We went there on a Chrismas eve and was desperate to find somewhere to eat before making our mind on this place. We had salmon sliders and a chicken soup, both were very delicious and exceeded our expectations!

We walked here from the hotel looking for somewhere close & yummy!!! We started with the traditional buffalo wings which were AMAZING! I think ordered the Louie burger but what was brought out to me was the Blue Louie which was nothing like I ordered… Nevertheless they made me a new burger. The Louie burger was«ok» dry but I did finish it

I’ve been 3 different times and always receive the best food, service and drinks. They have a great variety with a good amount of seating.

Worst service ever! Took at least an hour to get appetizer. Service was terrible. Burger overcooked. Understaffed for a Saturday night ku game at sprint center. Will not return! We had a table of eight. Took forever to get drinks. Do not recommend.

Came in on a Saturday night for reservations which were not needed because the place was entirely empty. Weird for such a location in Power & Light, but maybe it was the cold because our food was awesome. Even though we had a group of 8, the kitchen still managed to mess up orders/deliver late despite the fact that no one was in the restaurant. The food made up for it though… order of the loaded tater tots is enough to feed two as a meal! The queso cheese on these them are so gooooood. Also ordered the Asian pizza with peanut sauce and it was delicious. Berry mojito was decent as well… I don’t think it had much if any alcohol in it, sadly.

Hands down the worst service I have ever had at a restaurant. Went to grab dinner and watch football, and we had been there an hour before our food was brought out. My boyfriend ordered a burger and I ordered lettuce wraps. After receiving my meal, I found that there was mold on the lettuce for my lettuce wraps. I sent them back to the kitchen, and just requested a bowl of soup, hoping this would be a quick choice since we had already been there for an hour. 30 minutes later, and there was still no soup. I requested the soup to just be put in a to-go container because I didn’t want to wait any longer. The manager let us know that they had incorrectly made the soup(?) and that it would be right out. After about 2 hours at this restaurant, we left with a mediocre(at best) burger and a lukewarm cup of soup. The entire time we were there, there was barely anyone eating and numerous employees just talking, texting, or walking around the restaurant. I will never be going back to this restaurant again. I hope the Power and Light District finds a better quality restaurant/bar to replace this establishment soon.

Slow service granted it was during the playoff games but I would think they would’ve planned accordingly. Server would go missing and there was a problem with my bill. I love the food but service needs to improve, its always slow… I don’t know if thats the style of the establishment or what

Came for Tuesday $ 1 burger night. More like $ 3-$ 4 with fun stuff, but still a good deal. Bartender was great but kitchen was super slow for both the first burger and second I ordered. There were only 30 people or so in the place so I am confused why they can’t handle it unless they run light on cooks.

We started with a steamed pork potsticker appeteaser which was very good. 6 pieces instead of the typical 5. Tami ordered a burger as it was ‘dollar burger night’. Added toppings let you ‘build your own’ for add’l charges. Burger was moist and nicely sized on a lightly toasted soft bun. Oddly, the waitress did not ask how you wanted it cooked. Fries was a large portion and satisfyingly crisp. I ordered a new menu item(special) Voodoo Pasta. What I got was the entrée Voodoo Chicken with rice. It was good with ample amounts of chicken and andouille mixed with peppers and onion in a mildly spicy cream sauce. Added house brand pepper sauce amped it up a bit, but for a heat lover, not enough. The waitress apologized for the mix-up adding that the pasta is a new menu item and she automatically thought ‘Voodoo Chicken’. Still I missed the shrimp and pasta. The side Caesar salad was large but just okay. One more Caesar sans anchovies. I’ll probably never understand how a salad can be called ‘Caesar’ without a signature ingredient. All in all a pleasant setting and we enjoyed ourselves. That said, this won’t be a ‘destination’ for a return visit.

Went to Bar Louie on Tuesday before the T Swift concert. My girlfriend and I met up with my bother and his gal pal. When we arrived the place was absolutely jammed, which is understandable because of the concert and because Bar Louie has $ 1.00 burgers on Tuesday. We hung around the bar prior to being seated, my brother and I both had a KC Bier, which is a German Micro Brew in KC and its spectacular. We waited for 15 minutes before being seated at a high top, we were actually in a quite section of the restaurant which was nice. The four of us all order a burger of some kind, my girlfriend and I got fries, the other two ordered tater tots. We waited quite a while before our burgers were out, but I assume that is because of the business and the special. Once our orders can, it was good. The burgers were cooked all the way through and all the toppings were great. The fries were cooked perfectly with good seasoning on top, the tater tots however were burnt and we couldn’t hardly eat them, they did take it off the bill because their fryer was acting up. While, the wait was long and the tots came out poorly, I am a fan of this place. If you go on a Tuesday be prepared to wait for both a table and your food if you order a burger. Be careful on what toppings you get, I like everything and my burger was $ 6.50 after the toppings were added, but still a great price for what you get. I will definitely be going back on Tuesdays in the future.

