I came here for lunch on a Monday. The service was great, very attentive. I liked that there were healthier alternatives even though this is a traditional university bar/restaurant. My table ordered a quinoa salad, wrap, and a regular salad. The food was a bit mediocre. I appreciated the attempt, but it was nothing to get excited over. The draw here for me is the nice 2nd floor outdoor seating area that looks appealing on nice days. I think this would be a good place to go for drinks and light snacking.

Where do we begin? This was our first time coming here. From start to finish, was a great experience. The Ahi Tuna was to die for, My wife had the chicken and Waffles Sandwich she said it was the best she had in a long while. I had the fish Tacos they were the Bomb. Needless to say we will be back for more, and send everyone we know to you all. Service was Exemplary. Thanks again for a wonderful dining experience!!!

One star for being a place close enough to the football stadium, to be a great tailgate spot. Another star for having alcohol. Always helps stomach the incredulously slow service and heat lamp encrusted Gordon’s/Sysco freezer burned burger patties and cheese.

The whitest fried chicken I’ve ever had. Everything here was Pepsi… the quotes on the wall included.

I always enjoy having dinner at University Roadhouse. Food is great and so is the service!

Shall I call it an upscale college bar? It’s not a dive for sure. It does cater to both college kids and their families which for me translates to great beer specials and a focus on better than average food. The restaurant itself is clean, no broken tables, smashed mirrors in the bathroom, musty smells, fruit flies, etc. that you would expect at a college bar so maybe I can call it an upscale college bar. Fine, I’m good with that. So I’ve only been there a few times on different occasions, recently being Kalamazoo pub crawl. We had a group of 5 and all sat at the bar in the basement. Everyone ordered different items from the menu, mine being the chicken tenders(the one time I wanted fried everything), where others got burgers and sandwiches. My buddy said his burger was good, other friends sandwich was finished and no time, and my tenders were unexpectedly homemade. Bravo. I also stopped in over the summer when WMU played State and did the tailgate thing up on their deck. First off, nice place to hang out in the summer for sure. Spots both in the sun and shade, awesome. We again had 5 – 6 of us and all enjoyed beers, nachos, cheese sticks, and a couple shots. Spent 4 – 5 hours there and really enjoyed ourselves. Service was great! So yeah, for what its worth, UR was just as I expected. If I lived closer, it just might be my top 3 hangout joints. Just keep in mind the clientele that UR is trying to attract, for that they do just fine. Keep up the good work.

Love the Roadhouse. The chicken tenders are amazing. They’re breaded with Panko which make them nice and crispy and they go really well with the fries. My other favorite is the fish tacos. The fish is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. And despite being fried is not greasy at all.

Not the place to go if you want a burger. I ordered a Black and Blu medium rare. It came out well done with not a lot of blue cheese. I asked for more blue cheese and mayo because it tasted so dry. My husband asked for a medium burger it also came out well done. I have to say my Two Hearted didn’t taste great either. I had my husband taste it too just in case I was wrong, but I wasn’t it. Not sure if they are cleaning their lines. I ant imagine two hearted being old. The French fries were good and the service was good. Atmosphere upstairs is fun, lots a great t.v.‘s for sports. But if you can’t get a good burger or a delicious beer why come.

University Roadhouse is a great neighborhood bar and grill, the service is always fantastic but the large food menue is not executed or presented well. It’s far above most of the chain restaurants in the area. Make a visit and you will be happy.

I went out to eat with a party of four. They mixed my medium cooked burger with my friends medium rare burger so I had my server take it back and told her I can’t eat it due to it being barely cooked. They comped it from my bill. I asked for a to-go order of buffalo chicken dip and I left it on the table for 2 minutes and as I noticed I left it on the table, it was already tossed in the trash. I asked to speak with a manager and his name was Blaze. He showed zero effort or care about my to-go bag being tossed and didn’t offer to do anything until I brought up I didn’t want to pay for nothing. He offered to make me a new order but I had to leave due to my über. He said he’d be in until midnight so I called two hours after I left asking to speak with Blaze. The first girl picked up and asked me to call back in 15. I called back and then the girl said he was too busy as the restaurant was slammed and she told me to call back tomorrow. I live out of town and visited for homecoming. She provided a poor example of customer service and didn’t know what I wanted. This is ridiculous that they simply can’t put the customer first, regardless of how«busy» you are. I would not recommend to dine here as you’ll be served by those that were trained improperly for customer service.

There are people out there that don’t shop at Walmart because of the way that Walmart treats its employees. I used to work here in college and my former tenure here is the exact reason why I abstain from going to University Roadhouse, any of the Main Street Pubs, Fletchers Pub, or any of the other restaurants owned by this family. Its hilarious though because many people who would boycott Walmart also really like to eat here.

