The pool hasn’t been resurfaced in eons so the plaster on the bottom is coming off everywhere. The changing rooms look like they are from some 3rd world country with missing shower heads, handles and it is only COLD water. It used to be heated before the economic crisis of 2008. But this should not become the new«normal.» We should not have to always live like it still is the worst economic time since the Depression. Then, they are continually closing«due to staffing problems». They have cutback their public swim hours by closing Tues, Thurs nights, closing Sundays, and from 1−2pm on weekdays. It is getting so it is unusable. The pool workers are friendly however.

Nestle in the town of Kailua, this park has a swimming pool, basketball and tennis courts, soccer field and a gymnasium. Free parking as well! For a public park, I am quite surprised how well maintained it is. Came on a Thursday evening and was not too busy at the tennis courts. Will definitely come back to check out the rest of the park and make use of the other recreational facilities. I also like how close the park is to so many restaurants around the area. Makes it easy to grab a bite to eat!

Well-managed facility with lots of good programs/classes for kids, teens and adults. Very affordable too. My son enrolled in basketball and woodcraft — both had great instructors and he really enjoyed the classes. Two suggestions: Invest in a couple of table tennis/ping pong tables for adults and start a ping pong club.(They have table tennis tables available for the Teen Program, but this is not open to the public or to teens who want to drop by and play some games.) Permit friendly dogs to play in the park.(Presently, dogs are allowed to walk through the park but they are not allowed to play fetch or catch a frisbee on the grass.) Fine the heck out of owners who don’t pick up after their pets(install cameras).

I really like the tennis courts here. There are about 12 courts and there is usually always a court open. There’s also a practice wall to hit. That’s pretty nice since not all public courts have this. Kailua people tend to be pretty nice.

Tennis anyone? Kailua has invested wisely in this park with a complete makeover of the tennis courts. These courts are in pristine condition and I’d put them up against the«extravagant» Kailua Racquet Club or any courts on the Windward side. Why pay the membership fees when you can snag one of these 6 or 7 courts? They are well-lit and usually live with activity — be it families walking their dogs around, a swim meet, kids on the basketball courts, or the Saturday evening farmer’s market and live jams nearby. I’ll have to add a photo so you get a real feel for it. My hunny and I play a couple times a week while our son kicks it in a pack and play or carseat. We have yet to had to wait for a court. If you wanna try your hand in doubles we are always looking for tennis playing friends to join! Good on you, Kailua for putting some tax dollars to good use for the community!

Kailua District Park is a large green space situated in the heart of Kailua Town. Accessible from Kainalu and Kailua Roads, the park hosts the community center, lighted soccer and baseball fields, swimming pool, gymnasium, workout room, basketball, tennis, volleyball, and more. The larger of two parking lots is on the Kainalu side but both have handicapped parking stalls and all parking is free. There is plenty of room for recreation of all kinds, and there are numerous classes held in the community center – many of them free – call or stop by for information.
