If I could I would give this place 0 stars! At the end of our meal we left a $ 7 tip the two dollars were folded over the 5 $ bill. The lady came and took the tip and looked at it saying«only $ 2?!» I think it’s so RUDE! Never coming here again! Ungrateful people! We didn’t just give $ 2 ! After I told the lady how rude that was she didn’t think so!

This was our second time getting take out and the food was fast, hot and delicious We had the house special chop suey, sweet and sour chicken and beef broccoli. It’s a nice blend of flavors served up local style. They have fresh Manapua both steamed and baked. We will be back for more!

Reason for my 5-star rating is overall experience. Restaurant is worn but clean. Food quality is good. Service also good. Having been a regular customer at least once-4times weekly, the waitresses will start treating you as a friend. Prices very reasonable.

We have been eating here once a week for almost a year. The food is cheap and good. Last Friday we ordered rice soup with salt egg and pork. It was delicious and I noticed there was some fish balls in the soup. When we got the bill she had charged us for the fish balls which we did not order. I brought it to her attention and she mentioned the fish balls. I told her we did not order with fish balls. I went up to the counter to pay and told the cashier the same thing and she said they had given us extra pork. Now they were really pissing me off for lying and thinking they could get away doing things like this. I told her you cannot charge more than what your menu says unless it was previously agreed upon. So she adjusted the bill. I also told her that this was the 3rd time they tried to overbill me. I was so damn mad I didn’t leave a tip and I was waiting for the waitress to follow me out the door and ask for the tip. This same waitress used to work at Waimalu Chop Suey and asked me if I was going to leave a tip when I dined there. I told her I left her 20% tip on the credit card. Some nerve! Now I cannot go back there to eat for fear I’ll get spit in my food.

The food is pretty good. However don’t order take out. They seem to have a practice of waiting till you come in to actually make your food. So for the second time we ordered then waited for 30 min before we drove to the restaurant. Then waited another 45 min for the food. Never doing this again.

Located in the heart of Kaneohe, Mui Kwai Chop Suey has been a long-time fixture. In a small building off of Kam Highway, many motorist drive by not knowing what culinary delight they’re missing. My in-laws have been long time customers of Mui Kwai and if we’re not munching on take-outs, then we’re sitting in the restaurant munching on entrees. Their prices are fair and service is good. Compared to other Chinese restaurants I’ve been to, they would get a C. But still not a bad place to eat on the Windward side since Chun Wah Kam hasn’t opened up in a location here yet.

New Mui Kwai is your classic Hawaii Cantonese chop suey restaurant. From the hole-in-the-wall décor to the lazy susan tables to the comfort food menu, it’s the norm for you neighborhood Chinese restaurant. They have all the local favorites like abalone soup, beef broccoli, cake noodle with vegetable. fried sweet and sour shrimp, roast duck, wonton, sweet and sour pork, and jin dui. Prices are very reasonable averaging under $ 10 for many for their dishes and the portions are plentiful. There isn’t anything special or noteworthy about this particular place, but like most of these neighborhood chop suey restaurants that many of us grew up with in Hawaii, they’re great to visit for family gatherings or the occasional old-school meal. And you’ll always have leftovers!

Visited New Mui Kwai in Kaneohe for lunch today as I went to Kin Wah originally, only to find out there was no parking… and we did not want to go to Pake’s. This was not my first time there so I kind of knew what to expect. It’s a typical«hole in the wall» Chinese place, kind of run down but decent. When we entered, there was not a lot of people but many open tables. Unfortunately, the tables(not the large ones for 10 people) had not been bussed and were filled with dirty dishes and food from the previous customers. Not sure why they were not cleaning the tables. There seemed to be only two people serving but for awhile, no one appeared. Finally when one showed up, we asked to have a table cleared. Ordering was straight forward. They have ongoing specials posted, including 3 in the windows: Oyster Sauce Chicken w/cake noodle, Chinese Chicken Salad & Rice Noodle w/Chicken or Shrimp — $ 6.95. Good deals but I went simple… pork chop suey chow mein… meat, veggies and noodles. The wait was not too long and the dish was tasty and a relatively good portion and I ended up taking a lot of it home. Ok, why the low rating? Several reasons… During the meal, there was a family with young kids playing around. Apparently the restaurant likes to leave the silverware and dishes that they place on the tables on a central table in the middle of the dining room. As the waiters were preoccupied and did not come out of the kitchen to monitor often, the kids were picking up and playing with the silverware and dishes… one was even drawing on a spoon. Their parents didn’t notice anything and the kids eventually placed everything back when the family left… yuck! Also, during our meal, there was a maintenance worker fixing the ac unit and was going into the ceiling. He was constantly lifting the ceiling panels and touching things above the ceiling… I could just imagine all of the dust and particles from the panels floating around the room… and who knows what else? When leaving and paying our bill, I noticed there were trays of pork hash, half moon, rice cake, jung and jin dui. Some trays were covered with plastic wrap but it seems that some are left uncovered all day… not sure how safe that is. I’ve heard some people in Kaneohe tell me that they prefer this restaurant over Kin Wah. The taste and quantity is good but I have some health concerns. Haven’t had those problems before but hope they can monitor the dining room more often and think about the customers.

Still as good as it was 25years ago when I lived here. If you like real Chinese food then this is the place to eat.

Dinner plate with lemon chicken and fried rice always hits the spot when I don’t know where else to go. Price is good and taste better than kin wah. Parking is good also, always get and easy to get in and out.

I have passed this place a thousand times and finally broke down and stopped in for some spareribs in black bean sauce and it was an wonderful experience… although I’d never eat-in and much rather prefer to take out…

Our family are regulars here but ever since I found a bug(roach) in our food NEVERAGAIN! Instead of being apologetic about it, they were really rude! Doesn’t deserve any stars!

Based on my first time eating here, I would judge this as a solid Chinese take out restaurant. The ladies at the front were very helpful, and the dishes were done decently. Nothing ordered was stellar, but I will definitely be back again and can update this review with more information.

Rai rai ramen was closed so we ended up here. Worst decision ever :(yeah their food is cheap but you get what you pay for. I dn’t recommend their chow mein. The noodles were super hard and their vegetables too big, the shrimp however, was decent. The workers gave me a mean stare when they realized I didn’t eat my food. Yeah, I felt bad leaving it there, but at least I didn’t complain or demand my money back. Everything was paid for. If you’re in the mood for Asian I highly recommend Planet Phở.

Ordered their dinner plate.YUK.Lemon chicken was dry and old tasting, crispy gau gee was horrible, the meat inside of it was dry and hard, ginger chicken tasted like boiled chicken and they threw some sauce on it, noodles tasted like it was from yesterdays leftovers… never again… waste of money. Yes they have great specials and for the most part very busy. Good idea to make reservations. Alert if you’re doing take out be sure to check your order, if they are busy they may crew up your order.

I actually really like this place. I know many people don’t. I love their specials, for under $ 6 you can get a Chinese Chicken Salad, or a Chicken and Shrimp rice noodle plate! Their spicy ginger wontons are amazing too! The service is like any other typical Chinese restaurant, but prices are reasonable, the portions are big, and the food is pretty good.