This place is owned by the same people who own Main Street Pub, but everything is less pub like and more restaurant like. They have outdoor seating, covered and open, upstairs and downstairs. A bar upstairs and downstairs. They work well with large groups of people and do have a back room if you would like to have a party not in the general vicinity of other customers. Just like Main St Pub, they have weekly dinner specials; except Turkey Dinner Night is on Tuesday instead of Thursday. They have a wide arrange of food and if what you want is not on the menu, they will do their best accommodate you and make something you would like. I usually always get the ahi tuna appetizer as my meal, cooked rare, with cucumber slaw, and it’s delicious. The service always comes with a smile and they are very attentive to their tables. A manager or two is always around to check in as well. The overall service of the restaurant is run very smoothly.

Best restaurant to attend for games, tailgating or hanging out with your family when they’re visiting. #1 college students go to place to eat since it’s right off campus !

Pros: Excellent food, fresh Bells beer on tap, outstanding value, very professional service and ample free parking. Cons: Lack of atmosphere. Had a very nice Mother’s Day Lunch there the other day. All the sammys were great, as was the Mac & Cheese. Sally was an excellent server and the Bells Two Hearted Ale was outstanding. Will definitely be back when in town.

I’m not sure how to update this without sounding harsh. So I guess I’m going to be harsh… This week I ventured beyond the spinach and feta burger and I’m kind of wishing I didn’t. The whole experience was slow, distant, and less then impressive. My friend pointed out a lot of grammatical errors on the menus, but most disappointing part of the evening was the food. I ordered the Napa Salad and the person I was with ordered the stuffed Portabellos. Appetizer– Chicken strips: Good! Seemed like they were Panko Breaded, love that style! Dinner– Both of us felt neither dishes lived up to our expectations. They were definitely played up on the menu, but lacked luster in reality. There was minimal effort put in to the presentation of both dishes. Both were bland and dry. Napa Salad: Didn’t feel worth it– kind of like they poured one of those oriental medley lettuce packages you can buy at the store in my bowl tossed a chicken breast over it, added minimal dressing, and called it good. Stuffed Portobellos: The balsamic reduction was tossed inside of the stuffed mushrooms, we thought it might be better taste and presentation wise if it haf been drizzled on top. The side dishes tasted unseasoned. The over cooked rice and squash sat in separate craft-less piles. Overall, the bar here seems great, but I definitely feel like the service and food could use some TLC.

I have been here multiple times and honestly there is nothing special about it, yes it’s close to campus but that’s the only good thing about it really. Today when I went I ordered the chicken tender wrap(I think its called the fritter wrap or something) and upgraded to the sweet potato fries for a dollar extra. The wrap didn’t have much chicken in it and barely any ranch either. The sweet potato fries were good but you can’t really mess those up. If your in kzoo go somewhere downtown instead, because the atmosphere here isn’t all that great either.

Restaurant downstairs, bar upstairs. Good beers, pub food, decent prices, it’s a good place to grab a drink and catch up with friends. They have TVs so you can watch sports if you want. I had the chicken quesadilla and I like that the chicken is shredded and not chunks.

I have eaten here many times in the last 15 years. The food is good and there is a decent selection. The staff is usually friendly and helpful. There can be a bit of a wait when they get really packed. I would NOT suggest going after a WMU sporting event because the place fills up and service tends to drop a little and the wait time goes way way up. The beer selection is decent but the mixed drinks are on the weak side. Families can go here if it is early in the day and I know a lot of people love the place for lunch. They do have multiple TV’s playing a variety of sporting events. I like the outdoor seating areas and I would suggest it for a nice place to grab a bite and drink.

My daughter and I took a quick trip to Kalamazoo, Michigan and wound up here for dinner. She went to Western Michigan for her first two years of college so was familiar with the place. It is a typical sports bar and restaurant with TVs and games on everywhere. They are well staffed, a real plus in my view. And, I suppose it helps them keep a high turnover of customers. Since we were not there to watch a game, we were one of the ones they saw as being able to move along quickly.(This is not a bad thing.) They have a wide variety of bar foods on the menu, so I stuck with my traditional burger. Being a little more adventurous since we were on the road, I opted for one called«The Diablo» — this featured Grilled andouille sausage and carmelized onions. It was a good burger — not outstanding, but good. The sausage was excellent. The burger with all of the toppings was pretty messy, but that made it fun. They lose a couple of points on their martinis. I guess that’s not the best drink to order in a sports bar. All in all though, a fun night.

I like how close this place is to campus when I come visit Western. Also the outdoor patio is very cute as well as the décor on the inside. It’s definitely more of a bar with bar food — so when people complain about that aspect, I laugh a little to myself. I’ve had a pretty good salad here before and I had the stuffed portabella. I normally wouldn’t order something like a stuffed portabella at a place like this, but wanted something that would trick me into thinking it was sorta healthy. Honestly, not the best food I’ve had, but nice setting, pretty good service, and I’d go back because of the location and atmosphere.