I could have gone to the grocery store, cooked the food and served it quicker than this place. It took over 40 minutes to get food for a table of five over lunch. They even managed to forget one of our orders. It’s not like the restaurant was busy. Unacceptable!

Pros: nice patio seating, good sangria Cons: Caesar salad had waaaaay too much dressing on it and when I ordered chicken with it– there was a huge chicken great just sitting on top(poor presentation), Mac & cheese tasted over processed, took a while to get food

Bar Louie serves a full service menu till closing time in the Power and Light district, I’ll admit– that alone is pretty great. I can’t say a lot of other good things. The service was mediocre, the food was mediocre– some just BAD, and the atmosphere is strange. Bar Louie can’t decide if it’s a restaurant or a club, and that may be half the problem. What was good? The Szechuan wings, Queso-loaded tots, and Blackened Fish tacos. The BLTT was just plain bad– dry bread, bland sandwich– nothing to write home about. The other downside service-wise, was that the entrees for half the table came out, followed by at least a 10 minute delay for the rest of the food. 10 minutes is a long time when you’re staring at your food, watching it get cold, and really needing to soak up some alcohol– all in the name of being polite. No apologies were given either. Next time, I’ll go the BK Whopper Bar. At least you know what you’re getting.

Been twice in a span of two weeks. First trip enjoyed a decent happy hour, cheaper draft beer and ½ off apps. It happened to be a Tuesday so they also have $ 1 burgers during HH, but it is hardly worth the $ 1. I think the burger was pre cooked and just warmed up when ordered, plus the meat was meh! My second visit I ordered the Voodoo sandwich(blackened chicken with sautéed peppers and Andouille sausage) The chicken was blackened but not from blackened seasoning… it was burnt and the sauteed peppers were raw! Oh, and they were out of fries… how does a place like this run out of fries??? So that’s the bad, the good was the service, as the bar tender was apologetic and took the sandwich off the bill. The place is nice modern and clean with a large opening to the outside. If I decide to go back it will be for drinks and a possible app…

I honestly only go here for dollar burger nights. It’s a pretty good deal for $ 1. The food is average. But the downtown atmosphere is great. Nothing like getting out of the home and experiencing downtown KC to boost your spirits.

***You will be paying for location, NOT for Food or SERVICE*** We have had better food/service at McCoy’s Public House, Johnny ‘s Tavern, EVENCHEDDAR’S. White Nectar Martini Was smooth, tasteful, not overly sweet, & just right. YET our server charged full price, not happy hour. Baked Mac & Cheese w/bacon (Do not even order it) GOTOMCCOY’S PUBLICHOUSE Roughly $ 5 each(Happy Hour) Tastes similar to Applebee’s –Boneless Wings –Spinach Dip Tastes like Taco Bell but larger — –Quesadilla Our server was extremely quick to drop food off & go back to talking with co workers by the computers.

Worst service I’ve ever had. Some how at 8 pm they have run out of chicken nachos and chips and salsa. Waitress was awful. Didn’t know how to take an order for a vodka and water. Would not recommend this place to worst enemy. Also some how out of pbr. Over 20 min wait for calamari. Oh and the bathroom toilets don’t flush and bathroom smells like raw sewage. And just found what could be a finger nail in a drink

Had reservations for a large group. They were completely unprepared. Our tables were not set up and we had one server and only 2 cooks in the kitchen. Boneless wings were dry, spinach dip tasted fishy and the tuscan chicken pasta was bland. Took over an hour to get our food. Will not go again.

We stopped here after attending La Traviatta at the Kauffman. I am always surprised at the lack of decent late-night dining in the Power and Light District on the weekends. Everything seems to shut down at 11pm and all one is left with is bar food. We chanced into Bar Louie and were greeted by friendly people. Our server was friendly and attentive. We just had burgers and fries and one cocktail. I found it to be a skosh pricey but the quality of the food and service was acceptable.

After writing a 2-star review for a reputable business, I’m sitting here pondering why I can give a 3-star review for Bar Louie. And I think this is why: having been to a Bar Louis in St. Louis, I was aware that this is a small chain. I went in with chain-restaurant expectations, and that’s what I got, so I can’t give any less than 3 stars. Is the food and beverage all mediocre? Yes. Is this what you typically get at a chain? Yes. Maybe folks are just going in with high expectations because it is located in a swanky part of town, but let’s be real — the Chipotle down the street isn’t going to be any better than any other Chipotles in town just because it’s in P&L. Bar Louie delivered what I expected of them, so for that they get 3 stars. Tips: if you must go, don’t get the fries — they’re dry and sad. $ 1 drafts and $ 5 martinis for HH are a good deal, though.
