Visited on the way back from a road trip. Sandwiches were good and the server wasn’t stingy with the toppings as so many subways are these days. They hand olives like they were worth the price of gold.

The day we visited we were served by who seemed to be the owners(husband/wife team). Both greeted us warmly and she made our sandwiches nicely and without a rush. No messes upon opening, tasted great. The restaurant interior is super clean, including the restroom, music is a local radio station(but not too loud or obnoxious in style), and there was no crud/crumbs on the tables, chairs or on the floor. Even looks like they clean their light fixtures and windows regularly – when was the last time you saw that kind of clean in a «fast food» eatery? Kalama is a charming small town, and the Subway is a nice place for lunch or a snack.

Funny that the reviewer before me described her experience as «bizarre». This is EXACTLY my sentiment. First off, there was NOONE in there when we entered, but the one employee was totally frazzled and out of breath. His sandwich making skills were spazzy and rushed. He was super hyper and jittery. I was kind of under the impression he was on meth amphetamine. We kinda watched in amazement as he flung together 2 sandwiches but the real shock came upon opening them in the car. What.A.MESS! The meatball sandwich was a sloppy whirlpool of sauce and squished meat chunks(see attached picture). My turkey on wheat was more like mustard on mustard… How could I have not seen how much he was putting on? It was literally dripping out of the paper. Someone either needs to give this guy more help or get him to a rehab.

All in all, a lovely Subway sandwich… However, you’d imagine there would be more than ONE person working on a busy Sunday afternoon. Maybe it was just a weird snippet in time where everybody in the city wanted a sandwich, but it was beyond bizarre.
