of extra soup, and I know how to make pork/chicken bone soup myself. It’s not that difficult, although it does take a long time. Anyway, ramen is meh, though pretty cheap and good quantity(my bowl was $ 9.95 pre-tax). I wouldn’t recommend this place for sure.

I stopped going there for awhile. Decided to give them s try again. This time the noodles were firm and tasty. The broth was good too. The service was good and pleasant. Great improvement. The place is clean. When you see the place with a lot of locals eating there, you know the food and service is good.

So far so good… veggie ramen, char Sui ramen, ramen burger, gyoza & chicken skewers. It was my first try with the ramen burger. I was surprised at the juicy burger and noodles baked just right. The sauce wa really good, not too sweet. The miso soup was a bit too salty. The inside of the restaurant was your typical Asian décor. The tables were close to each other. They also have a TV that plays Asian shows. Overall, really great ramen to enjoy on any day.

Pretty low key place. All of the food was mediocre(the chow fun and the gyoza) except for the ramen which was tasty, and the shrimp skewers which were amazing.(However, I am a big fan of shrimp so that could have swayed me a little!). The food is fairly average to good, but the service is excellent. Our waiter was friendly, accommodating, and respectful. He brought our food extremely quickly. Great service from everyone working.

I took a break from this place for almost 2 years due to having sub par ramen. Time for another try(third times a charm?) I was surprised that the place was actually pretty busy, yes it was a Friday night but this place hasn’t been receiving the most positive reviews and past glimpses in have confirmed so. FOOD: Shoyu Ramen — The noodles were a good chewy, the broth was hot, salty, and what I like to call a clean shoyu broth(clear, no murkiness,) tender & tasty char siu, and fresh toppings of choi sum, half a boiled egg, cabbage, and fishcake. Good job guys, you’re now my #2 favorite shoyu ramen on the rock. Cold Tofu — 4 square slices of super soft tofu drizzled with a soy-ginger sauce and topped with sliced fishcake and nori strips. A very light and refreshing app to start with or accompany any dish. Hamburger Steak — 5.25.15 — Two tender & tasty homemade patties with a medium colored savory brown gravy, two scoops of rice and one of the rock’s most delicious macaroni salads. Very good and a second place finish behind Archie’s. Chicken Dry Mein — 12.7.15 — My mom’s dish. It’s a big portion of stir fried noodles, rather than a dry mein preparation that the name implies, with some cabbage, bean sprouts, scrambled egg slices, kamaboko, tender chicken slices, and thinly cut nori strips. It had that nice and distinctive«stir fried on the grill» flavor. Tan Tan Ramen — 12.7.15 — To be honest, this is a pretty good version, though its not spicy at all. The broth is a true sesame flavor that’s pretty evident when you get to the bottom of the bowl and you can taste the ground up seeds. It’s light and not rich like the version at Goma Tei Ramen on Oahu, which is my benchmark. The noodles are a bit thick, and nice and chewy. Unfortunately, the ramen here is never searing hot, so it gets cold quickly. SERVICE: I believe our server was one of the owners. He was very friendly and loved to up sell dishes. Everything has gotten better. We were greeted and seated immediately despite the restaurant being full. Payment at the end was a breeze. OVERALL: Wow, what a difference 2 years made! The portion size issue has been fixed(they gave way too much noodles & toppings before,) service & food have gotten way better. Yay! But, the broth is still just warm and not searing. Add a quarter star.

We came in a party of 7 and only a few of us enjoyed our meal. The garlic butter shrimp was ok and the pork fried rice was ok. The shrimp tempura was comparable to eating a pancake with shrimp. The ramen soup flavor was not great. The place looks new and clean which is very important to me but I love to eat and flavor does matter. The goyza, not very good unless you like yours oily. Everyone’s order was given to the person sitting on the end instead of giving it to the person who ordered it.

While vacationing in Maui with my friends, I came upon this place because I wanted to try how Maui ramen fared to Honolulu ramen. Luckily, the restaurant was empty so I figured service would be good. However, I should’ve saw this as a sign for an unfortunate experience. Here is where it goes downhill. After getting seated, the waitress brings us water but she hands it to my friend to pass around the table! Mind you, that there is enough space for her to come around and set the glass down. Once our food arrives, she asks who ordered what and passes me the dishes to pass around the table. Out of the four of us, my bf was the only one who didn’t receive his meal yet. After five more minutes, his meal finally arrived. By then, I was really irritated by the service, but I still had hope for the shoyu ramen. I took one bite and I was disgusted. The noodles were overcooked and the broth was so bland. I honestly would’ve rather eaten cup-a-noodles instead of the ramen from here. Once the bill came, I was astounded that they automatically added tip to the total. What kind of business does this?! By then, we were all annoyed by the service and quality of the food that we just left. This is by far the WORST ramen establishment that I have ever been to. Save your time and money so you won’t be forced to pay for a tip they don’t deserve.

Coming from Oahu, the bar is set pretty high when it comes to good tasting ramen, so I guess I expected better. I believe that if you’re going to serve only one type of food(in this case, ramen), it better be nothing short of spectacular. I ordered the char siu tan tan ramen. The broth itself was pretty bland and the noodles were slightly overcooked. The only thing that was really worth eating was the char siu. Service was lacking big time. The waitress never once came to check on us even though it was only us and maybe one or two other tables taken. I don’t even think she came to refill our water. The thing that REALLY angered me was that they automatically added tip to your bill. We didnt’ even have that big of a party; there was 4 of us. Then when you pay with a card(tip already included), they have a line for MORE tip. Just be careful if you go here as they’re trying to get a few extra dollars from you. Wish I could give less than 1 star NEVERAGAIN!

Oritsu is in close proximity to the more popularly-known Ramen-Ya, but we chose this joint for the convenience and small amount of Unilocal reviews we browsed. Finding an authentic ramen joint in Maui can be difficult; it’s not LA, and the competition just isn’t there. The prices were reasonable($ 8.50 for a basic ramen, $ 9+ for more«premium» options), and we decided to split 2 ramens among my 2 sisters and myself. As is common with ramen houses, they offer 3 broths– shoyu, miso, and another I cannot recollect. The broth itself isn’t complex, it’s truly your basic broth. Not raving about it, but it didn’t stand out in a negative way. The char siu is NOT tender, and at times that can make or break a ramen meal. Service was relatively fast, and the owner seemed polite. 3⁄5 stars.
