For a quick refreshing shaved ice, this is a convenient and fast location. Nothing too special but it is fast and hits the spot in a pinch.

Best taro bubble tea I’ve had in awhile! Ice was very fine, silky smooth. Sweetness was just right, not over powering… Boba was soft and chewy. Overall a great thirst quencher on a warm day… I apologize for the pic… I was going to take one swig before taking a pic, but I couldn’t stop once I started…

Hawaiian Ice Cones was supposed to be a welcome reprieve, after hitting a couple of beaches, grabbing some Umeke’s poke, and before picking up some snacks at Longs. However, it turned out to be just an OK experience. It is a little shack next to Umeke’s and Longs on Palani in Kailua Kona. We ordered smalls off the specialty menu: Two #2’s — Strawberry w/azuki; and #5 haupia w/coconut, and vanilla ice cream. All items together was around $ 13. They also have a multitude of flavors for shave ice, halo halo, and a bunch of odd food dishes like quesadillas & tacos. My cuz liked her strawberry shaved ice. The strawberry flavor really came out, and the azuki beans made a nice combo: 4 Stars. On the other hand, the haupia was not as good. There wasn’t that much ice, and it was mainly ice cream. Don’t get me wrong, the haupia flavor really came out. But the ice should have been the main feature, not the ice cream: 3 Stars. This shack is a mess. In addition to serving ices, they also serve halo halo, tacos, and a bunch of other junk: 2 Stars. The service was OK. The orders came out quickly, and the cashier was polite: 3 Stars. We stopped by here because we couldn’t find Scandinavian Ice(stupid directions on Unilocal got us lost to this place and Scandi Ice). However, this place is just OK in my book, and not worth a special trip. I wouldn’t have dropped by if it wasn’t next to Umeke’s and Longs.
